Long article on Tulsi Gabbard and what she believes.
TL;DR version: Republicans will probably love her as President.

This is Jacobin we're talking about. They wouldn't like anyone who wasn't born singing The Internationale at birth instead of crying. They care about motivational purity as much as political correctness, a high bar indeed, and they're very much perfectionists (in the sense that they'll make enemies of even drastic improvement on the grounds of imperfection). Pretty sure they were opposed to Mandela after he was out of prison for not being revanchist enough.

That said, not everything they bring up is entirely baseless. It really does seem she's got a beef with Muslims, and I'm not a huge fan of Modi (and her connection to him) for most of the reasons listed. She's wrong on JCPOA. I really don't like that Steve Bannon and David Duke have spoken well of her. I really don't like that she was a proponent of making the no-fly list applicable to guns. It certainly seems she does ignore the economic realities that help fuel ISIS, and her legislation to end the visa waiver program for countries with citizens who have defected to ISIS is utterly braindead.

That said, the article has a major straw man, which is the idea that anyone thinks she's antiwar. I don't think she's ever presented herself that way.

Also fascinating is what they left out. She's basically Assad's mouthpiece in Washington, parroting his lines same as Trump parrots Putin. Her visit to Syria ended with her spouting Syrian government propaganda (a red flag large enough to enrage all the bulls in Spain). Between this and El-Sisi (and Modi to some extent), she's awfully fond of strongmen just like Trump.

Yeah, but it's the only article I could find on her that gives some details on her background. I read a better one some months ago, but can't find it now. It was hard enough to uncover that one, what with all the search results being spat out dating from her announcement that she's running.

Yeah, some of her views as they're presented are really questionable. It's possible that she's evolved on some of them, but the dirt is going to be hard to wash off if her campaign gets traction.

She may not have said it, but she's certainly tweeted out things which could give a person that impression.

They left out a lot of things, it seems. This Twitter thread has details on things that they left out. She's also said to be under the influence of a cult leader.

    There's also the whole snuggling-up-to-dic

Okay, Tulsi has my vote! If she can fulfill that campaign promise to me personally that'd be great.

Gabbard is loved by old men who cath aka Fox News viewers. If she ever becomes a Senator from Hawaii she may have the opportunity to switch parties like Jim Jeffords. The timing is all off right now.

There's a lot of back-and-forth among Bernie's '16 supporters. By me, while I love the guy, I think this time around he needs to be the eminence grise behind whoever he thinks will best represent his positions. Those who know him are aware of the young candidates he's been promoting in the past two years.

Would he make a good VP? Maybe. But I think he'd be better off being the power behind the throne.

no problem - neither her nor any other dumocrat will ever get those things passed. They can spin their wheels giving false gun control hope to their misguided fans 24/7 for all I care. It will keep them occupied like giving your car keys to a baby to distract them and shut them up.
That said this actually made me LOL so hard my sides hurt:

"making sure that terrorists are not allowed to buy guns" awesome idea! Then we can move on to box cutter, bomb and running people over bans.
Actually her idea makes sense! All you need are boxes on an application to check YES or NO to the question ARE YOU A TERRORIST? when they try to buy a shotgun at Walmart, and you should have them all rounded up lickety-split!

Speaking of "lickety-split" that's something I might try out with Tulsi if she's into that. ;)

"She's also said to be under the influence of a cult leader." and your point is? I thought all Democrats are under the influence of a cult leader. That can be the only reason for why they act like they do! :unuts:

Because it's much more rational to repeatedly back a "leader" who is clearly sociopathic, regardless of what other damage he does to you and your nation, as long as you get your Wall, amiright?

Sen. Sanders, Rep. Cummings to Introduce Bill to Lower U.S. Drug Prices
    By Yasmeen Abutaleb

    January 15, 2019

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Elijah Cummings plan to introduce legislation on Thursday aimed at lowering the cost of prescription drugs for U.S. consumers.

Democrats have been critical of efforts by the Trump administration to bring down drug prices after President Donald Trump promised to do so during his campaign and since being elected. They have said proposals by the administration let big drugmakers off the hook and did not do enough to help Americans.

The proposed legislation, which has several co-sponsors among Democrats in the House of Representatives that they now control, and in the Republican-led Senate, is comprised of three bills that aim to curb drug costs.

"The United States pays by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs," Sanders said in a statement.

"If the pharmaceutical industry will not end its greed, which is literally killing Americans, then we will end it for them," said Sanders, an Independent who caucuses with Democrats.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services last year rolled out a plan to lower drug prices and has introduced several modest proposals to curb medicine costs, but Trump has expressed frustration over continued price hikes by drugmakers.

Several pharmaceutical companies temporarily froze prices on select drugs last year. But drugmakers raised prices on more than 250 prescription drugs, including the world's top-selling medicine, AbbVie's Humira, to begin 2019.

In response to increased pressure, however, most drugmakers ended their practice of annual double-digit percentage increases of list prices, keeping most under 10 percent.

The Sanders and Cummings bill would peg U.S. prescription drug prices to the median price from five countries - Canada, Britain, France, Germany and Japan - where drug costs are typically far lower because of government price controls.

That is similar to a proposal the Trump administration said it plans to put forth in the coming months that would create an "international pricing index" to help the cost of prescription drugs to Medicare more closely align with other countries. The government health insurance program covers more than 40 million older and disabled Americans.

The bill would also allow the U.S. Secretary for Health and Human Services (HHS) to negotiate prices in Medicare Part D, a program that helps Medicare beneficiaries pay for self-administered medicines like those purchased at drugstores.

The proposal would also end a ban that keeps Americans from buying medicines at lower prices from Canada and other countries.

Drugmakers have long argued that price controls in the United States would stifle innovation and that importing drugs from other countries is unsafe.

They also say that rebates and discounts they must pay to insurers and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to ensure patient access to their products - and that are not passed on to consumers - forces them to keep list prices high. Trump administration proposals have singled out so-called middlemen like PBMs as a big part of the problem.

HHS Services Secretary Alex Azar has been defending the administration's efforts to lower drug prices.

"(Trump) and I will not stop our work until list prices go down," Azar wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

NO way I'd try to run with a 78 year old VP. If I'm a candidate that he anointed way back at the beginning I've already got his folks and they know he can do more as a point man in the senate than as VP

    noted in passing

With the 2020 presidential election already underway, 57 percent of registered voters said they would definitely vote against President Donald Trump, according to the latest poll from the PBS NewsHour, NPR and Marist.

Another 30 percent of voters said they would cast their ballot to support Trump, and an additional 13 percent said they had no idea who would get their vote.

I'm not for the wall. Many conservatives/republicans aren't for the wall. Now what is rational is backing a "leader" like Hillary who enables her cheating womanizing misogynistic lying husband and drags other women through the mud in the process. Now that is a leader with character!

I voted for Bernie in the 2016 primaries, but there is no way I would vote for him in 2020. Age is a real issue with me. The older candidates feel weaker against Trump IMO.

CNN still trying its best at convincing lefties how to think.

Continuing its traditions of "responsible journalism," CNN seems to be systematically issuing opinion-based propaganda pieces to coax their captives into correct-think (for their own good even if they don't know it).

Jan 13, 2019: CNN target #1: Rep. Tulsi Gabbard: in a clean and easy headshot, CNN identifies repeatedly that Gabbard is as Anti-LGBT as Obama was, but today that's a fatal wound.

    untitled.png

Jan. 17, 2019; CNN target #2: Robert "Poochie" O'Rourke. CNN, positive that Beto was only written into the script to ride skateboards and look cool though adding nothing of substance, decides to kill him off quickly.
    untitled.png

My best guess: CNN will keep picking off Dem candidates it doesn't approve of (for various reasons) until it gets to it's favored choice for America. Sanders? Cnn will kill him quick. Biden? Ditto. Actually CNN's propaganda mental-conditioning approach to "news" is probably in the Left's own best interest, culling the duds to help guide the Left to a 'winnable' candidate.

Who will be first to win CNN approval, and get the royal puff treatment? My guess: Senator 'ICE-is-KKK' Harris.

    CNN scores another head shot.

Jan 20, 2019; CNN target #3: Kirsten Gillibrand so mean and uncaring one could be forgiven for mistaking her for a white male, with policies and then transformations that match past successful reimaginations of such worthies as Obama of Hillary.
