I want Herschell's Glorious Shotgun of Plenty! It never needs reloading!!!

Hey, we saw him reloading once that I can recall.

And maybe that tube magazine was modified to hold more than the legal limit. Is it as simple as removing some kind of plug or installing a different spring?

Removing that plug doesn't buy you that many extra shells.

Eh, he handled that scattergun competently enough that I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He reloaded a couple of times off camera.

I watched with both my kids (we've found a 'family' show! ) and we ALL commented on the magic shotgun almost simultaneously.

The serious lack of large magazines, or at the very least a couple of lever actions is annoying. I know they don't get to shop at the Black Rifle Emporium, but shit, how are all these morons Raylan Givens with a pistol, from the window of a moving car no less?

Hell give me a couple of Ruger 10/22's and we could make short work of that herd.

Glen was a bad ass with the shotgun while his girl was driving like crazy.

He couldn't miss!

I saw the last two episodes finally. Liked the scene between Rick and Shane but it was a little on the dark side. They could have put a couple more lights out there so we could see better. Was not expecting Rick to pull out a knife and just gut Shane. Thought he was pulling a second gun. And the herd just turning on a dime towards the gunfire.

Liked how they tied the herd to the helicopter in the beginning of the season one. I wonder if they will ever explain the helicopter like they did in the comics?

Rick's talk with Carl was weak. The kid is responsible for Dale's death. I mean sure he didn't do it on purpose and Dale was an idiot for not paying attention but if the kid had spoken up it might not have gotten to Dale.

Glad they finally acknowledge that every single human being in the world is infected and when you die you become a Zombie.

Lori needs to be shot. Seriously. Shoot her. The only good thing she did in the last two episodes was rescue Herschel's daughter after Patricia got served up for dinner and for forcing TJ to take them back to the highway.

Andrea is pretty bad ass. Gotta give her credit she can fight. And notice she was down to her last three Zombies after running around and took out two and was getting ready to kill the third from a bad position of course on the ground when Michonne showed up. Awesome that they showed Michonne with her Zombies in chain. It was a great scene.

And Herschel? I want the unlimited shotgun that runs out at a convenient time but boy did he flinch when Rick blew that Zombies head off right behind him.

And finally Rick put down the law. Shut up and do as I say. He should have slapped Carol. After of course slapping the crap out of his wife for once again not keeping an eye on Carl.

I can't wait for the prison.

They're not gonna shoot the women. They need to repopulate.

We have Army training now (since Iraq) on shooting from a moving vehicle. It is pretty hard, even going slowly.

I have a couple questions:

Is it ever explained what the helicopter in the first episode was about, even in the source material?

If everyone in the world is infected with a virus that will turn them into a zombie when they are killed, then why does being bitten cause all the classic signs of suffering from an infection and cause a person to die?

I think the mouth of a corpse would be incredibly nasty and cause a pretty horrific infection in the event of a bite. Or it could be that it delivers like a super dose of the zombie virus which overloads the immune system's ability to keep it in check.

Are they really actually corpses, though?

The reason the bite kills you is because the human mouth is already nasty. Now take that human mouth and put it on a slowly decaying Zombie that eats raw meat, doesn't brush, floss or hell even drink anything (other then the blood that comes with the meal).

No doubt Zombies are the undead version of Komodo dragon. The bite will kill you from infection.

It is explained what happened to the helicopter and it's crew.

If the show follows the comic book on this point we will see it during the next season.

[?=spoiler about helicopter]In the comic book it was explained that the helicopter crashed and the two occupants were captured by the Governor. I forgot what was done to them but they were both dead. I think the Governor had them fight in his Zombie pit. IIRC it was also a news helicopter and was a homage to Dawn of the Dead[/?]

Sick people don't tend to keep coming when you empty a gun into their torso.

It is becoming obvious that if you're gonna die in the series, they're gonna make you a loathed character.

I therefore predict Lori gets it next.

You know with the season fianlly...I had one big question....After Ricks big "This isnt a dictatorship, its a Ricktatorship!!!" speech and it pans out to a prison....All I could think is "Really?????????? We have a local prison, not too large in size, only a couple miles from the farm, fully protected......., within driving range. in a non-populated area, and NOBODY mentioned it??????" Really I spent a whole season watching Luarie bitch about not feeling "safe" and why she "really matters", and to drive her husband (and shane her lover) to harass Hershel for shelter when there is a fucking prison, a couple miles donw the road????? They talk about boarding up a house???

Let me make this simple. Daryl and I will got to the prison for safety and ummm.... well..... umm...... Yall stay here in your tents and RV.

We don't know it's a couple miles. It could just be the way they framed the picture.

I must have missed the prison shot.

At the end of the show they pan out and up and show the prison in a ghostly glow.

It's pretty obvious from the shot that the prison is across a field and past the river, not far at all.

But keep in mind, we don't know how far they drove away from Herschell's farm. Obviously far enough away for Rick to run outta gas. Of course, with him driving a Suburban, that might just be a couple miles.
