What year specifically was the best for you? Mine, I think of all the years was 1984. I signed up for the Air Force in April and had until November before I actually went in (delayed enlistment). It seemed like that summer lasted forever. I bought my first motorcycle and had lots of friends to party with and went to dance clubs and drank heavily and really didn't worry about a damned thing. I was enjoying my freedom while it lasted. Me and a friend rode my motorcycle 300 miles to the beach in September and had a bast down there in Myrtle beach. It was good times. I can still remember the songs that were popular that year. The bird by the time, carribean queen by billy ocean, and John Waits...I ain't missing you at all.

I got laid for the first time on September 4, 1971 and stoned for the first time in '74.

As for what day, I can't remember. :bong:

    1999.

Best flying year of my life, best party year of my life, in the best squadron I served in in the Navy. I also got back down to my college weight. Those were the salad days.

Hell, I probably spent more time flying upside down than right side up that year.

:eek2: I was 7 years old September of 1971. That was the year we moved out of the Detroit suburbs and onto a farm. And my youngest brother was born September 1971. And, I my first time was August 1980 - for sex that is. First time for pot was some years before that. 78 maybe ...

    Er...I wasn't even born in 1971....

My best years were 1998, 2001 and 2002....the years that my children were born. Oh and then 2007, when I met my SO.

The second half of 1993 I was in Augusta, GA. Well, Fort Gordon, actually, but we did manage to spend quite a bit of time in Augusta.

Say, is The Post Office still there?

First off, 1991, the year my daughter was born.

    Going back some...

    1978
    1979
    1980
    1981
    1982
    1983
    1984
    1985
    1986
    1987

1980-1983 being THE very best years. Sadly I can only tell you mugs a little bit about it. I will say that it revolves around SEX, DRUGS and ROCK & ROLL!!!!! :walz: :ecc:

I guess The Post Office is a club or bar? Nothing by that name here anymore...but you know places change hands/names every few years.

Yea, it was a club. It was always funny to see the looks on the newbie's faces when we asked them "Hey, you wanna go to the Post Office?"

Well pallie, my best years wouldn't have had two seconds for any posting on wordForge.

And yes, I know there was no internet then. Just that my good years did not include sitting somewhere doing much of nothing. ya know, like posting.

Best years for some mean really living it up. Like having a ball at college. Or doing a lot of traveling. or having your first kid. or your first car and all you did that first year.

Ya get it. maybe it doesn't fit for you. oh well.

    Um...

I don't have a best year in terms of a "good" year. The least sucky and damaging year was probably 2006. Maybe.

    My life sucks. :(

Yeah, I hear you. I managed all that between 1971 and 1977. The sex, drugs and rock & roll were probably the only reason I survived that fucking decade.

1986, in retrospect, was pretty good...life was uncomplicated, I was a junior/senior in high school, had lots of good times with my friends, everyone was still around.

1993...I was 23 and I bought my second new car: Corvette. I went on a Caribbean Cruise. I got into the best shape of my life. It seemed for a moment that a girl I wanted real bad was going to be mine...

1998 was pretty damn good (the first half, leastways)...I was dating a girl I probably should have married.

1999 was good, too...had trips to Europe, Las Vegas, and the U.K., sorta "came into my own" at work. Spent New Years Eve on Princes Street in Scotland, watching the fireworks at Edinburgh Castle.

2000...Oktoberfest in Munich! Left a secure (but stagnant) job for a great (but risky) new job and found a professional mentor (and a great friend)...one of my best decisions ever.

2001...Oktoberfest in Munich...AGAIN! Visited Moscow, Prague, Vienna, Paris.

2006 wasn't too bad...got my first big-screen HDTV (which was a big deal for a movie guy like me)...walked on the Great Wall of China.

2007...I took a job in a small company working with some guys I've known a long time...challenging work, but I learned a lot. Started classes at the University. Saw the Taj Mahal!

2008 was pretty good...as unemployment was starting to rise, I found a terrific job that was perfect for me...and they sent me to Australia straight away! Managed to do well in a very tough semester at school. Made a significant new friend.

Will 2009 be a particularly good year? Too soon to tell. No extreme high points yet, but I'm hoping...

1985 was a good year. Got out of the Navy, got a job, had a bunch of fun.

1993 was good. Got a new job after eight months of being out of work and it turned into a kick-ass job after about 18 months.

2000 was good. I was hopelessly in love with someone who had said she loved me back and had not yet revealed that she was destined to tear my heart out with a rusty spoon.

But nothing tops 2005. That's when "D" and I got married.
