How many white Presidents could do as shitty a job as Obama did and get reelected? :marathon:

This was delicious and got me laid. I had to substitute mozzarella for cheddar, but I imagine it's even better with mozzarella.

They seem not to understand that most of the country doesn't think Obama is doing a shitty job.

So it must be racism on the part of everyone else to reelect him.

    The echo chamber again.

Truth be told, his oratory is really subpar--as is his charisma. If a white person had his political skills, his name would be Dan Quayle. Or maybe Joe Biden.

Poor white people need to stop complaining about the fact that they aren't as successful as the Obamas.

In 2004, the impression of President Bush was considerably better than what it became later in his second term after Hurricane Katrina, the Iraq insurgency dragging on, and the financial crisis.

That's the problem with liberals, they constantly bitch and whine when everyone else doesn't like their guy, yet they expect us to give him a break when he doesn't deserve it.

To date I have not seen Obama do one single solitary thing as President that is praiseworthy. Not a thing. And this is coming from a guy that hates Bush and thinks Clinton did a decent job.

from the look of things, Bush was in steady decline three weeks after putting troops on the ground.

Much like Obama's second term, it's safe to say he got in on the "incumbent advantage" vs a lame duck opponent despite his incompetence during the war, the katrina clean up, and the financial crisis.

Don't get me wrong, there was a lot about Clinton that I didn't like, including nailing White House interns and perjuring himself in the process. But he worked to balance the budget, and let the country during one of the best economic booms in our history.

I have never given Clinton credit for either of those. Clinton never even PROPOSED balancing the budget until the Republicans took control of both houses of Congress and he saw he was never going to get any new spending programs passed.

Clinton basically then endorsed a balanced budget as a goal because he could use it to keep the Republicans from cutting taxes.

I've said it before many times and I believe it is 100% true.

Why did the U.S. end up with a balanced budget at the end of the 1990s?

    Political Gridlock in Washington

    1) The new GOP majority would not pass any new Clinton domestic spending programs.

    2) Clinton would not sign any new tax cuts.

    3) The military budget stayed basically flat.

    4) The growing economy brought in a flood of new revenues.

So unless you are going to credit Al Gore with inventing the internet (as he claimed despite his offenders denials "took the iniative in creating the internet") then crediting the Clinton Admin. with the 1990s tech boom is simply false.

This is perhaps the stupidest thing you've ever said. And that's quite impressive given your body of work. No closing Gitmo by executive order, we demand legislative process! The executive didn't force the legislature to close Gitmo! We demand satisfaction! Fuck Obama, he's a dictator! Fuck Obama, he accepts the legislative action of Congress!

You're full of shit, as usual. Clinton ran in '92 on balancing the budget. And he appointed a deficit hawk for his first treasury secretary.

Have you heard of the Affordable Care Act? Even though Republicans chose not to support it for political reasons, it was written on what had until that time been conservative principles. It looks nothing like the plan liberals wanted. Every inch was given, and yet Republicans still demagogues the shit out of it.

I don't like Obama, W nor Clinton. I don't think Clinton has got near enough credit for NAFTA, and the Repeal of Glass Steagal, both of which had far reaping ramifications this past decade.

If you think it's bad here turn on MSNBC and watch Chris Mathews or Al Sharpton. They're already talking about Obama's "legacy" and how horrible we all are for not acknowledging it. I give Obama credit for getting Bin Laden, but beyond that I can't think of anything to praise him for. Sorry. At least with Clinton there was Welfare Reform, Job Growth, and a Federal Budget Surplus.

The current budget, where Obama negotiated to chain social security to CPI.

Watering down gun control before it even gets to a vote by taking the AGW and magazine ban out of it.

Restoring the tax rate on the wealthy to only the pre-Bush numbers, when there was strong support in the Democratic party to increase the number of tax brackets over a million dollars.

In contrast to the GOP, which was willing to destroy the full faith and credit of the US for a negotiating ploy. 'Whats the use of a hostage if you aren't willing to shot it?' indeed.

Every president claims to want a balanced budget.

Clinton never even proposed one or a plan to reach one until long after the GOP took control of congress.

But I did like Robert Reich (is that whom you're speaking of?)

You can prove race is a factor only by finding people who would have voted for McCain (or anyone else or nobody) but for the fact that Obama was black.

To me McCain was the best of two bad options.

In 2012, Romney was even worse but still better than the incumbent.

But remember, MOST American presidential elections have come down to "I really can't stand the other guy".

In 1980, Reagan was supposed to be just about the weakest possible Republican candidate and basically an "anyone but Carter" choice.

In American politics, please remember that Richard Nixon won. TWICE. The second in one of the most massive landslides in history. And I doubt that was due to the massive affection people had for R.M. Nixon.
