Amazon Prime is awesome! Free two day shipping on damned near everything, and the selection of movies and TV shows they have available tends to be stuff different than what other services have. Generally, what happens is people get Amazon Prime for the free shipping, and then keep it for the streaming video. (Don't take my word for it, the episode of Cordkillers podcast which was posted on this past Monday makes that claim.) On a recent episode of The Gist podcast, they interviewed famed tv producer Norman Lear (All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, etc.) and he's a huge fan of Transparent (and South Park!). He calls it some of the best tv ever made. If you have kids, Amazon had lots of children's programming, and they've inked a deal with some of the cable networks to make their stuff available via Prime streaming. CBS was also making some of their content available through Amazon Prime the next day after it aired. Under the Dome being the one that I remember, but there are others as well.
i took the 30 day trial to watch Transparent - I can't afford a $99 hit all at once - but to be by far the most attractive thing is that they have the whole HBO library.
I watched the first three episodes of Marco Polo. I probably won't finish the series. It doesn't grab me.
Huh, looks like this has been renamed to "Living in the Age of Airplanes". I suppose that's a cooler title.
My problem with the series is that it's really more about Khan than Polo. I think they should have called it that and just had Polo as a secondary charcter/story line
Anyone think that the show "Backstrom" with Rainn Wilson is going to be any good? It looks to me like it's going to he "House, M.D. The Detective"
It's possible that Kublai Khan will cease to be a central character in future seasons. The real Marco Polo did travel elsewhere than Yuan China.
Looks nice, but I hope they're paying Dan Brown royalties. He's a hack who can't write for the sake of his life, but they just took everything he ever came up with and made it a series.
Also, if you have a .edu email or know someone that does you get the yearly rate half off. I still pay $30 but I have had it for three years and they haven't changed it knock on wood.

Several things turning up soon that might be interesting, though at the moment I'll mention only one Wayward Pines Looks derivative as hell but might still be a fun ride
So, the grid is complete for the Fall Season. Here's my take on new shows that catch my eye: Supergirl - I'm all in. Can't see how I could possibly not love it. Not saying it will be "The Wire" or anything but I anticipate lots of fun. Blindspot - fascinating premise, execution could be impressive or cliched. Not sure if I'll give it a go or add it to the list of shows I'll eventually get around to (such as, for example, The Blacklist) because my plate is too ful Minority Report - not overwhelmed, and I figure it will go the way of Almost Human anyway so I'll probably pass. The Muppets - could be great fun, could be childhood-destroying disaster. I'll surely tune in to find out which. Limitless - I have an irrational grudge here because this ought to be PoI's spot still, but I don't need a grudge to note the similarities in premise to last year's "Intelligence" - they'll need to execute better. Scream Queens - only if my horror movie fan son decides to try it, I like it when we enjoy the same shows. Heroes Reborn - Yeah, I remember. But I'll give it a try anyway because I'm a sucker for this kind of thing. NPH - not typing out the whole name. I'll give it a go. Lucifer - completely insane premise, but trailer was intriguing in it's over-the-topishness Might also try "Of Kings & Prophets" though it's not so much my thing as it once was. Will KEEP watching: Castle Gotham The Flash Agents of SHIELD Arrow Nashville And maybe OUAT
