    Well...what are we talking here?

Hilarious puffed up Black Muslim leader behind a podium telling Jew jokes Muslim?

    Ticking vest Muslim?

"I'll eat your face for looking at my lunch tray", prison Muslim?

    Loveable Taxi Muslim?

    Surly Taxi Muslim?

    Narrow it down.

Saying things twice at increasing volume was the procedure for stopping (hopefully) someone in the Air Force on guard duty.

You say "stop or I'll shoot" at the level corresponding to how far away they are (to match the situation or environmental conditions). Wait a couple of seconds and repeat, but a much higher volume. If you don't get immediate compliance the second time, you pull the trigger till your AR-14 goes "click."

No warning shots or bullshit like that.

So you think this man should have handled things the way a guard looking to neutralize a threat and escalate the situation should?

Not really. I'm just saying steadily and firmly raise your volume level if necessary to stop any escalation of a potentially violent situation.

Does he have a legal permit and is he not in the act of committing a felony or act of terror? Then he has a right to carry.

    2nd Amendment says so.

Why not just cut through the bullshit and say you don't care because you don't exercise that particular right?

Bullshit. Just because you are wronged by a government employee doesn't mean you are entitled to a huge cash prize on the taxpayer dime.

    Punish the officer.

I think he's referring to the headline in the link I posted.

It seems to be more of a blog/opinion kind of thing than a news organization:

    Citizen: "Officer I.."
Cop: "Shut up! I'm not talking to you!"

    Citizen: Louder "Officer I..."
Cop: Louder still " I told you to shut up! You want to go to jail?! I'm not playing games here!"

Oldfella your way only works if the cop is willing to listen.

Officer Harless could learn a few lessons from this policeman.

The guy with the camera seems like he had an agenda of some sort, but the officer handled the situation in a professional manner.

Holy shit that guy was nuts! He needs to lose his job pronto. I feel sorry for the civilian, who was trying to uphold his end of the responsibility.

The only thing that will happen is you will reach a point where the officer will attack you.

A guard, a police officer are people who should raise their voices when need be.

If you as a civilian are raising your voice with the officer the officer is not going to hear you and is just going to drop your ass to the ground.

    Both cops should be fired.

The incompetence is staggering. How do you not approach the driver for five minutes? They weren't even paying him any attention. Then the other officer searches the back of the car with the driver still in the vehicle?

If he wanted to he could have shot the officer in the rear seat and gone after the first officer.

And the one cop could be fired for threatening the lady in addition to his actions towards the driver.

Good point. Another thing - if the cop thought the guy was a legitimate threat, instead of yelling + acting a fool he should have just made the suspect get on the ground with his hands behind his back, keeping his gun pointed at him while his partner searched him. There's a zero chance he's booby-trapped, so this would be the safe, efficient professional thing to do. Treat him like a captured enemy soldier in effect. Do your job! Keep your emotions on the back-burner - distractions like that can get you killed.

This cop needs a "hitch in the service" as the old timers used to say to young punks.

I'm still baffled that they let the guy sit in the drivers seat for five minutes without so much as saying a word to him.

The guy showed bad judgment, and they probably will take his license away. However, one of the telling things was the belligerent cop saying 'why do you keep having that?' when discussing the license in the driver's hand.

The cop needs to be taken off duty pending psychological evaluation at best, and IMO should not be a police officer.

They won't take his license away. Probably. :)

The thing is the officer never gave him the chance to tell about the gun. They didn't even speak to him for the first five minutes.

This is going to be a test case.

    Yeah.

The second cop needs some serious retraining as well.

I hope not, but in the strict letter of the law they could. The problem was when he did start speaking he didn't immediately tell the officer about it. He's answering the officer's question, and starts to say "I've never done this before" which I interpret is having to tell the officer he's armed. But then he goes on to talk about other things. The officer has to ask him what the piece of paper in his hand is.

Completely understandable considering he was answering direct questions from the officer, and was clearly flustered about being constantly told he might be going to jail, but he didn't follow the requirements of the law.

Hopefully the judge won't be a prick, but if he wanted to he could be. Personally I think the reasonable thing would be to suspend the license but find him not guilty of the crime.

I don't think suspending his license is reasonable. He had it in his hand from the get go! The officer told him to shut up and then the guy listened to the cop tell other people how he (the cop) would harm them physically if they did not comply with is ambiguous, illegal orders.

The cop was essentially proclaiming himself judge and jury - dont follow his orders, and you will be harmed!

Further, from what I have read on other boards, this district has video equipment that allows officers to turn it off. I would not be surprised if the cop thought he had done so (though I will admit I have no proof of that).
