I'd be more excited but my Redskins are still gonna suck hard this year.

 

Free agency is going to be awesome.

One source I heard is that pretty much every deal that's going to be made has already been made, and they're waiting until the FA period actually opens to make the deals official.

The Bears have no money to spend, which is a good thing, given their track record with big name FA's

 

What now? Taking the QB out to a dinner and a movie before sensually laying them on the ground instead of tackling?

 

And so it has begun. The formal transfer of power from the NFL to UFC.

 

Rumor is that Nnamdi Asomugha wants to sign with the Jets. The salary cap makes that kind of unlikely, but if it happens then opposing wide receivers will just break down in a puddle of their own tears. Revis/Asomugha would enable defensive schemes never before imagined . . .

Errr... what this just did was further bury the UFL.

Anyway, I wonder if Kevin Kolb will really be coming to the Cardinals or not.

That's what I've read as well. Holmes has or should have priority over Edwards--he's a better receiver and his history makes enough teams wary of him that he's likely to be a good value for whatever money it takes to sign him.

Still, a guy can dream about Revis/Asomugha. The Jets would essentially never need a dime package, rarely need a nickel package, and would be able to keep eight or even nine in the box almost all the time. I know it's just a dream even if Asomugha shares the dream. Realistically I just hope the Jets don't overpay to bring back Cromartie.

 

Yeah, Cromartie has been riding one big year for his entire career. I think the advanced metrics had him rated as the worst CB in football in 2010. Which means someone will throw a dump truck full of cash at him.

This week is going to indeed be epic, between free agency, rookie free agents and cuts.

 

So far it looks like Tavaris Jackson to Seattle, Hasselback to the Titans and Kolb to the Cards. Poor Seahawks, getting a QB that not even the Vikes want.

The Cowboys have cut Barber and Roy Williams, shocker!

Also, Chris Johnson is gearing up for a lengthy holdout in hopes of a raise (he makes $800k I think). The same appears possible for Desean Jackson.

And according to sources, the Skins would trade Haynesworth for a ham sandwich at this point, just to make ensure they don't cut him and he moves on to the Eagles.

 

I'm pretty sure he is talking about Ultimate Fighting Championship and not the United Football League.

Fuck I didn't even know there was a UFL

 

If the Skins made that trade, they'd be getting ripped off. Haynesworth is finished.

Kinda surprised about the Cowboys cutting Barber. Felix Jones hasn't been all that impressive, and Barber is fairly young. Then again, running backs are dime a dozen these days.

Kolb is a nice fit with the Cards.

 

The Eagles have announced they're not bringing back ANY of their unrestricted free agents. So they're making a move for Asomugha.

Overpaid by far for 16 games a year. They might as well go to flag football and be done with it. Can they actually hit or tackle anybody any more?

 

Cutting Barber doesn't surprise me (he's a great closer but never should've been the featured back), but they're going to take a big salary cap hit by cutting Williams. I figured they'd keep him just to avoid that.

 

I also think he is wrong. UFC is popular but it will never approach Football popular.

 

Can anyone explain why we'd get rid of Hasselback FOR TAVARIS JACKSON?!?!?

 

The Skins send McNabb to Minnesota for a pair of 6th round picks? Didn't we at least get a bag of chips to go with that as well or something?

 

Hasselbeck was an unrestricted free agent, right? If he decided he wanted to play elsewhere, there's not much Seattle could have done about it. Hasselbeck's also a 35 year old quarterback who's been injured each of the past three seasons.

So I get why not Hasselbeck, but why Tavaris Jackson is another question altogether.

 

A sixth and a conditional sixth. For all we know that conditional sixth may never happen. Still, if you discount draft picks a round a year as is typical, at least they got more for McNabb than for Haynesworth.

 

Sidney Rice to Seattle! Haynesworth to the Pats! Reggie Bush to Miami! Steve Breaston to KC!

 

Looked like the Bears might get Brad Smith, but he went to the Bills. Meanwhile, the Bears are shopping Greg Olsen and just signed Matt Spaeth. Spaeth is a bad blocker with bad hands, and Olsen is a bad blocker with great hands. Makes no sense.
