Mick Jagger saw both teams he was rooting for (US and England) go down this weekend. The Germans outplayed the English today.

Germany showing why they really belong in the top four of this WC.

Awful from England, no movement, no width, comical defending.
Any of the worlds top 200 teams would have beaten us today

Forget the shocking decision, England were not good enough. Any arguaments about that decision is merely papering over the cracks. Germany could have been 5 up at that point alone, never mind what they did to England in the second half.

Looking at it objectivley, over the course of 4 games, England really did get what they deserved. They could only win one game and that was against Slovenia and even then they were holding out for it. They couldnt win what was essentially one of the easiest groups, not that it would have mattered, if they played like that against Ghana they would have been beaten anyway.

Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard et all didnt turn up all tournament. Gareth Barry - good player that he is was looked at as some kind of saviour returning from injury. Taking a crock like King was a diabolical decision. Havomg JT speak out against the manager and team and really get away scot free was mental. Capello not even attempting to play rooney with Gerrard behind him.

Bringing on Heskey when you need a goal and have Crouch sitting on the bench is just sensless.

I said right from the start that england are over rated and not as good as the media would have you believe. I also said the following last week.........

I got to see the first two goals when picking up someone from a cardiac care unit - exactly why they'd be showing an England game in a ward filled with people with dicky hearts is something only the NHS can answer :marathon:

The rest I gave a miss, although I've seen the highlights and they only qualified as highlights if you have a large David Hasselhoff record collection.

    We were fucking awful. Again.

The comedy bit was the endless mocking of Germany in the run up, the resurrection of WW2 and 1966 (again) which really goes to show what a bunch of mealy-mouthed, piss-ante bitches-to-our-own-history we've become.

Other nations go out and make new history, we dust 4 decades old moments of glory and grievences from 60 years back. It's an indication of how much we have some form of gestalt terror for the future of England that we're forced to use the past as a comfort blanket :marathon:

You know, considering how hard goals are to come by in this sport, it is distressing how often the officials have gotten it wrong in this tournament. There have been 3 blown calls today alone.

^And still they resist bringing in technology.

A group of the more powerful nations need to secede from FIFA - as an institution it's rotten to the core anyway - and implement their own competitions. It'd be worth it to see the look on Blatters face.

Guess I made the fatal mistake of underestimating the Germans. :?:

They were miles better than England and deserved the win. But the dreadful decision to rule out Lampard's goal was a big turning point. At that stage of the game England were on top and getting it to 2-2 might have made for a very different 2nd half.
We came out after HT chasing the game, thus leaving huge empty spaces which the Germans superbly exploited. But overall the performance was poor, just like all our games have been. We look slow and flat-footed compared to the pacey and energetic Germans. And our defending was absolutely horrendous.

Scapegoat for this debacle? I'm going for John fucking Terry. He destroys harmony in the squad by screwing other player's wives, has a fucking appalling tournament where his defensive partners, King, Carra and Upson are covering his arse throughout, and then tries to destabilise the whole squad with his outburst at the manager. He's just a scumbag, and England would have been a lot better off had he not been in the squad at all. A useless, overrated cunt, like a lot of other players in the England team.

Capello also has a lot to answer for. The buck ultimately ends with him, and despite a good qualifying campaign, we have been absolutely rubbish at the finals.

I've felt like this for a long time. FIFA needs to be replaced, they do absolutely nothing for the good of the game, they're only interested in filling their own pockets.
It's a real shame the top European clubs didn't break away from UEFA as they originally threatened, that would have been the first step towards breaking the FIFA shackles. But instead we're going to be stuck with useless idiots like Blatter running the game.

^I can't go with the if decision X was allowed then game could've totally changed...

    1) We'd already had two important goals. By the Germans.
    2) If we've a team who take a sense of injustice into the dressing room at half time, only to turn it into nothing in the second half then they're not upset enough. If life hands you lemons, twisting them in your eyes is pretty fucking dumb.

The goal should have stood, but no way can it be used as an excuse or reason for the defeat - based on individuals we ought to have won, but as a team we're terrible and that has been happening from day 1.

Capello looks lost about it, never a good sign.

It must be man management, people who play brilliant week in week out look completely lost. Maybe he just doesn't know how to relate to and motivate English players.

When they're with him for short periods, his methods work wonderfully - look at the qualifying campaign that marked us out a very dangerous proposition.

Long term? Terry's coup-that-never-was highlighted the issue - boredom.

England is his first international appointment, and he's made the mistake of not tailoring his management skills to the requirements.

They don't play brilliant week in week out. What you see is the brilliant marketing strategy and premier league created by SKY. The EPL is not the best league in the world, the full stadiums and microphones in the stand help it to look good along with the fancy editing.

Where do the best players in the world all ply their trade? Its not England!

I dont think you can punt the guy yet. He's got an exceptional managerial record and this is his first international experience. Let the guy learn from it, don't fire him bring in Harry the bung Redknapp only for him to show he has no experience of international management also.

Capello's got a football brain, as much as it pains me I certainly wouldnt bet against him to learn from this and turn England into a reasonable force at the Euro's.

Up until last season, English clubs had dominated the Champions League for at least 5 seasons. I don't think it's a stretch to claim the PL was the best league in the world.

I think Capello should go. He's getting paid £6M a year. £6M for what practically is a part-time job! And for that ridiculous salary his team played appalling football at this year's world cup, even against mediocre countries.
Time to bring in a new manager who will look to develop younger players. The so-called "golden generation" of players have had their time and need to be replaced with younger, hungrier players. Although whether there are good enough young English players coming through is another thing...

I had a good think about it in the last few days and the best candidate I can come up with is davey moyes. I would like to think he wouldnt want the job, but he's proved he can make teams work, and I would bet 100% he wouldnt stand for any pre-madona nonsence.

"Pre-madona"? Are you referring to the dark period of pop music before the Material Girl came to the fore? :P

Aye, the 20 years before she turned up but after England won the world cup with a dodgy goal that wasnt over the line and another that shouldn't have stood as there was spectators on the field of play. ;)

You know, I've always been a fan of Becks. Putting that to one side, given the aparant nonchelance of most of the England team, I would have though beckham would have been a valuable commodity. Like him or loathe him his commitment to the England cause could never be questioned. I would have thought that he would be every bit an English lion as Stewart Pearce and probably more relevant to any player under 25.
