This show came to my attention a couple of weeks ago, and I watched seasons one and two since then. It's not one of my favorite shows, but I think it's definitely worth watching. The acting and the plot carries the show. The writing, while adequate, isn't all that impressive. I'm not really impressed by any of the characters, save Hank, and that's because I think he's the biggest douchebag ever in the history of television. Anyone else watching this? If so, what do you think?
Season and half. Close to the end of S2, maybe. It was just that....nothing ever happened. It's a boring fucking show.
Holy shit this show is spectacular. It starts slow, has it's ups and downs, but really kicked ass. The end of season 3 is crazy. I want more right now.
The former roommate turned me onto it. Caught all of this season. The last 10 seconds of the last two episodes is jaw-dropping HOLY SHIT!!! stuff.
Interesting- sounds like they are finally, after 3 seasons, turning into REAL bad guys instead of bumbling criminals.
Oh man. I haven't seen all the episodes, but I guess when Hank and Jesse started dealing themselves, Hank created this "Heisenberg" persona.
I had just finished watching those two episodes back to back when I came here and wrote my "Holy shit" post. I like that they are accepting the fact that they are real bad guys and sort of having that internal struggle with how to deal with it. There is no turning back, Walt (not Hank, Hank is the DEA agent) can never pretend like he was just in it for his family again. It's way past that now.
I love how calculating Walter is. (Yup, I got my names mixed up.) It starts out with compromising his morals by making meth because of the money involved, he almost saves himself by walking away, and now he's just become totally amoral. If it makes sense to do it, just do it. Don't worry about it being "wrong." The Chicken Man's enforcer is a real interesting character too. How long's he been around. I like the levels of complexity he has and the...mutual respect?...he and Walt have for each other.
I just rented the first disk of Season 1 on Netflix and watched it last night. I'm digging it so far. That pilot episode was awesome! Great set-up. I never heard of Brian Cranston before this. The man's a damn good actor.
Bumping for future reference, I've got about five episodes left in Season Three, and I'm pissing pants. I just got done watching Hank in the parking lot with the cartel brothers. Holy shit.
That didn't take long. It's been announced that Season 3 of Breaking Bad will show up on Blu-Ray in July.
I fucking knew that it was a mistake to watch the second to last episode of of Season 3 before my DVR snags the finale tomorrow night.
And it will be a bigger mistake to watch the finale before you can start Season 4 this summer. The end will give you mental blue balls if you have to wait several months to a year (like me) to see what's next.
I know what you're saying Marso, there were some slow developments, I even lost interest and let it wallow on my DVR for a while, but the latter of of Season 2 picked up, and Season 3 has been a rocket full of tiger blood straight from Mars.
Well, maybe I ought to pick it up from the S2 finale and go forward from there. The first part of S2 just couldn't hold my attention. At least not against other TV shows, video games, and Wordforge. It was getting to seem like one of those shows where nothing ever seemed to happen.
When does Heisenberg first come out? If you're skipping S2, It is probably useful to have seen a couple of the Heisenberg episodes as S4 comes along.
I need to go watch and refresh myself before Season 4 starts. It's all one big season to me at this point. When Heisenberg comes about the show goes to the next level in my opinion. I'm forgetting character names, but the chicken man was also a great character.
You guys are going to be starting on Season 4, and I haven't seen Season 3 yet. I'm envious! A friend of mine who watches it on cable says some really great things are in store for me in Season 3...I can't wait!
Night before last, AMC started running the entire series, beginning with the pilot. Between now and the Season 4 premiere a week from this Sunday, they're running 2-4 episodes a night, starting around 12am CST (though the start times do vary). I've got my DVR set up to record every one of them. I'm 2 and a half episodes into Season 1 and, so far, I'm really digging the show.
Loved the show from the beginning, but it really starts rocking in Season 3. The stakes keep getting higher, the deception keeps getting deeper. The last couple of episodes of Season 3 had me going "Oh...my...God." The conclusion of the season was absolutely stunning. There's no going back, now.
Good to know it gets better because I think I 'm starting to get to the part where it slows down a bit, not much has happened in the past few episodes I've watched. I still think it's a pretty great show though, I love the premise of it and Walt to me is always excellent to watch.
