Petition to Reconsider Rep

There is no "both ways" about it. Everyone starts out the same when it comes to rep and their posting dictates where it goes from there. So what it comes down to is a bunch of people whining that they think getting neg-repped is mean and that no one should be able to do it so we can all magically get along.

not doable. Not doable at all. For the umpteenth time, "agrees", "disagrees", "comments", whatever, are not stored. Only the actual rep score change is stored, and whatever that score change corresponds to is shown. So agrees, disagrees, and (optionally) comments, must have different integer point values.

Difficult, but probably doable as a weapon of moderate destruction. It would be possible to build one such that you could use all your points for a day in one rep, but not to save them up. There are no rollover rep points.

John, I've got a serious question for you: Are people out carpet negrep bombing you? Is it really an issue where you worry that you will be repped into the red?

Oh, and for the record, here is the way the ideal Rep Bomb would work: You get the standard daily amount of rep. But in addition, once a day you can use a Rep Bomb--you go to a window, select a poster, and select the amount of rep you want to give them. Every point you rep them is deducted from your own rep on a 1 for 1 basis. You cannot deficit rep. If you have 500 rep, you can't rep 501 points. If you are at 0 or below you cannot Rep Bomb.

Absolutely nothing is different besides who is complaining, giving lie to both sides claims in the matter. The world doesn't end without neg rep and neither do assholes suddenly morph into nice folks without neg rep.
