Yes, the name of the website is "Treehugger.com" and it does have google ads, but ... Things that make you go "Hmmm".
I think it would be better if you had posted the original Independent article (not that I'm a big fan of that paper) rather than one from 'treehugger.com'
Just like all your other contributions on this subject, this is complete bollocks. The e-mails were forwarded to a BBC journalist on the 12th of October. Russian servers are popular for the uploading of such information because the Russian authorities aren't particularly helpful when trying to track down the uploaders. Things that make me go hmmmm: the irrelevant media conjuring up a story based on conjecture and innuendo. Put that in a quadratic equation you moronic fat cunt.
Where the material was posted is completely immaterial - this is the information age. They have no idea who the hackers are, and aren't likely to find them. There's very good chance that this was a leak, not a hack. Fairly detailed analysis here: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/12/...alysis-shows-climategate-likely-to-be-a-leak/ Summary here: Possible it was a hack, but far more likely it was a leak. Especially as already documented by network world one of the scientists in question emailed others his user name and password in his sig.
Russians hate America because they are bitter about losing the Cold War. It makes perfect sense that they would try to cause discord by making us think the world wasn't undergoing an apocalypse. It's clear the Russians have some sort of mine shaft that will allow them to survive climate change. We need to stop climate change or to better understand their technology if democracy is the survive.
I'm really doubting the KGB angle, whatever the source. It just doesn't make sense that they would go to the trouble. Not like Russia really has a lot of trouble telling the rest of the world to go fuck itself. They invaded Georgia for crying out loud. If you were going to go to the trouble, I think it would be easier to make up emails than to steal.
Just because Tomcity is a Russian ISP, doesn't mean the hackers were from Russia. Gosh, I remember TKers posting leaked Briefing Room documents on a French server...I guess that means TK is French!! And all of us were Austrian when WF was hosted in Austria! WF is a Nazi plot! It all makes sense now!!
Only the the fact you continue to post idiotic drivel like this without doing any research on it first to see if it's been debunked yet... Protip: Unless they're a complete newbie, hackers tend to use proxies in order to hide their true IP. As it so happens, there are companies in Russia that make their money off of that fact, and will provide proxy servers for anyone willing to put up the cash.
Yeah, it's funny that so many greenies are also the ones the least tech savvy. The fact that anyone thought that the location of the ftp server was a major clue to the identity of the folks that posted the material is just kind of sad, really.
