Remains to be seen. I don't think the term "razor-thin" should be thrown around easily. A victory of 10,000 votes or more is not "razor-thin" IMO. They are close races, but to count as "razor-thin" the result should be within a few hundred votes out of the millions that were cast. In my mind, even a full tenth of a percent is enough to get us well outside of "razor-thin" territory. Comparing it to literal races, I remember when I used to do race-walking. If two people finished within a few meters of each other, after five or ten kilometers, that was never considered "razor-thin". Sure, it's close, but it was a clear victory. Once, though, on a very short race (only 2 km), I won by about 10cm. That, I will admit, was a "razor-thin" victory.
AWESOME way to start the day! This is better than being five years old and waking up on Christmas morning to see Santa Claus taking a big shit in your Fruit Loops after destroying all your presents! 2021 just might end up being much, much more.....interesting than 2020. The Democrats will have total control - the world is their oyster! I can't wait to see America get the government we deserve. This reminds me of a saying (what scenario doesn't?) that goes something like this: Be careful what you wish for, it just might come true
be that as it may, the shithole states in the middle will still grow the crops to feed our overlords. Hell there might be a mandate on 21 JAN 2021 to make farmers grow more crops or pay a hefty penalty in the form of a "suboptimal farm" tax.
damn I'm impressed! Walking fast is hard as HELL for people who have never tried it. In the Army a lot of people make sport of the soldiers who due to medical reasons (lingering injuries or whatever) can't run so they have to walk as part of their PT and even the PT test. One day one of NCO's who had her turn to be in charge of PT and was on a "walking profile" had the whole unit walk a couple of miles in a group at the pace she needs to walk to pass her PT test. HOLY SHIT we were hurting! Walking a uses a lot of different muscles than running. Breathing patterns are different too. We were tempted to "cheat" by running but she would dog out anyone who tried it. It was a train wreck but she got her point across!
I say potato, you say pomme de terre. Perhaps the term "razor-thin" was a bit melodramatic, but the point is that none of these races (including the recent presidential election) should have even been close. They should have been complete blow-outs. The fact that so many millions of Americans buy into Trump's bullshit while the Republican Party twiddles its thumbs is the real concern.
I think it is outside of 0.5%, but with so many votes, getting right on 0.5% is really hard unless they start rounding.
Glad to see someone who understands it. I was an athlete and then a coach, until I retired from the whole scene something like 15 or more years ago. I remember marathon runners in our club who didn't want to do race walking, because it was too hard! But even today, although I can't maintain 8 mph walking for any decent amount of time any more, I can still crank it up to 6 mph for short distances (say, a quarter-mile or a half-mile) if I'm in a hurry.
On that we agree completely. And that is indeed a real concern. A battle has been won here, but the war is far from over...
As opposed to the socialism they receive now, when 40% of all farm income has come directly from the US government as Trump ruined their markets on purpose.
Oh no, we might go back to a competent government that understands reality and does things for reasons of passion and compassion, not intentional cruelty.
Ain't no way I could walk 6 mph. That's slow (airborne shuffle) running speed. The fastest I ever walked for a sustained period was 4 mph. The army standard for a ruck march is 12 miles in 3 hours with a 35 pound (if memory serves) ruck and combat gear (rifle, helmet, etc) and it's something you really have to train for. Even without the ruck 4 mph walking is rough. But walking fast is a great hip flexor & core workout! About half of my cardio regimen is centered around incline treadmill walking (up to 15 percent grade) and 3.5 mph pushes me almost to the edge of gassing. Then I have to drop down to flat grade and run for a while to get a bit of a break.
I’m encouraged that GA is trending in the right direction. That’s the result of talent and capital taking hold in your state. FL has capital, but a definite lack of talent. Whenever I go to Atlanta I always notice the large number of college flags hanging outside people’s homes. And it’s not just a college football thing. These are legit academic colleges: GA Tech, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Florida, UNC, Vandy, etc. That’s enough to give Republicans fits. A well-educated workforce is the key to economic prosperity and it comes with the added benefit of democratic (small D and big D) ideas.
So what will be the signs of America turning into a dystopian socialist hellscape? Will it be people waiting in bread lines? Oh, wait ...
There's no way I could maintain it for a long time today, either. "Back in the day", I could do it for over an hour. But I was only average as an athlete. The best guys I compteted against could walk at 10 mph, and keep it up for a long, long time. The world champions today can keep it up for several hours. But I never faced a world-class walker. I did have the chance to compete against a couple who were at international level, though. They tended to pass me up regularly on the track...
General thoughts on the elections: Pandemic first, as any sane and competent government would do. Then 52 states by '22. I guess that's the 'shredding the Constitution' that Oldfella keeps talking about, you know, because we've never added states before. And finally, a general take - the fall of Atlanta means the end of the Confederacy - again.
1) agree, pandemic first 2) I welcome and endorse any future actions of the Biden/Harris regime. Matter-of-fact since I don't like to "half ass" things I hope that the hard-core radical left takes full control over every section of the Democratic party. Give the voters what they want in full measure! I only hope taxes go through the fucking roof (I can afford it - no feel good project is off the table) the violent crime rate escalates (shoulda picked a better zip code) the economy tanks (it's a continuous ebb & flow no matter what) every Supreme Court justice is an unhinged lunatic lefty (ya shoulda resolved your problem at the lowest level in the first place) abortions are strongly encouraged with financial incentives (I'm done having kids anyway) guns are outlawed * (watching law enforcement attempting to confiscate millions of semi-auto rifles with high capacity magazines from pissed off citizens will be entertaining & education for the whole neighborhood!) and police at all levels are defunded or abolished (starting with the President's Secret Service) and of course armed with only a notebook and a radio. Granted these are the very basic measures that I hope are put into place - the future is looking bright! * repeat offending criminals will be allowed to keep their guns because they need them for their livelihood (they have bills to pay too!) and more guns in the hands of violent criminals makes for a....wait for it....lively hood! Get it? 3) being a Yankee by birth I have little interest in the "Confederacy" of which you speak, but it makes for great History Channel shows.
OF, no need for such long-winded screeds. You could just simply type 'I'm a gullible rube with no ability to independently assess the truth of statements' and we'd already believe you. You've shown us who you are so many times. It would be silly not to believe you.
I want Biden to succeed because Trump was such a clusterfuck. That said, Biden 2020 almost certainly means Harris 2024, so it will be interesting to see what the Republicans do. Will they double down on Trumpish horse shit, or will sanity return and an actual qualified candidate emerge? Stay tuned!
If Biden succeeds as a moderate what sweeping new changes will occur? If the voters want the complete opposite of Trump why disappoint them? True though Harris will be HMIC and with The Squad by her side how can she fail? If the Republicans are smart* they will avoid distractions and let the Democrats be Democrats and focus on developing young talent to take advantage of the opening that the inevitable backlash from a Harris FUBAR regime will provide. * plenty of individual Republicans are smart, but the party as whole not so much. Maybe losing control of the government will light a fire under their ass
We don't need Biden to make Sweeping New Changes. We need him to fix all the shit the orange moron fucked up.
