So it's looking like two of the NRA's directives are coming into conflict with each other. Protecting individual gun rights at all costs, and protecting gun manufacturer's bottom line. The gun industry was banking on Hillary winning to continue, or even boost, the Obama Bump in gun sales by producing massive amounts of firearms running up to the election. Instead, Trump won and everyone quite panic buying. That's quite a pickle.

Tell 'em to come to NJ. Our new governor is promising to sign 10 new gun control bills today. Sales should boom.

Remington has made some staggeringly stupid business decisions in the last few years though. They wanted to get into the AR market so rather than produce a quality product like they were known for, they purchased Bushmaster. The rifles Bushmaster would sell for $799-$999 now were selling for $1,200 and up because they had Remington’s name on them. They wanted Remington’s price for Bushmaster quality. Not happening, friend.

They've also had a few misfires with new products. Their R51 was a disaster, and I think it's still got problems. Their RP was a me-too polymer 9mm that also had gremlins. I don't hear much about their 1911s.

Quality issues have plagued them for years. My local shop had a brand new 870 Marine Magnum on the rack next to a used one of unknown vintage, and the used one's finish was, to my eyes, noticeably superior. I even detected what looked like the onset of rust --or, at the very least, weird reddish discoloration--on the new one's magazine tube.
