So, I keep hearing that Wright is a racist, and a fear monger, and various other terrible things. Problem is, the only quotes of his I can find are the two that have been replayed endlessly. I've looked for more of his hateful, racist sermons, but I can't find any online. I know a Wright sermon inspired the "Audacity of Hope" line from Obamas '04 speech, but I can't find the original sermon either. So, since everyone else seems to recognize what a racist fear monger this guy is, it stands to reason you've read something I haven't. Can someone point me to his other sermons? Thank you in advance. (Take your time, I'm off to work after this.)
This whole thing has the stench of I mean, hey. Rove's back, isn't he. It's only a question of time until we learn how Obama is actually the grand master of the KKK, has a secret moon base with turbolasers to destroy the US and eats babies as snacks while he tortures puppies for fun
^ Honey, this doesn't merit more than a split second thought for a mildly snide answer. Fact is, the smearing has begun, it looks just like the last few times and I'd be really sad if people fell for it yet again
You shouldn't "honey" me unless you're bringing me a coffee refill... Your split-second response (and your admission of same) shows that your knee-jerk reaction is just as valid as those of the people who will judge anyone based on a small sample of their statements. In short - pot, meet kettle.
You really think you're gonna bait me into actually discussing the Rep's various smear campaigns and attempts at character assassination, don't you
No. That was my point. I don't think you really can discuss the issue beyond the talking points from the satellite download.
I have worked an advertising for years. Now I work in journalism. So yes, I can probably reverse engineer the internal papers planning these things But then, what good would it do. You're a Bushist zombie, one of the last ones that exist. Actually, you might find a good place in a zoo after November. Just make sure they don't make you reproduce, thank you very much
Yes, this isn't a real scandal, all those hateful quotes from Obama's pastor were made up by the evil Bushoshi! Rev. Wright didn't really say things like "Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run," "The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied," and "We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God," Karl Rove just put those words in this mouth!!!
I gave up on the other thread when no one came up with anything. The only example given showing Wright "preaching hate" had him quoting "love thy enemy". Here are the two sermons that have received the most attention, in context. I'll let people make their own decisions. [YT="1"]RvMbeVQj6Lw[/YT] [YT="2"]QOdlnzkeoyQ[/YT]
Being a "typical white person" I just can't help but be concerned by someone who takes spiritual guidance from a nutjob like wright.
Exactly. A good preacher should teach normal theology like man being created 6000 years ago from mud and frolicking in Eden with dinosaurs.
Hey, I grew up in the church and I never heard anything like that. I also never heard that HIV was created to kill black people. But what do I know? I was raised in the suburbs.
Sure Obama promises all this, but will he deliver if he's elected? Congress will oppose the turbolasers, with echos of Rumsfeld's "we go to the moon with the lasers we have, not the lasers we want."
It's pretty mainstream. They even got politicians in multiple states to insert warnings into medical text books: "The natural origin of HIV is a controversial theory..."
Yet you have posted 7 times here. Remember, Eva... Actions > Words PS - You can't vote in our elections. Fuck off.
Apparently you have failed to see, or witness any of the video footage that has been presented repeatedly both here and at TNZ. I'd suggest you visit youtube and type in his name. There is a large number of videos that you can watch so that you might witness what has been said by the hate monger. I'm not sure who you have seen, or heard call him a fear monger.
So now we're all supposed to be horribly offended by the slightest whiff of racism or politically incorrect statements? Weird politics.
Considering that the quotes you've seen from Reverend Wright were ones that he choose to include in the DVD his church sells, and that even Obama at this point his retracted his statements that he had never heard him speak of these before and is now stating he's a 'crazy old uncle' and 'he has to accept the good and bad in him', I think we can take it as a reasonable assumption that these comments aren't completely out of character. If you say one hate filled diatribe in public, that should be enough to be denounced. Certainly folks like Kramer and Mel Gibson were. But sell them on DVD? Its amazing how critical thinking skill aren't used in things like this. They sell racist DVDs. Yes, that qualifies.
It's long, but an interesting read. An article written a year ago, which clearly shows how aware Obama has always been about this issue: Continued next...
