Daniel Penny has been identified as the man who killed Jordan Neely. https://twitter.com/SxarletRed/status/1654307060840890368
NEW YORK subway. Can't believe I didn't notice that before. The fact that people are harassed and attacked all the fucking time down there puts this in an entirely different light. And yes, I can hear it already. "New York Post Reeeeeee!" Fucking refute the facts or shut up. https://nypost.com/2023/01/09/attacks-on-nyc-subway-and-bus-workers-workers-hit-new-high-in-2022/
You're going to get angry at one too many ATMs, and some asshole's going to shoot you thinking you're a threat, and your posting history here will be used as evidence that you were a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off on someone. Oh, no, wait, you're not a black homeless man. Sorry, carry on with your stupidity.
Had a mental image of him lying in a blood puddle as a crane shot pulls back, and then we fade to clips of his angry-man shit posts acted out by a Sam Kinison impersonator while "a New York Minute" by Don Henley plays. But then I stepped back from even that, and thought "no that gives his life way more beauty than it deserves".
Yep. Quite frankly, there are too many people comfortable with a white former marine, Daniel Penny, executing a death sentence on a black homeless man for having the temerity to be upset that he's hungry, thirsty, homeless, and desperate. Anyone who sees what the marine did as justifiable is not a well person. My opinion, of course, but seriously, far, far too much "yeah, it's sad but he was no angel" energy going on here with some folks that we always see when a black man is murdered for existing. Granted, it's mostly @Uncle Albert, who hates everyone who doesn't conform to his notion of freedom (which is usually just die quietly out of my way), and @Jenee, who just doesn't care, but even the news outlets are in on it, with NBC using a quote claimed to be said by Neely, but was found to be given by a police officer who made the claim, one who arrived after Neely was already unconscious. The system will always protect itself, and we have to be mindful of that.
I totally forgot that the length of a chokehold needed to subdue someone is dependent on the crime rate in the locale where it occurred. Silly me.
it's amazing that i work with women who are five foot nothing who can deescalate EXACTLY this sort of person in this sort of situation. Al's okay though, as it justifies exterminating another useless eater. And yes, while there are an increase of subway attacks, there's no suggestion in this article they're being perpetrated by the unhoused or those with mental health issues (although there is one mention of a gun used to rob a fare collector). Maybe he should stick to the presented facts or shut up?
Are you out of your mind? The only purpose of government is to be mean to people. Point guns at bad guys. Lock troublemakers away. Tax your citizens. Litter your major highways with construction zones for the entire summer. Make your children sit in boring buildings all day to teach them stupid things like literacy and science and being nice to weird-looking people. That's why small government is best. Inflict government on those who deserve to get it, and no further. A government that's nice to the people it represents? At best that's my tax money being spent on something more than the bare minimum. Or it's something that should be left to private industry, because nice things are by definition outside government's competence. At worst it's outright socialism. Imagine seriously imagining a government that's actually, unironically here to help. Pfft, as if. People automagically become either incompetent or dedicated to being mean the moment they start working for government, silly.
Still waiting for Uncle Albert to notice this post and respond with "And just who decides who's non-functional?" That's how you can tell who's actually got the power, is: Who doesn't scream or wring their hands at the very idea of the power being used?
No, the amount of derelicts harassing and attacking people every goddamn day on those subways is undeniably pertinent. The functional people just trying to go about their business have to eventually start thinking "One more piss-stinking wretch comes at me down here, and I'm gonna choke a bitch." You can't be doing that, and you're gonna go to jail...
Functional people don't go round thinking they will murder the next person who gives them the creeps. That's Travis Bickle territory. Spoiler alert - he was a fucking nutcase.
Maybe not the first time, or the first ten times, but make it a few dozen.. Exactly how much do you expect people to tolerate?
You've whined enough here about your "scumbag neighbours" that there's clearly been enough provocation. So either you CAN tolerate it or you're a fucking pussy who likes to run his mouth. Get out there with the spring-loaded guns otherwise.
I run the junkies off when they try to follow me into the building. Haven't needed to apply any choke holds yet.
I'm not sure you've interpreted them not wanting to be in the same room as you correctly. It says something that Jenee has less sense than a meth addict.
I know it’s hard to get specific and remember every subway trip you’ve made in NYC but I just wonder in a broad sense how many miles of the subway you estimate you’ve have ridden. Just to get an idea of your experience with the system. 1) 0 2) 1-99 3) 100-999 4) 1000-9999 5) 10000+
I interpret them fucking off when tell them to fuck off. No need to get pissy just because they have better teeth and hygiene than you and still couldn't get past.
Ah, multiple choice. 1) Are you directly involved in every subject you comment on, or 2) Should you go fuck yourself with a cactus?
P.S. I don't visit states that prioritize coddling criminal shitbags while disarming everyone else. I'd just end up in prison for the heinous act of protecting what's mine.
