Right, right, Noah's sons covered up his dick instead of playing with it.
    Wrong drunken dick story.
But the fact I even have to say that about the Bible....

Nothing earth-shattering, and nothing you haven't heard before. Denying bullies your attention is the first recourse, no matter how many sheltered soft-touch products of overindulgent parenting will insist on the deluded fantasy that you should never have to hear or see anything you dislike. Dealing with hurt feelings without shutting down is an essential life skill for functioning in the really real world .

Cyber "bullying"? Not a thing. Switch off the machine or quit being a fucking pussy about pixels on a screen.(dumb shit, low-effort "no u" reply incoming. :dayton: )

I would insist that practical self-defense training, situational awareness and de-escalation skills be a part of anyone's development. That said, threats of violence and obviously any physical violence will have to be reported if for no other reason than to limit your own liability, but this is NOT a foot in the door for whining to authorities every time you are merely offended. That is a terrible lesson to teach someone you hope will one day be a functional adult.

Consult psychologists for dealing with bullies? Fuck's sake. :jayzus: Harden the fuck up.

"Switch off or learn to ignore it" when it comes to cyber-bullying is not valid. Kids ARE still learning that hurtful words can be ignored. In my time, at least taunts stopped at the end of the school day, giving time to mentally recover. Cyber-bullies can and do harass their victims 24/7 via social media. Adults can have a hard enough time dealing with a torrent of abuse, let alone kids.

"Just switch off"? Not easily possible when kids need to be/are expected to be online to do homework or stay engaged with friends..

There are ways to protect kids from it, but at the end of the day forcing someone to change THEIR life to avoid YOU is what a bully WANTS.

Mental illness is a moral failing.
A right-winger saying any divergence from white, cis, hetero, male, able-bodied, able-minded is a moral failing?
    Wow, never saw that coming.

Again, just imagine UA on a suicide hotline.
The movie poster tagline would read "get ready to bury your loved ones!".

"See kids, what you do is you take all that trauma and smash it all down deep inside you. Bury it deep now, because pretty soon it'll turn into rage, and then it's liable to come bursting out when you least expect it."

UA is a fine example to kids of the sort of person they can grow up to be like if they bury all their emotions and normal human responses.

    A fucking awful person.

Horse shit. Everyone can fuck completely the hell off with this "I must have my mobile device and social media fix or I will literally DIE!! :weep:" nonsense. What they want and what they need are not always the same, and "ease" is irrelevant. Stop trying to be their "friend," and actually prepare them for adulthood.

Stop thinking your adulthood is going to apply to kids growing up in a digital era.

That would be cute if I'd claimed weakness were always physical, never mental. But that's too far into your wheelhouse to acknowledge, isn't it?

Should also be noted that a lot of mental illness in fighters and NFL players stems from actual brain damage, rather than simply being corrupted with the insideous lie that you are owed a world free of negative emotion.

That is to say that I state it plainly, rather than couching it in flowert rhetoric that allows the perpetrators to feel better about advancing a toddler’s mentality into adulthood. But it's the truth. People calling you names or saying hurtful things is negative emotions and nothing more. The imaginary concept of "emotional violence :weep: " should NEVER be conflated with or given the same priority as actual, physical violence.

Teenagers don't have to have an online presence to be victims of cyberbullying. Back in the day, rumors were spread word of mouth and that was referred to as bullying even back then. Now, rumors are spread via social media accounts. It's still bullying. and the victim only knows because "everyone knows".

When it comes to real life and not online, I'm guessing (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that you feel a kid who's being bullied should be taught to "defend themselves", i.e. get to the point where they can just beat the shit out of their tormenters. As someone who teaches real self-defense (not sporting arts like Tae Kwon do, MMA, judo...etc) I know the limitations of that mind set. Fighting leads to a number of outcomes and the potential bad ones far outnumber the potential good ones, no matter what the movies, tv shows and kid's books say. Bullies often travel in packs and getting the best of one can often just lead to attacks by groups, which has even fewer good potential outcomes.

Avoid first, then evade, then defend with force as a last resort. I am emphatically not suggesting anyone try to manipulate a situation towards an excuse to fight. Even if you don't get hurt, there are always potential legal repercussions, and cops tend to see right through BS excuses to have a brawl.

Don't assume I have no familiarity.

That is part of situational awareness. As is the fact that whining to parents and school faculty will usually just make it worse. There are no guarantees in life. You still need to be prepared to contend with it.

Yep. If they can’t defend themselves fuck ‘em. Weaklings deserve to get beat up and adults should never intervene. Might makes right.
