Africans actually are willing to work hard and they seem to value education making great sacrifices to insure their children become educated with a marketable skill. Their big problem is that after finishing their education and a young African who is now a trained doctor or scientist tends to immigrate to the west where they can easily make 20-50 times as much and live a much better lifestyle than back at home. Naturally, the west is happy to take such skilled professionals but it does leave their home countries continually short of skilled people. There is even a split between A the culture of African blacks, who highly value hard work and education as a means to get ahead, and American-blacks who feel this is selling out. Not all but many.

Compare that to Saudi Arabia where education is free, thanks to oil money, yet many do not bother with it and over half which do get degrees get them in unmarketable garbage like Islamic Studies.

Oil gave the gulf states a golden opportunity to remake their societies but unlike East Asian they were too stupid to make it work and maximize the potential. This will eventually bite them in the ass and they will understand what an opportunity they have wasted.

I have to admit I am still pissed off about my tour of duty in Iraq. Every time the bullets started to fly the cowardly Arabs in the ING would pile into their Toyota pick ups and run away leaving the Americans to fight their battles for them. Even after the Americans left the Iraqis were still in the habit of simply running away at the first sign of danger. That is how the Iraqi Army could outnumber ISIS 10 to one yet still lose because all of their soldiers cowardly ran away. They have a culture of cowardice and I have no respect for that.

I'm reminded of a story I read sometime after 9/11 about a Japanese diplomat who was flying home from Saudi Arabia. j It's been a while so this is a very loose paraphrasing.

An Arab businessman, worried about all the chaos going on with Iraq, Afghanistan, and other countries asked the Japanese how his country managed to go from feudalism (or some such) to becoming a key component of the West while retaining their unique culture, as if the Japanese knew some secret way that has eluded the Arab countries. The diplomat replied "We didn't. We had to throw away most of our culture and invent a new one."

Some American Muslims are doing the same, becoming fanatical about SEC football instead of Jewish conspiracies and fundamentalist Islam, but unlike the Japanese, there's always that horrible book filled with horrible things to draw their children back into it.

And note that the "soldier" who made this announcement was merely suspended for what, in any kind of a sane world, would amount to an act of mutiny during an active conflict. Unless Israel actually supports the murderous gassing of civilians and wishes to take on the associated costs and chaos, this "soldier's" actions are far more dangerous to Israel and contrary to Israel's interests than shooting his commanding officer dead would have been.

I don't support the death penalty, but executing this mutinous "soldier" on the spot would have rid the world of a piece of filth and done a whole lot of of good for Israeli/Palestinian relations.

I've posted about my time there previously in The Green Room. New York and Las Vegas for 1-2 weeks each and 3 occasions in California, where I've been all over the state exploring. I like San Francisco and the countryside around it in particular which is beautiful.

As I've repeated before, I oppose US foreign policy. Making other inferences from that is not warranted.
