I'm going to lay aside the issue of a couple of trekies trying to marginalize another fandom.

We've had boards dedicated to small subgroups of the board before. This one is even a subforum so its not on the main page. If we're trying to attract a horde of Bronies pretty poor placement.

Also, how many Bronies have come so far? John? He was already hear. Who else? So far the only thing Larry seems obsessed with is Beer. Until the discussion/lingo/whatever starts to be a problem, what is the point of all this objecting?

As to the Starscape Lounge, this was set up to give Starscapers a place where they could preserve their community. Over time most of the discussion will be moved out here. I imagine after a couple months it will just be a lounge with all the non-community threads taking place in the main forum.

    Oh get over yourselves guys.
I have no interest in 'bronies', I'd rather scratch out my eyes with a rusty razor than watch My Little Pony.
But these people saying its somehow threatening to have a bronies forum are way overreacting.

I personally think comic books and superheroes are just for children, doesnt mean Im going to try and stop and adults stupid enough to indulge in that kind of thing from doing so...

    Why so serious?

Bailey is right, Starscape has had time too attract posters. If they had more Brony participation, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

:wtf: Normally you're the calm, rational one around here, but now you're freaking out like a little pussy. And from the shit you've spewed, I'd say you're at very least extremely misinformed. The new MLP was made to have a broader appeal, and as can be seen, it lived up to that. I, personally, don't see the appeal, but I do see the quality in its writing even if it's not my thing. Like most fandoms, it has an extremely annoying group within it that overdoes everything, but personally I just like to make fun of those people. You, on the other hand, act like they touched your junk. :jayzus:

I was going to post something similar to this when I got caught up on the thread. It carries an aura of pedophilia. I was also getting a little tired of everyone dancing around why it is "creepy".

Your argument is pretty much "people shouldn't watch television not aimed at their target demographic." Do you ever watch the Price is Right? You probably have, does that mean you want to molest an old lady? Of course not.

It's mostly targeted towards seniors. Hence the overwhelming amount of adult diaper, pain reliever, and gold bond ads.

    That's an awful analogy.

Or would you consider a middle aged man playing on the slides in a kids playground to be equivalent to one playing chess with retirees in a park?

I watch SpongeBob, et al, but it's because my children watch them. One thing I like about SpongeBob is that they put in enough adult humor so it's not absolutely miserable for me to watch. But, I wouldn't seek out SpongeBob if I had no kids.

If I had no kids and still went off the deep-end of SpongeBob fandom, I would expect people to think that a bit odd and maybe creepy.

Of course it's an awful analogy, because I don't believe someone's entertainment preferences have a necessary correlation with their sexual preferences. A lot of the television I watched is "geared towards children", all it says about me is that I enjoy cartoons.

Wrong about what? They aren't old? I'm pretty sure I'm right about that. And I'll go further, and say that you and Zombie are wrong about them being pedophiles.

    pretty much...
I'm just looking at the Bronie thing as something we can tease the SS folks with for a while till it gets stale. What I'm reading of the posts so far, they seem pretty cool.

Fyre-Flye is Lauren Faust, the creator of the show. That's from her DeviantArt page, and the post itself is about a year and a half old by now. She's gone on to say many times, in interviews, that she did not create the show solely for little girls.
See, it's not that you're uncomfortable with it, I get that, it's that you don't know anything about it but have made strong assumptions that are grossly misinformed, and you're willing to lay those assumptions on people who have done nothing to you.

Here, have some information on Bronies via the Brony Research Project (independent researchers who study fandoms): http://www.bronystudy.com/id1.html
