Every time I encounter vampires I drink a 'cure disease' potion immediately afterward. (After I clear the dungeon). That way you'll be clear if you were infected and missed the msg, which can happen easily in the heat of battle. My first character forgot to do that once and that was the one time he got infected, so I had to play through the storyline of finding and getting cured...
Very VERY interesting info... Almost all of Tamriel is mapped out in Skyrim, beyond those invisible borders that you cant walk through. Could mean some epic mods and DLC's http://ppsh-41.tumblr.com/post/13145143504/entire-tamriel-landmass-built-into-skyrim
Yes, in the game the book is written by "Revan" but I believe it's just a play on letters- the game "Thief" was done by a company called Raven. I know about Darth Revan, but there is no tongue in cheek to associating his name to a book 'Thief' in Tamriel.
My sole point being, I've never heard of Raven/Thief or whatever, so obviously I was going to think KOTOR if there was a "Revan" reference, whether it be a typo or whatever.
Finally passed level 80 in Smithing. I can finally confirm that I like my armor how I like my women... Ebony, Enchanted and Flawless!
Im beta testing the 1.4 patch right now. The difference in terms of performance and load times is amazing. I run an old Athlon dual core 6000+, 4gb DDR2 and a GTX260 and I'm now running the game completely maxed out,... and it runs nice
Is it me or are the Thalmor totally Romulan. The High Elves always used to be a bit haughty, but they have definitely turned into Romulans now.
I don't like the look and portrayal of elves in this game at all. They look half like Goblins, behave like Romulans, and have no separate culture, areas that they live, or anything like that. At least the Orcs have their compounds where I can raid, pillage, and slay.
Just browsing through the iOS App store and found the Skyrim Alchemy app. 99¢ and worth every penny and then some. I spent 12 in game hours just concocting potions last night. I can now leave all my ingredients and potions at my Breezehome and only take what I need. In the past, I'd be weighed down with over 60 lbs of potions and ingredients. This sucked when I switched to Heavy Armour. Also, I've made a legendary Ebony Dagger with 45 hit points on it. I enchanted it with soul absorb and honestly, I like better than my soul absorb steel sword with even less hit points. Thinking about making another with health absorb. I'm wondering if I could use only daggers instead of swords and axes if I can get that many hit points out of a dagger.
Is it me, or does it seem like long range sniping with a bow is a lot easier in Skyrim than Oblivion? In Oblivion, you had to factor in hold over on really long range shots, but in Skyrim, it seems like that's automatically adjusted for you. The arrow goes to point of aim no matter how far the shot is.
BTW - Safety Tip If you try to sprint, shout, and jump at the same time, the fingers of your left hand start curling up, claw like, uncontrolably and the only way to stop it is to shove a rusty nail through the palm of your hand.
Having fun with another nord- Ragnar! Less of the 'noble jarl' or 'thegn' than the original and a bit more of a freebooter- he's got a touch of Conan in him. Had some stuff to do up near Solitude but made the mistake of doing the Thalmor Embassy mission first, so Delphine took off back to Riverwood with the lion's share of my gear. So I had to rescue the Gray-mane dude from the Thalmor infested castle, but I had no gear. (I role-played it- he wasn't going to trek back to Riverwood and back to accomplish this mission). So he raided some Imperial patrols, sold off the gear to the stormcloak quartermaster and in Solitude, forged a couple items, and went with mix-matched light/heavy armor. He spent his last 500 gold (that he had with him) on a merc and went and took down that castle as well as the Forsworn stronghold for the Jarl of Markarth. It's pretty cool to role-play something like that without all the gear and swag you've built up over the course of the game. Very fun!!
I've managed to remain out of the entire Imperials/Stormcloak conflict at this point and apparently, the developers don't like it. Early on, I cleared a few dungeons and was offered a spot in the Imperial Army, to which I declined. Can't say that I've spent much time in Windhelm so I was not offered a spot among the Stormcloaks yet. So now I'm at a point where I have to convince Ulfricc and Tullius to meet at High Hrothgar for a peace summit, but Tullius seems to need me to join the Imperials before I can get the right speach options. WTF?
Well, you can join one side or the other and never take on a mission. So join the Imps as a matter of political expediency, get 'em to the table, and then press on. The conference is pretty interesting. The way to avoid it entirely is to have one side or the other take Whiterun- then you can use the dragon trap without any pesky peace conference.
After tooling around with a "training" character, I re-started....for serious. It's a Nord, kind of Barbarian/Ranger. Combat oriented (mostly with a bow), but also really sneaky. Finally, as a nod to my inner homo, it's a chick! Here's a screen cap... [?=Possibly slightly NSFW because...Nexus!][/?]
"If ya havin' Dragon problems I feel bad for ya, son! I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one!" Level 43 at this point! I'm a a point where I can sneak up on a Sabre Cat in the wild and take him out with one arrow from my Exquisite Ebony Bow of Burning that I fashioned and enchanted myself. Dragons are no problem at all. Even the fight with Alduin was a breeze. The occasional Forsworn Briarheart is still a challenge however.
I have to be geeky and admit I'm on about my 8th character by now. Highest I've got is about level 40 before starting again
Those Briarhearts are tough bastards. I usually try to overwhelm them as quickly as possible before they get rolling on me.
After a few characters it seems that about level 40-45 is sort of where you have the game licked, and it's time for a new char. I've read about people advancing into the 70's and I'm like: why? At that point you are a friggin' demigod and nothing can touch you.
I have so much more to do. I have to find out what happens in the main quest line. There are a few side missions I want to do as well... Although joining the Dark Brotherhood and Theives Guild is not in my character's... well.... character. Maybe I'll play it again as a poor person who turns to a life of crime.
Agreed, but that's where I've gone with different play styles - take away the toys and try as an out and out mage, or thief. I doubt I'll be replaying this one though. Especially as Mass Effect 3 is out next month!
I've been making paralyzing potions and damage magicka regens like crazy. The next Briarheart I run into is going to get a sword-full of all that.
