http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19570254 The 'Arab Spring' has taken a nasty turn for the worse here....
What does this have to do with the Arab Spring? This is a bunch of militia whackos (driven by religion, surprise, surprise) attacking the US, using some youtube bollocks as an excuse. It doesn't have anything to do with new elected officials in either Libya or Egypt. The Islamic world hardly needs any fuel to be dislike the US. Anyhow, just because several Arab countries have overthrown their regimes, it doesn't mean that by default they have become civilised democracies overnight and have removed all lawlessness. To assume that the Arab Spring = shiny new dawn would be foolhardy.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/13/w...-libya-is-reported-killed.html?pagewanted=all Ugh. Look forward to a week or two of Danish-cartoonist-attack hysteria, folks --just the thing to spice up an election season.
The spoiled children are throwing another tantrum that their Saturday morning cartoon is not taken seriously by the adults. Muslims continue to prove that they can't be trusted to behave like animals.
Four people dead because someone couldn't deal with a movie? And I'm sure the timing wasn't lost on these bastards...
Note, this is a movie that opened in exactly 1 theater - and was closed after 1 night because no one watched it. But a trailer got posted on youtube, and now good people are dead. I'm sorry, I get annoyed by what the Religious Right is doing here. But they arent' the Taliban. THIS is the Taliban. Nothing like it exists in Christianity right now. That shit stopped a hundred years ago. Until you can post a picture of Mohammed without fearing for your life, there is no equivalence between the religions. No, its not excusable - it is what it is. And good people of all faiths or none at all should stand against it.
Coming from the guy who kowtows to religious zealots in his actual daily live to the extent that he goes apeshit over the word "fuck".
This isn't the Taliban. The Taliban are Pashtun and native to Afghanistan. It's just armed nutters abusing religion to lead the ignorant and easily influenced into violence. As for "nothing like it in Christianity", we've just had a thread detailing how 46% of Americans think the world was invented by God in the last 10k years. We have other Christians openly preaching agression and bigotry (Terry Jones, Westboro and so on). I don't think it's correct to pretend that Islam is the only religion that has nutters, even if said nutter don't openly go out and attack places. Hell, African Christians are busy engaging in violence. The real reality is that it's religion religion itself that is the cause of so many of the world's social problems. Throughout history it's caused more death and destruction than it has done good. The sooner it fades away the better. Alas, I think that there are too many stupid people on the planet for that to happen anytime soon. Lemmings, every last follower of religion.
It is, legally speaking. But it's an attck my militias, not a country or representives of the Egyptian or Libyan authorities. So who would you go to war against?
Yes, I'm well aware of that. The 'American Taliban' meme has been placed on the Christian fundamentalists. Currently, they don't reach anywhere near the level of the Muslim fundamentalists, who feel it is OK to kill you if you disrespect their religion - or in the case of the US envoy, LOOK like someone who disrespected your religion. Over and over and over again with a specific religion. Islamic terrorism is ubiquitious these days - ask Vincent Van Gogh's grand kid. Or you could, if they didn't murder him. In Holland. Islam has a disproportionate number of these attacks. You can't ignore it, and these attacks are INFINITELY worse than worrying about whether the asshole on the school board is going to try to sneak creationism into your science class. There is a difference, and it is real and tangible and covered in innocent people's blood. You should stop defending it. It makes you look like an asshole.
You're kidding me, right? The United States: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aryan_Nations ("The Federal Bureau of Investigation has called Aryan Nations a "terrorist threat",[1] and the RAND Corporation has called it the "first truly nationwide terrorist network" in the US.[2]") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hutaree http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ku_Klux_Klan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_of_God_(USA) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Covenant,_The_Sword,_and_the_Arm_of_the_Lord http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lambs_of_Christ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phineas_Priesthood http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_Freemen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_fundamentalism#Militancy_and_evangelicals http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Jesus_Christ-Christian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centennial_Olympic_Park_bombing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Edwards_Ivins http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knoxville_Unitarian_Universalist_church_shooting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_George_Tiller http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Holocaust_Memorial_Museum_shooting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-abortion_violence#By_country http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_violence_against_LGBT_people_in_the_United_States (admittedly, not all of these are attacks carried out by Christians, but there's too many to sort through them all) Worldwide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Norway_attacks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Liberation_Front_of_Tripura http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provisional_Irish_Republican_Army http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_violence_in_Orissa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord's_Resistance_Army http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God's_Army_(revolutionary_group) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_sex_abuse_cases There's probably more, but I got bored. Yes, and if people can go to abortion clinics, be homosexual, or have any sort of lifestyle different from Christian extremists without fearing for their lives, you'd have a point. Plenty of religions have violent extremists, Islam is not special in that regard. I don't hold the entire Muslim world responsible for these extremists, just as I don't hold all of Christianity responsible for their share of extremists. But the irrefutable fact is that they do exist.
We'll probably invade an unrelated country in the region using false evidence. I'm looking at you, Ethiopia!!
I'm not defending it. I never do. Only idiots who can't actually read my posts properly get died you into the muslim apologist bullshit. I have made my distain for all religion, including Islam. But, and this is what people can't stand, I am able to spot the festering bigotry that exists towards muslims that does not exist towards other religions in the West. It's always boiled down to "they", just like white power types see Jews as a "they". It's a fundemental wrong and idiotic sterotyping that assumes, for instance, a rich, educated muslim from, say, Abu Dhabi, or perhaps somewhere closer to home like Michigan, is the same as a poor illterate one with a hand gun in a war zone. It's pretty stupid to assume that's the case. So all I do is try and bring a bit of education to it. People like to forget that not only did I lose family in 9/11 but that I have Jewish roots and my grandfather literally lost part of his own family in the Holocaust. I know what hate and bigotry is about first hand. I try and got to the bottom of each instance with accuracy, but incidents like these attacks are what happens when human beings give way to hate for hate's sake. It would be easier to jump on the bandwagon of popularity and pos reps but that shit doesn't matter to me as much as it would some like, say, Hood. Hood's a good example actually. He works for the NHS, not only does he meedically treat muslims on a regular basis but he's almost certain to be working with them as well, especially muslim doctors and nurses. Yet he comes on here and throws out the "muslim apologist" shit, despite the fact that when he goes to work he spends countless hours giving free medical care to muslims and working with them closely. He's probably doing more for the muslims of Britain then any of the rest of us, the same Muslims that people like Maud, Sokar, MF and skinoftwat, think are taking over Europe and setting up Sharia law. Should we be havign a go at Hood for rolling his sleeves up and contributing to the "Islamification of Europe"? Point is, that we can all come out with bluster and bullshit on here and pretend we are a certain type of person, but the reality is that in real life a lot of us are pribably quite a bit closer who what we claim not to be. I just try to give as many people as I can a chance and judge them by their actions rather than what I decide they are in advance.
Oh bullfuckingshit! "They" (i.e. muslims) are burning and bombing embassies, and murdering people in the streets who they feel have offended their precious religion. That's when they are not bombing innocent civilians or killing their own women. This isn't some trumped up Goebles-style propoganda, it's real. Turn on the news and watch it happen live on CNN! It's happening right in front of your face, and you refuse to accept it. Islam is a cancer, and we need to find a cure before it destroys society as we know it.
The 2 worst things in human history... WW1 and WW2, how many muslim nations were directly responsible for it? Might want to realign your 'who's the bad guy' theories.
Shall we do a quick comparison? Oh, wait, WF can't handle a page of that size. I'll break up the list of Islamic motivated terrorist attacks by 100 per post. I'll have to use 1,800 posts though - just since 2001. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Islamic_terrorist_attacks The following is a partial list of acts of terrorism committed by Muslims for the purpose of achieving varying political and/or religious ends. The list uses the same inclusion criteria as the article Muslim terrorism and includes failed attempts that qualify these criteria. In total, there have been over 18,000 Islamic terrorist attacks since 2001. The number of Americans killed in radical Christian attacks is less than the fingers of my left hand. No, I'm not kidding - Islamic attacks over the same time period are more than a thousand times more prevalent. You can't even list them all.
Except for thousands and thousands of attacks. You completely and utterly have your head up your ass. Reality disagrees.
That's a bit of a straw man post. I don't see where Dan made that statement "no muslims have ever killed anyone". It's pathetic how so many of you twist statements of comparison into "muslims are all innocent" posts. Six million Jews, gypies, hompsexuals and so on, were killed in the Holocaust - by Christians. That is five times that amout who died in the Armenian Genocide. Now, I'm not seeking to compare numbers, but simply recognise that what Dan is saying is that the suggestion that Christians are squeaky clean and incapable of commiting the same violence is patently untrue. It's quite simply utter bullshit to pretend that one Abrahamic religion is worse than another. If you really want to have this debate that, historically speaking, over the past few centuries it is Judaism that has been the least violent, certainly not Christianity. The world would be better off without religion, full stop.
