When we have a ruling party that's a breath away from authoritarianism/fascism, centrist views become liberal, liberal views become socialist, socialist views become communist, and communists flee the country.

As long as news outlets continue to foist uninformed teenagers on their audiences to obnoxiously lecture viewers, and as long as these teenagers and their adult enablers have nothing more to offer than knee-jerk hysteria, adolescent bravado and ranting, and fantasy-land calls for the repeal of the 2nd amendment, then they deserve nothing other than sneering dismissal.

Mental health is not the reason for this. It is an excuse. Other countries have people with mental health problem, including many that allow public gun ownership. They're not massacring people on a daily basis. As I always say after this, your problem is cultural. But you Yanks have it drummed into you from birth that America is da greatest, etc. So you can't possibly be lagging behind the rest of the western world culturally, can you? The great land of liberty and "freedom". Stop treating guns as a divine right and an object of fascination and worship and I promise you these massacres would reduce. Sadly this is something that will take generations because right now at least half of Americans cannot even begin to contemplate it's a cultural issue. They just put their heads in the sand.

And if you want mental health treatment to be improved, maybe you need a better healthcare system....

No dummy, think bigger. How many kids out there are fed prescription drugs from early on? How many adults are prescribed Xanax, riddlin, aderall, etc, etc, you think none of those have bad side effects that big pharma tries to suppress? You also think there aren’t kids who’s mental issues don’t get ignored?

The 2nd amendment has been around since the birth of the nation. Firearms existed long before that. And while there have been mass killings perpetrated with firearms in the past (Valentine's Day Massacre, for example), the type of random killing sprees by disturbed teenagers such as today is a phenomenon of the past 20 years.

So, any reasonable person would conclude that the problem isn't the 2nd amendment, or even the alleged easy availability of / access to firearms.

The real problem is a cultural shift in America that has been brought on by leftist policies and "progressive" philosophies. Traditional notions of morality & ethics have been abandoned, the liberal news & media industry has declared open warfare on Christians, the ability to emotionally connect to others has been crippled by the corporate obsession with online connectivity, hyper-violent video games marketed to kids that are so realistic in their depiction of warfare that the games are used to train soldiers, the financial decimation of the public education and mental health systems. The disintegration of the nuclear family unit, leaving generation after generation of boys without stable, positive male role models, who then go on to father their own children without ever having had any example of positive fathering to learn from. And several other factors.

Prohibition in the US lasted about 13 years, generated an entire gangster culture, sparked waves of crime and violence and made criminals out of ordinary citizens who just wanted a beer after work.

But tell me more about how it's all just science fiction.
