Hearing about the historic firsts is not at issue.

It's the policies that I'm afraid we'll have to endure.

Obama ran to the center to get elected, but his previous resume was far left.

We'll see what he actually believes in now.

If it's centrist I'll likely come around.

I just tend to think it won't be.

If you saw the guidelines for teaching history these days you wouldn't worry too much.

If McCain, Clinton, Paul or whoever were elected, we'd still be hearing about the exact same firsts.

The only first that might draw more emphasis because of Obama's race is his first Black History Month. I'm sure looking forward to the lessons some of our resident teachers might put together around that.

What's wrong with all the coverage Dayton? It is a monumental event in our history, the election of a black President[/b], and it is newsworthy and some people want to hear everything about it.

Pretty safe bet considering all of our recent presidents have been "Person of the Year" at least once and most of them twice.

This is a very good point. Why do right-wingers always complain about "the liberal media" when they don't ever have to watch it or listen to it? It's quite easy to avoid.

My advice? If you are going to "Suck It Up" and "Endure", avoid airport bathrooms. :bergman:

Mass media is easy to avoid?

Ever take a walk down a city street?

Unless you live in the bunker or in a cabin in Montana, you are bombarded with media on a constant basis.

Yes. No one forces me to look at newspaper boxes or newsstands. No one swipes me off the street to put me in a "Clockwork Orange"-style theater and force me to watch CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and MSNBC. No sound trucks are running to broadcast liberal media.

There are, of course, places that have TVs running, such as bars and restaurants and airports. But generally you can either avoid those particular places or block them out by paying attention to your own media.

Not really. I live in Chicago, and I could choose to ignore the MSM if I wanted to, or at least, the part of the MSM that has to do with any potential liberal bias. It might be hard to get a drink in a bar if I were unwilling to put up with the notion that it might choose to air a Cubs, Bears or Bulls game, but it's still pretty straightforward.

But avoiding coverage of political issues? Easy.
