It's always something with this old rustbucket.

    How much are metaphasic shields?
Will they even run on this old tub, or would they meltdown the warp core?

Would stopping registrations completely for a short while help matters?

Yes, assuming a user has a static IP it should be easy to add an exception. Most people nowadays seem to have static IPs unless their modem reboots or something.

Well then, there ya go. Put up a warning about what's about to happen, give people a way to contact the staff if they get locked out (Post in a TBBS thread, message the WF FB Group, send a message by carrier otter), and let's do it.

After a couple of days with relatively few problems, things are suddenly seriously messed up again. Errors, threads that won't load, and so on. When anything does load, it takes a looooooooooooooooooong time.

Yep, me as well. It's now two weeks since this thread was put up.

It was suggested that O2C was looking into it. Any news?

O2C did something about a week ago that solved it temporarily. Now there is discussion of maybe upgrading the board software. Discussion is ongoing, and about as fast as you would expect with the amount we are getting paid for this.

The issue there is, if we upgrade the board software we'll lose a bunch of the hacks we've grown accustomed to. So it's a "tread thoughtfully" kind of deal.

And the front page of the 'Help!' heading on the main page, as well as the threads list for this forum don't show me as being the last poster to the thread/forum. It has stayed that way for 5 minutes since I posted.

Update - And as I posted this, the name change shows correctly on the front page, but when you enter the forum and look at the threads, it's still the previous post.

I'm pretty sure most of the "hacks" are now "standard."

    Which ones would we lose?

Wordforge has been working fine for me. Though if it's a choice between functionality and keeping old hacks/posts/arcade scores I vote for functionality.

On what page? It might be an image that someone posted, or is using as a signature.

Last couple times that's happened it's turned out to be an image someone was using.

Edit to add - or a new smiley. I think we've deleted a smiley or two because of malware concerns.

Seems to be related to this news article published earlier today.

I didn't think Wordforge had advertising. While it's rather strange, it doesn't seem to be something to worry about.
