I was wondering when the hell this was coming back. Then again, I'm not sure where they can go with it after last seasons' finale. I hope this doesn't turn into another one of those good shows that goes on past its prime, turns to shit and dies a lingering death because someone got greedy.
Great news - Breaking Bad Season 5 is July 15. Shitty news - assholes are splitting the 'season' across two years - the 2nd half of season 5 doesn't start until July 2013.
Are you kidding me? So we'll get, what, six episodes this summer and the remaining six next year? Motherfuckers.
What's the point of that? Why not just order two full seasons? If they need to bring in some writing talent, we can lend them John Castle.
I hate tiny little seasons and split seasons...they do this with Doctor Who now and it just pisses me off. More and more commercials and less and less shows.
I received S4 last week and blew through it in a few days. Pure awesome. The last episode of season 4 is one of the best hours of television ever and the ending left me absolutely stunned. If there was any doubt before, there isn't any now: I can't wait for Season Five!
Due to a fit of non-flying this week (been sitting on my ass for three straight days now, guarding a broken jet), I've actually whipped through S3 of this show and am about 5 eps into season 4. It is good stuff; I'm enjoying it more this time around than the first time I tried it, but it still doesn't grab me the same way Deadwood or Justified do.
Season 5.1 is freakin' awesome so far. Not a wasted note. I'm rethinking my anger at them splitting the season in two. If it was all over forever in a few weeks, I think I'd be pretty depressed. As is, at least we'll have some more episodes to look forward to next summer.
Yeah, I haven't been bumping the thread, it's not like there's anything to complain about. I'm content to sit back and enjoy the ride.
Is this the show about a meth dealer? If so, I can't imagine myself appreciating it. I detest with every fiber of my being meth heads.
The central character is an illicit manufacturer of meth, yes. However, the show in no way glamorizes meth; in fact, the meth-heads you see in the show are usually comically stupid and/or disgusting in some way or another. The show is really about a good, well-intentioned man who, when things are looking grim and desperate, chooses to do something illegal and immoral. His initial belief is that he can get in, make some money, and get out, but he is disastrously wrong: once in the narcotics game, one must play according to its ruthless logic. Consequently, the good man is gradually corrupted until, at last, he bears little resemblance to the character at the beginning. Having taken the journey with him, the audience finds itself in a rather peculiar position: rooting for the bad guy. It's a wonderful show and I can only hope its upcoming resolution will be as great as many of the episodes have been.
Pilotspeak for 'down for maintenance.' It was like that when I was assigned to it and had to wait a little longer than anticipated for them to finish working on it. Now I can't even remember what the write-up was- I never did fly that damn plane last week.
Okay, prediction time, spoilers in the sense that my prediction will hold true. Skylar and Jesse both want out, they're gonna team up to undermine Walt and kick him out of the business. The 52 year old Walt with the M-60 is gonna be gunning for them in the future.
Wouldn't be surprised. Skylar and Jessie appeared together in one episode more than the rest of the series combined. Can't be happenstance. I'm guessing they get to Todd, who delivers the coup de grace. Total guesswork and probably not correct. I miss Mike.
The flash forward scene, at least to me, seemed that Walt was running. And perhaps (a year in the future) has gathered his method to extract revenge?
Maybe. However, you use a sniper rifle or a handgun to take revenge. You use an M-60 heavy machine gun to make a last stand.
Yeah, but as soon as he started spouting off about the cut taken out to pay off "his guys", and "this is the way it's gonna be", I was like "uh-oh...he's gotta go..".
Okay, couldn't wait for the Blu-Rays. Watched all of the episodes of S5 (upto and including the 9/2 episode) on Amazon streaming video. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. This show amazes me with its continual ability to up the ante. The episodes in S5 have been among the best. [?=Spoilers within]"Dead Freight" just may be my favorite episode ever. I love watching Walt and Jesse do clever stuff, but this scheme--TO STEAL 1000 GALLONS OF A CHEMICAL OFF A TRAIN WITHOUT ANYONE REALIZING--was executed beautifully. And, just when they're celebrating success, that little kid shows up and Todd pops him. Whoa. That seems to be the Rubicon that Jesse won't cross, but Walt will. Loved Gomez's "Hi" to the lawyer they caught with all the money for Mike's guys. RIP Mike. Great character, and he didn't go down like a bitch ("Shut the fuck up and let me die in peace"). He will be missed. And that final episode ("Gliding Over All")...With Mike out of the way, Mike's guys are fucking toast!!! Great sequence. And I don't buy FOR ONE SECOND that Walt is really "out." This is a new lie-within-a-lie to get back in Skyler's good graces. With all the talk of "empire" and his INTERNATIONAL expansion via Madrigal/Lydia, there's just no way Walt will up and quit. And that last scene...AT LAST!...HANK KNOWS! HANK FUCKING KNOWS!!! I just love watching Walt embrace his inner Heisenberg in this season. I've gradually come to realize that Heisenberg is now the true personality; it's Walter White that's an act. [action=Paladin]gets as giddy as a schoolgirl waiting for the second half of S5.[/?][/action]
Agreed on all counts. My daughter and I were on the edge of our seats during "Dead Freight". On a typical show, there's no real suspense there because you "know" that the "heroes" are going to pull off the caper. Not with Breaking Bad. Gilligan's the type who could write that plot with a much less predictable outcome. As written, even the "Whew! We did it!" ending was punctuated with something completely unexpected. My oldest daughter's reaction (despite the fact that we've been after her to tone down her language): "Ho-lee fuck! We both had similiar reactions to the ending of episode 8. As I said before, while I wish that episode 9 was airing next Sunday, part of me is glad that we'll have another summer to look forward to.
