I've just read through the whole thread, and I feel some pity for John Castle. I hope he gets help asap. I really think that he has mental problems. It's no laughing matter anymore, IMO.

Problem is: Mental ilnesses are often ridiculed. "You suffer from depression? You are an addict? Aaaaaw, poor guy, now stop being a weakling and get your act together! Pussy!"

This is why people who have mental problems often pull a Castle instead of facing their problems. You won't get ridiculed for having cancer. But you will get a lot of shit if you admit that you suffer from severe depression, for example. Or being bi-polar. Despite the fact that depression as an illness can be as deadly as cancer and even far more difficult to "heal". Mental ilnesses are a social stigma.

Meanwhile, half of society is eating Prozac, Cymbalta or Xanax like candy... Or needs booze to survive. But talking about it? Hell no...

Thing is, somebody having cancer doesn't cause them to give all kinds of grief to the rest of the world. And mental illness, properly treated, shouldn't either. His is not treated. We aren't responsible for that, nor can we do much. But one thing pretty clear to me, was that his time posting at Wordforge was getting in the way of what he needs to do to straighten out his life. Hopefully a vacation will help.

It's not abusing my position or harassment when the fact that Admins outed duals for fun is right in the board rules you dolt. Duals are done at the poster's own risk and that has never been a secret or a mystery.

The "sudden" health issues was surgery. It took longer than I thought it would when I left, but I would have left then even if Lanzman still owned the board.

It can take years to figure out how to properly treat someone's mental illness. I've had my own minor issues, but I doubt I'd be a ray of sunshine if I had cancer. Although I did make it through a few months in a wheelchair without destroying all my personal relationships.

Say what you want about her admining, but every time Zel showed up and posted about Tamar getting sick and having to go into the hospital, I can personally verify that it happened as I would call up the Portland hospitals, shoot the shit with the Candy Stripers until they would would confirm or deny she was a patient there (Mainer little old ladies are as susceptible to sweet talk and a southern accent as anyone, more so I'd say, HIPPA be damned) and then send her flowers on WFs behalf.

Seriously. She's posted the pictures of the flowers multiple times thanking the board.

Absolutely agree. Many mental ilnesses can only be controlled by heavy medication which have heavy side effects, schizophrenia for example. Same for severe clinical depression, which is quite different from feeling a little melancholic or "having a sad".

And it is not only the patients who suffer horribly. Relatives and friends suffer, too.
