IN a time when we are busy having a go at the Iranians, Palestinians, Afghans and Iraqis why is it nobody ever mentions the Pakistanis? I tell you why, its because Pakistan is an ally and we aren't allowed to mention anything. But think about it. Pakistanis are responsible for the following:- 1) The most ill educated and secular immigration to the UK 2) The 7/7 bombings 3) Countless murders and honour killings 4) Harbouring Osama Bin Laden 5) Countless kidnappings 6) Hosting Al-Qaeda camps within Pakistan's borders 7) Developing and stockpiling nuclear missiles in arms reach of islamic fundementalists 8) Promoting extremism in European mosque 9) By far the highest number of prosecuted and convicted terrorist in the UK Why does all this get ignored because they are our ally? Hell, just today we have this from Pakistans forward moving democratic society.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8696188.stm Discuss.
Just from my own personal experience, Pakistani Muslims have been far more conservative and religious than most Iranians, Iraqis, Lebanese, or Syrian folks that I have met.
From my own personal experience, Pakistani Muslims are giant flaming assholes. Okay, it's just one guy, but he's a really big asshole. Oh, wait.... two. Both assholes.
Pakistan's democracy is a failure. they're president is retarded and everyone prefers good the old General. Pakistan has a history of bribery among elected officials, Military governments have HELPED strengthen that nation. their primary growth was during the reign of one of their generals, Khan i think.(Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!)
From my experience, they seem to think of people as either their superiors/equals, or as below them. And man, they treat you like shit if they get the idea you're even slightly below them.
I love America (you think?) but I will agree that Rick is right up to a point. Sometimes who we consider allies makes zero sense to me. If we want to "walk it like we talk it" we need to sever all ties with anyone who doesn't measure up to our ideals, period. We have to pay more for soccer balls, oil, cars, etc? Too fucking bad!
Can't say I'm qualified to determine the worst members of any belief system. As for "having a go" at the nations you mentioned: Afghanistan Iran Iraq Pakistan Every nation is perceived differently, and no allied nation is exempt from public criticism.
Not to "split hairs" here, but wouldn't these things in effect make them the best Muslims? It seems to me they have being a Muslim totally nailed! I kid, I kid.....
Most of the Pakistanis round here are terrible Muslims, mainly because they enjoy the odd drink and trip to the brothels... I confess to a certain level of prejudice towards them, but it's one that has formed through years of experience than actual low-brow hate, there's only so much shit you can stomach before trying to keep a balanced view becomes too much of an effort
The usual drivel from one of our most inane posters. Pakistan is a country fighting for it's soul right now and there's a significant difference between the western tribes who embrace Shari'a and the majority of the nation that is seeking closer ties to the West. Its this culture war that brings out the jihadism in their fundamentalists at such a high rate. We tend to gloss over the fact that they lost more troops fighting against the tribes in the West than the US and its allies have in Iraq or Afghanistan. They've also had to face the reality of one of their most beloved political figures assassinated by their radicals over this very fact. People also forget that Bhutto was the first female head of state in a Muslim country - something the US hasn't managed as of yet itself. It's this culture war that causes so many Pakis to flee the country and come to the West. I've known a spectrum of them here, some good, some bad. There are certainly many individually bad Pakis, but to paint a brush on an entire nationality? A New York Times article also recently revealed that the Pakistani government has created a security protocol with the US in case fundamentalists attempted to seize their nuclear arms which includes US special ops teams deployed to the region being used to secure the nukes. I can't imagine many other countries that would allow foreign troops access to the nuclear capabilities in such a fashion. Of course, they also are the country that created the Taliban as a hedge against Indian influence in Afghanistan and had one of their citizens sell nuclear secrets on the black market. There's good and bad there. I think we should all hope that the moderates win and grant them our best wishes and active support. It's certainly true that the worst of Pakistan is as bad as anything the Muslim world has to offer, but its also true that a moderate middle class is rising in this nation and in the sixth most populous nation in the world that's a good hope for the future.
I'd say the Pakistani's in London and the South East are generally okay, but they have a terrible reputation up north, forged mainly by their young males. In terms of education and jobs, they are far ahead of say, Bengali's and Somali's in my experience. At least in London. So they're not quite the 'worst Muslims'.
Iranians are the worst. I hear their women will date British men and then dump them just after they get engaged.
Quite an elitist policy, no? :unconvinced: Having "ties" (trade agreements, etc.) with a country in no way implies unconditional approval of everything that goes on there. The US is allied with Pakistan not so much because their help is needed in Afghanistan, but because the entire operation is fucked if Pakistan goes full blown Islamist.
demiurge bhutto only RECENTLY got popular. before that she was a known corrupt official, who used her power to make money for herself and her family. same with her father and her successor in the PM position.
Really now? Bring it! Then we can surround the whole fucking region totally unhindered by "upsetting" them. We would at least know where we stand with Pakistan instead of wondering about it and half-stepping. Put an epic lassoo around both countries and clean house until every Taliban is dust. Any questions?
Pretty much how The North defeated The South....superior resources, manpower, logistics, and technology. It's not rocket science. Trust me, we have as yet untapped abilities if we really wanted it...we just don't want it bad enough.
Telegraph south never saw t h eimportance of that invenion yet lincoln's love of technology he saw the importance of that one. Gotta respect a president who tries out a lot of inventions.
Yet, we continue to tell ourselves that these people are just misunderstood friends... Only once the Crusades resume will anything truly get done on this matter and Christian sovereignty is instituted throughout the world.
I have no love for the Saudis either. 95% of the 9/11 conspirators were Saudi. Osama bin Ladin is a Saudi. 28% of the insurgents in Iraq were Saudis.
I hear that! But then again I have heard folks say that these bad apples are part of a different sect (Whabbi) and that the ones we deal with are okay. I remain skeptical at best. IMO the "good guys" are paying off terrorists not to fuck them up. They finance their activities in exchange for being left alone. You know the bad guys must hate the Saudis for being in bed with The Great Satan.
The "good guys" in Saudi Arabia differ from the Wahhabis mainly in that they are hypocrites and willing to accept the Yankee dollar. They are just as extreme in their domestic policies, and in certain of their foreign policies.
I personally think the worst muslims are the bad ones, and the best muslims are the good ones. Same as any other artificial 'grouping' you might want to place on people. I really dont care where they come from or what sect they belong to
If you read Robert Baer's books, you swiftly come to realize that everything we've been taught about Islam is a bit backwards. We are in bed with the Sunni Muslims, i.e. the Saudis, Pakistanis, and so on, but they are actually the more radical of the bunch. We demonize the shiites because they are 'the enemy', but they actually have more of a structure and heirarchy to their sect, and are far more rational day to day than the Sunnis. Why? Politics, money, and oil. Same as it ever was. Also, Iran hurt themselves badly with the US when they deposed the Shah and took hostages from our embassy. That one act has shaped a LOT of bad blood over the past 30 years, but on these cusps does history turn.
