Rogue One didn't need to be darker and if Kathleen Kennedy had to step in to prevent that, then good on her. She has known Lucas for years and she knows Han Solo is a fan favorite and if Kasdan wants to make sure the story is right, then maybe it's not a bad thing that she's laying down the law. I know I don't want a director getting too crazy, we saw what Zack Snyder did to Superman and I say that as someone who liked Man of Steel and BvS.

Would it be a prequel? A sequel? Or a presequel?

It would almost certainly take place between RotS and ANH. It could hardly be a prequel given MacGregor's age.

This makes all three anthologies interquels to ROTS and ANH.

Now we know what to call them. The interquels.
The prequels, the interquels, the originals, the sequels.

Talk of a Jabba standalone being in development.

I eye-rolled at this idea at first, but I think it could be done well if it were done as the "Breaking Bad", of Star Wars. Have Jabba start good, and skinny, and adventurous, the Han Solo of his day, then have him corrupt and fatten into the Jabba we know from the classic trilogy.

Couldn't be less interested than I am with a Yoda or Boba Fett story...

Jabba wouldn't even have to have most of the screentime. Focus on a few of his lieutenants who are more mobile and have a body shape we're more inclined to accept in dramatic situations. It could be less "about Jabba" and more "about the seamier side of the Star Wars galaxy as seen through Jabba's eyes".

At any rate, Disney has this huge property that has still been barely scratched canonically, there's going to be a lot of initial brainstorming and what-ifs.

I said earlier if you want to make a Boba Fett movie, you don't make it about Boba Fett. You make it about whomever Boba Fett is hunting.

Similarly, if you make a Jabba the Hutt movie, you don't make it about Jabba. You make it about someone who's caught up in the underworld Jabba runs.

If you want to make a Yoda movie...go fuck yourself. No one wants a Yoda movie. :bailey:

What, you don't want to see his early career as a struggling stand-up comedian?

That's where he got the funny talk, you know. Yoda can speak Galactic Standard perfectly well. He just developed his syntax when he adopted a hick persona to get people to laugh, and he never lost the habit.

That was how the first Darth Maul novel was constructed.

Because when you get right down to it, the coolest supporting characters are cool because we don't know too much about them. A little mystery makes them more interesting.

Well, too bad, we now know Boba-Fett is a clone of Temuera Morrison, and watched his clone-daddy die at the hands of Mace Windu.

And the character's much more compelling now that we know that, right? :diacanu:

I personally think the character was much more interesting when we had NO IDEA what he looked like or who his daddy was. :bailey:
