After 10 months of bullshit, games, sneaky backstabbing, I let them win. I pulled my boss and the Hr rep into an conference room and read the following to them: "its a damn shame to be lied to. to have preferential treatment given to others and to have your very character questioned by those who are unfit to judge. it's a damned shame to be getting along just fine in a job until an error is made and you stand up for yourself and then become entrenched with a cowardly bureaucracy of timid fools who judge and make decisions from afar and fail to even meet your eyes when making a judgement against you. It's a damned shame to constantly have to fight for the proper and respectful treatment of your 'betters' in a toxic environment full of favoritism and backstabbing. to have nothing wrong with your performance until you question the actions of the selected favorites, its a damned shame.Soon I will be gainfully employed again and the blight that was the last 10 months will be erased from memory with the passage of time. I feel like a convict finally released back into the free world. It's liberating." - So i packed up my stuff and left. I won't get any severance\unemployment bene's but I have an interview Thursday morning already. got a bit of money saved up, unfortunately we won't be able to go on vacation with the inlaws but something in me snapped yesterday. Here I was constantly being questioned constantly providing documentation that i was in fact doing my job correctly, but I made an enemy of the wrong person and I was written up and given a list of things I had to "change" in order to keep my job. Fuck 'em. God damn it feels good today. THe fact that I have a job interview already for tomorrow making more money than I was, it's damned relieving.
Given the personality you display here, I've got to say there's no way this wasn't entirely your fault. The chances that anyone actually finds working with you to be less than completely objectionable are approximately 0%. Others justifiably get preferential treatment when you're a grade-A idiot and asshole.
see my previous post about tipping over a desk and lighting it on fire. i would have much preferred to go out in such a blaze. @Liet, you're a tool. YOu don't know what kind of person i am, you know the fun I have on a bbs, sheddig of my "mature skin" so to speak. Of course it was partially my fault. I stood up to a group of people who had worked together for 10 years and here comes this new guy along and isn't a good fit with their clique. He resents them, and they he. oil and water. and it finally fell apart yesterday. But I'm not the person in management who was incapable of being impartial to both his friends and non-friend co-workers.
You stood there and read that from a piece of paper to your bosses on the way out? That is pathetic, dude.
I always find it amusing how the one "who doesn't fit in" lays the blame entirely at everyone else's feet when he's forced out.....and lets face it, you never quit triumphantly, you snapped as a result of their attempts to sideline you.
I would say quitting my job to avoid spending vacation with my in-laws is a pretty tempting idea indeed!
Assuming you had been getting bad treatment, way to create a black hole on your resume. I hope that speech was worth the thousands and thousands of dollars (don't know what you do, don't know what you make) it will cost you for the rest of your life.
You got trolled into quitting your job? Your wife must be soooo pleased. On a related note, when future interviewers ask why you left your last job, I hope you tell them exactly what you told us. I think it'll go over really well.
^^^ ( to apostle) Bullshit. If his former company says anything other than basic info to a prospective company that is calling for info they'll get their asses sued for a boatload. Anyone in HR will tell you they never badmouth a former employee to anyone, let alone a prospective employer of said person.
Yep, it was pretty much your fault. It was up to you to get along with the long standing staff. You complained about certain people?? Bad move. What idiot doesn't know that the employees that have been there for years will have some juice with the company?
"Is this employee eligible for rehire?" "No." Kthxbye! Further, the lack of a glowing reference is a red flag, in my eyes.
There's a huge difference between slandering an unpopular former employee and honestly evaluating their performance if asked. It really depends on who he lists as his supervisor, what they're willing to say, and how small his industry is where he lives. And what apostle said.
While I agree with the last sentence his little speech does not indicate that he was incompetant at his job. Quite possibly he simply wasn't liked. Therefore to say he is no elgible for rehire would not necessarily be the truth.
It would be hard not to laugh at someone that had to write that speech down to remember it. IMO you fucked up in 4 ways. First, you lasted 10 months and quit. You've got to make it at least a year for it to be of any value on a resume. Second, you burned a bridge by telling them what you thought. And third you should have given 2 weeks notice. Just suck it up and give the notice, keep your mouth shut, and in the future you'll have a reference to put on your resume. The fourth thing you did wrong, and this is the biggest thing, you didn't already have another job lined up before you quit and lit that bridge on fire. Live and learn, hope your job search goes well. You should probably step back and evaluate your own personality and see if some of those conflicts at this last job might have been spurred by you rubbing some people the wrong way, not the other way around. Politics are a big part of the professional world, the more you learn to play the game the better off you'll be.
You know what? There are plenty of stupid people where I work . I do accounting, and I make less than some of the idiots doing data entry and reception since they've been there for 10 years or more. Instead of pitching a fit, I do my job and I do it well. I behave professionally, and I'm even nice to the people that I don't like very much. So yeah, things aren't perfect at the moment, but they're giving me a raise after just 6 months, and there's a good chance that I'll get a promotion before too long. If I just stick it out and don't act like an asshole, I'll be ahead of everyone else in a few years. There's going to be bullshit at any job you take. It's a fact of life. Learning to deal with it is just part of being an adult.
22+ years military - you want to talk about politics and bullshit? Your head would explode. But if you like what you do, you learn to deal with it and stay focused. But I agree - it's best to not play petty games, or you are no better than them. I would advise against giving speeches like this. I have seen people do this, and it never turns out well.
A speech? What a fuckmonkey. Go to the toilets, have a nice angry wank making you sure your jizz isn't too obvious on your hand, then go shake some hands. Shake, smile and say thanks. Then you'll get a good reference and the knowledge most of them will taste what made their fingers sticky. That's revenge.
In the wordforge dictionary, "sympathy" is right between "shit" and "syphilis". Never quit a job until you have another, then you can make them feel the sour grapes. Plus then you can plan your long range fucking of them well in advance. You can be the only one who know how to do X and Y and the right way to do Z and how QPZ is configured.
And look how far that attitude has gotten you in life! Seriously, there is a pattern here. Forgers who are doing well for themselves say one thing, and WT-Forge says another. Don't burn bridges and don't live in the past. Hanging onto a grudge won't do anything for you.
Its got zero to do with a grudge at all. You simply put yourself in a place that if they fuck you, you have already fucked them back when you leave. If they treat you right then everything is fine.
Yup. Anyone who's been a manager for any length of time knows how to get their point across without saying anything that could get them sued. And anyone who's been in charge of hiring for any length of time knows how to read another manager's responses or lack thereof.
To be fair, I have a sure fire way to fuck over past employers; they will have a serious gap on their team when I leave. You do a damn good job and that is how you hurt them the most. When their operation goes to shit when you leave. I'm sure on Monday they'll get a better employee. I'm sure that for the company, it was the best decision they ever made. Good luck on the job hunt. For your family's sake, I hope you find one. They shouldn't have to suffer.
