Actually a “Presbyterian” minister in town wrote an article, and has spoken from the pulpit saying that he wished his children were gay so he could show his congregation how to love them. Wicked.
There are plenty of people agitating for it. The politicians who are in favor of it just know that they do not yet have the numbers to do it. Including the numbers on the Supreme Court to make the 2nd irrelevant. While the gun banners may not have the numbers yet to do it nationwide that hasn't stopped them from doing everything they can to make it difficult to illegal to own a gun it in several states. So really you need to stop lying.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=0Zhcoqe204U This Sheriff really needs to be shoved out of office. Those police should have been swarming inside that school regardless of whether the gunman was dead or alive.
Yeah, about that... You can't exactly pretend that "they" aren't when "they" come right out and say as much. I mean, you can, it just makes you look stupid.
As an older, upper class white tech-bro this next statement will probably be a bit jarring. You should probably get yourself into a safe space before reading b/c what I say next could be triggering. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sometimes, if you aren't careful, you end up a left-behind. Think about all those internet 'libertarians' that supported Civil Unions For Everyone, from way back in the day, but never lifted a finger to make that a reality while gays and lesbians were struggling for Civil Rights, but then once the tide had turned and the public was in support of full on gay marriage were all of a sudden adamant that the government shouldn't be involved in marriage. TOO LATE MOTHER FUCKERS. YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE TO ROW AND THUS DICTATE DIRECTION; YOU STOOD ON THE SHORE. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe we aren't moving towards that watershed direction (maybe the polls about public sentiment are wrong). So be it. I'm gonna be rowing and I'm gonna be making sure common sense gun owners have a voice when it comes to where this boat is heading. That said I could be wrong. These mass killings could slow down. The country's urbanization and movement into a creative/innovative economy could reverse. The net loss that rural areas are seeing could reverse. The concentration of guns into fewer and fewer hands could reverse. The polls showing ~70% support for more gun control could be wrong. The 'here is the line on guns, we go no further' camp could have a chance. That could happen. But it won't happen with my support. I'll be on the other side, trying to make sure the pendulum doesn't swing too far.
i want to go on the record that i think we should repeal the 2nd amendment and imprison anyone caught with any sort of weapon for no less than 15 years and also force them to eat obama garden vegetables for the rest of their miserable lives while making them bow in the direction of mecca 12 times per day
Ya know, it's kinda funny you would mention Paul Wellstone. Back in the day, while I was still in Afghanistan, a buddy emailed me about a pro transit group he was going to start up. I said I was in, he sent me a link to his google docs where he had all his brain storms. I spent about a month away from unsecured internet, but had my computer and so put his brainstorms and my ideas into the Seven Step PsyOp Process. Shit, sorry, got sidetracked. Back in the day I was a cofounder of a c3 dedicated to transit education. One of the first things we got told to do was go to Camp Wellstone. https://www.wellstone.org/programs/camp-wellstone It's a weekend long day camp for grass roots organizing. All of our early founders went. Speed up 6 years and we are still all volunteer run, have hundreds of vols*, 17k FB followers, host our own endorsement parties, AND OH YEAH PASSED A FIFTY-FOUR BILLION (yes that was a B) DOLLAR TRANSIT EXPANSION MEASURE, THE LARGEST VOTER-APPROVED TRANSIT-ONLY MEASURE IN U.S. HISTORY. And shit, sorry I'm drunk.... What's the point? OH YEAH! So yeah, Paul Wellstone actually had really good ideas about activating and organizing your base. It's kinda ironic you would bring him up as a counter to these kids activating the (70% of population) pro gun control base. *fun fact my brother is now volunteer coordinator
well Tafkats allow to to address your points: 1) only a tiny percentage of gun owners have "automatic" weapons. No "automatic" weapons used in the past few school shootings unless I missed something. Granted what the media considers "assault" weapons were used - is that what you meant? 2) when you legally purchase a weapon there is now a sales record of it with your name, the weapon type & serial number, etc. so "registration" is moot. By this point you are already vetted & approved to purchase said weapon. 3) I agree with you here! Make weapons training no more intrusive & expensive than getting a driver's license and I'm on board. And like vehicles, there should be categories & levels. Drive an 18 wheeler should entail more skill than driving a Toyota Corolla. If you really want to own military grade weapons you should undergo more training & have more skin in the game. 4) I think gun violence is already tracked by the FBI and possibly other agencies but I would have to research that. Granted further study by differing groups should be encouraged as it should be for any complicated subject.
Ummmm I was talking about how Democrats used a funeral as a political rally and booed republicans off the stage
Yeah, he must have forgot that part where Democrats chased Wellstone's Republican friends out of the funeral and turned the funeral into a huge rally that many believe bit them in the ass later on that year.
Hate to burst your bubble, but even if we take Daytons estimates as accurate (which they probably are not given he is an idiot they could be way higher or lower), then the first article on a very quick google search says the cost of gun violence to the American economy is $229 billion every year, including $8.6 billion in direct expenses such as for emergency and medical care. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-cost-of-gun-violence/?utm_term=.16c0749c3c47 So if we were to take those two poles, which admittedly are very simplistic, then the Benefit Cost Ratio doing it would be overwhelming. Now i know, we shouldn't be doing math in the red room but if you jump all over something that Dayton says then you need to expect to be hit with a bit of opposition. Saying all that, I have not looked further into the article, I can't attest to the methodology or findings. I just did a very quick google search.
The left: no one's coming for your guns Also the left: .The bill prohibits the “sale, transfer, production, and importation” of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can hold a detachable magazine, as well as semi-automatic rifles with a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/h...ale-of-semi-automatic-weapons/article/2650087
How pissed is CumovergunsForge going to be when Jesus turns swords into plowshares? DOES THE BOOK OF REVELATION VIOLATE THE 2ND AMENDMENT?
People who beat their swords into plowshares....end up doing the plowing for those who kept their swords.
That's the most famous public statement, impossible to ignore. There's also an audio recording of a NJ assemblywoman caught on an open mic, after a gun control bill failed to pass, having a small tantrum and saying "why can't we just confiscate, confiscate, confiscate?!" Our new governor has sworn to pass every state gun control bill that Christy didn't (the only thing he was good for). And of course Hillary's statement that she would favor an Australia-style ban.
Oh yeah, Forbin? Well, I finally got the dirt on you! You're married to Melissa McCarthy!! You're Ben Falcone!! You directed "Identity Thief"!!! I'll never get those two hours back, you sonovabitch!!!!
Some assholes on Twitter making death threats against the survivors (well, David Hogg specifically due to the "crisis actor" bullshit and Cameron Kasky for the "make Rubio promise not to take NRA cash" challenge): https://crooksandliars.com/2018/02/lets-catch-sickos-who-sent-parkland
Of course, the real tragedy here is that it took the focus off Trump and how awesome he is: This as part of a speech he was giving to governors about school safety following Parkland. https://crooksandliars.com/2018/02/shorter-trump-real-victim-parkland-tragedy If there's a bigger cunt on this planet, Trump probably has his lawyers offering it hush money.
