And you'd like to be the one to teach me, like your daddy taught you in all those late night visits to your room after mom had gone to sleep?

You might as well be claiming aliens abducted you last night and ran experiments, then demanding I disprove your story.

While I could take the time to dig up the biographical info, the effort would be wasted on someone intent on denying reality.

You're not worth the time, drug addict.

Chris Claremont - had no intention of writing comic book stories, studied political science and acting at college. Immigrated to the US from Israel

    Frank Miller -

In November 2011, Miller posted remarks pertaining to the Occupy Wall Street movement in his blog, calling it "nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness." He said of the movement, "Wake up, pond scum. America is at war against a ruthless enemy. Maybe, between bouts of self-pity and all the other tasty tidbits of narcissism you’ve been served up in your sheltered, comfy little worlds, you’ve heard terms like al-Qaeda and Islamicism." Miller's statement generated controversy.

"Hama sold his first comics work to the fantasy film magazine Castle of Frankenstein when he was 16 years old, and he followed by collaborating with Bhob Stewart on pages for the underground tabloid Gothic Blimp Works.[5] After high school, Hama took a job drawing shoes for catalogs, and then served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, during the Vietnam War, where he became a firearms and explosive ordnance expert.[6] Hama's experiences in Vietnam informed his editing of the 1986-1993 Marvel Comics series The 'Nam. Upon his discharge, Hama became active in the Asian community in New York City."

great, so 1/5 actually did a foot note worth of military service.
the fact that Frank Miller is a right wing loon wasn't in question.. his life experiences were.

You aren't very bright, are you?

What does some comic writers having military experience have to do with SJWs ruining comics by doing the exact same thing they’ve always done?

And that basically validates everything I was saying earlier . The movies reach a much larger fanbase than comics could ever hope to. If anything, they act as a pipeline for potential new comic readers. This generation of children want to see the Iron Man and Thor that they see on screen. Same with all the other characters. It's really that simple.

That's actually a valid criticism. These temporary status quo changes have been happening forever in comics, but DC generally has the sense to end those arcs before a movie drops so new readers can come in fresh. Superman can die, become electric, get replaced by Mon-El, lose his powers, become too powerful, bang Wonder Woman, get sad and walk across America, whatever they want... but as soon as a new movie comes out, he's back to basics and redrawn to better resemble the actor playing him. :async:

That said, this is a company that intentionally kneecapped the X-Men and cancelled the Fantastic Four comic just to stick it to Sony, so we probably shouldn't be shocked they're wasting opportunities here.

The original characters are still there. I for Fantastic Four, Johnny Storm and Thing are still showing up on a regular basis. Reed, Sue and the kids are rebuilding the multiverse. They should be back fairly soon since that’s being teased right now. The X-Men just aren’t publishing as much as they used to, back when it was half of Marvel’s production and Wolverine showed up in every other book. It dropped off at some point and they pulled back. I think there are about 10 titles right now. I’ve only kept up with Blue and Gold. There’s some story stuff about them being nearly extinct, but bad shit has been happening to mutants since the 60s. They’re either getting hunted down, threatened by some virus or being herded into camps all the time. Being persecuted is their whole thing. That’s why I fully support Magneto I’m his goals, I think he’s a good guy now too. So I don’t know, comics are weird.

Can’t really blame Marvel about Fantastic Four though. That movie was a mess. I’d argue it was less about screwing over Fox than it was to protect their intellectual property. Same goes with the X-Men, with a few exceptions they mostly suck. Deadpool is great and Marvel loves him like they loved Wolverine after the 90s cartoon started.

I don't blame Marvel for stopping production on Fantastic 4 comics. Why help generate business for a rival company? Hopefully we'll see them back under the Marvel umbrella and finally get a decent Fantastic 4 movie

I want a Fantastic Four set in the 60s of the MCU and Reed is making all kinds of wacky 1960s era sci-fi standards like bulky robots and jet packs. The Fantastic Four are fighting commies and monsters. Reed does some experiment that blast him and the team into the future. Now they have to adapt to the present and deal with a world where they aren’t the only superheroes. Maybe Reed struggles with it more than the others, giving him an interesting arc. He’s usually boring, but it might be fun to see a 60s man adjust to changing morals and plus his disappointment that none of his inventions ever took off.

Not that far removed from what Bendis did with the original X-Men a few years ago. You might enjoy that, if you haven't read it yet.

Looks like the SJW's are destroying Comic-cons as well.

Emerald City Comic-Con has three industry mixers. Industry mixers being for people trying to get in the industry or are already in the industry of course. Not your average fans.

Whose not invited? Straight white males.

    Industry Women & Genderqueer Mixer

    Industry People of Color Mixer

    Industry LGBTQIA Mixer

Then she is not a good salesman. They were not always in their current form and a comic shop should have things like back issues. Maybe I don't know comics, but if I go into the comic shop right now and buy the current issues I am in the middle of the story, right? There are a whole bunch of stories. Sell them what they want and when they run out of that see if they want to continue with the new stuff.

Maybe part of the problem of the American comic industry is it is too corporate. Look at Japan, they have comics produced by aspiring people and you do not have to be in the industry to sell. You have to be driven to sell. It is not a high paying industry, but it is one a person can make a living at. The problem with corporate American comics seems to be production costs are keeping out many smaller guys because the big houses are the big names. Manga has a number of different production houses leading to bigger things and very few are like marvel or dc.

They also have shorter lived series that have smaller tie ins and more closed arcs. Not every hero has to have a billion issues and incarnations. Not to mention there are different genres for different stories. You have slice of life and dramas. You have fashion artsy titles. You have comics for boys and comics for girls. You have vampire comics and comics about wars.

Why aren't there video game comics out there?

Maybe the comic industry in America needs to start doing something aside from the same old superheroes and altering their gender or color maybe it is time for new heroes. Maybe the kids do not want to have their parents super heroes. Maybe they don't want bat man, super man, spider man.
