Strange poll. Why do TMP & TUC have their own options when the other TOS films are all lumped together?
The events of II-V were all within a few months of each other, so I figured I'd lump 'em together. Personally I prefer the Kirk of season 1. It was before he became so famous and legendary.
Kirk in TMP was just gay in that white jumpsuit. Season 1 Kirk is my choice. He took out how many super-powered beings in that season? Mitchell, Charlie Evans, Trelane...
I'll cast my vote with season one Capt. Kirk as well. He was a great character right out of the gate. He didn't need three seasons to become a fully rounded character.
I wish we got to see more of Admiral Kirk, not that I minded his earlier incarnations, I enjoyed watching a master tactician at the helm. I wish he had gone with a fleet command instead of a desk job; that would've made a fantastic series of films.
Of the original Trek, which how are the seasons ranked in order of quality. I've been told before but I don't remember and I've never seen the show in order.
I think TUC is the most interesting. He's introspective about his life, struggling to find a place in a rapidly changing galaxy, yet the same kick-ass Kirk he always was.
I can't see why the series is broken into seasons, i don't think he acted noticeably different. That said, I prefer TV series Kirk to movie Kirk. He seemed much more, I dunno, heroic, in the series.
I've honestly have never separated Kirk in the manner that is listed in the poll. I personally like all the Kirks. Each are a little bit different but I would hope that each of us expect that. Kirk grew as a person through out the series and on through the movies. I would be disappointed if he hadn't and in fact I think the fans over all would be disappointed if Kirk stayed the same through 30 years of Star Trek.
I agree with Kirk1adm, all versions listed in the poll are just one snapshot over the course of the characters development so I can't put a vote in. I simply like Kirk no matter which series or movie I watch.
