    Yeah.

"Last time our fleet sailed, Euron Greyjoy ambushed it and annihilated it. What are the odds that that will ever happen again? No point in sending our air assets to scout ahead now is there?"

I find it interesting that Ned Stark was able to keep a secret that “besmirched” his honor for the good of the realm, yet Jon in this instance cannot. If he truly doesn’t want to be King, and he truly wants Danearys to rule, then why not keep the burden of the lie to yourself and not place it on your “siblings?” How is that any better? It’s only worse.

And part of my reservations about killing the Night King so early without fleshing our who or what that was all about is kind of showcased in this episode. There is no real reason for conflict between Jon & Dany, but I have to admit that the show has done a better job of fleshing it out than I anticipated... but the difference here is next to nothing. Jon does not want to rule. Dany does. They love each other. Get married and rule as King & Queen and Jon can take the backseat. And not for nothing... if Dany had taken Sansa’s advice about letting the troops rest & heal, it’s possible that they don’t loose Rhaegal. He was banged up as well. And what was the purpose of Dany riding a mile high on a dragon if she wasn’t looking out for threats?

All in all, my feelings are mixed on this episode and it remains clear that the show runners are looking for the exit ramp.

They can't get married for three reasons.

#1 The 7 Kingdoms looked the other way in the past but will no longer do it for Dany and Jon. The north especially would probably be very upset.

#2 Jon is simply too damn popular. The kingdom would follow his lead. Dany would be on the side. Which is the opposite of what she wants.

#3 Vary's also pointed out that Jon is a man which is still important to the 7 Kingdoms and that Jon actually has a better claim to the throne because he's a man. Cersei is the first female ruler and that's only because no one is strong enough to stop her.

Oh and there were definitely not enough bodies on those funeral pyres and it must really suck for the people who have to go out there and clean up the ashes.

The whole taking out Rhaegal and having him slam into the ocean like a 767 happened so quick I thought it was a dream sequence. Then I realized the show runners are once again moving this story too fast for its own good.

Yeah, this episode was easily the weakest for a season or two.

I also thought it was a dream sequence at first.

Wasn’t Tywin Lannister married to his cousin? I’m not sure how far the taboo goes, but I was under the impression that only sibling marriage is taboo in Westeros until Varys brought the subject up this episode.

So her main concern is vanity? That’s how I see the real difference between Jon & Dany ruling together.

Still looking forward to the last 2 episodes. Just wanted to say before next week:

    • Fuck Jaimie Lannister for breaking Brienne’s heart.
    • Fuck Bronn. Up until this episode I wished him well. He suffers from the same affliction that many people who operate outside the law do: Greed. He has turned down 2 or 3 castles now in pursuit of a bigger one. I get the feeling he will survive, but I kind of hope he gets “got” now.

Jaime broke her heart because he doesn’t want her to follow him or try to stop him.

He’s on his way to kill Cersei.

I didn’t get that at all. Sansa’s Words about watching as Cersei looses her head triggered Jaimie. He feels like Dany & Jon let him off too easy after all he’s done and that he’s not worthy of Brienne. This is why he confesses before he rides off. I think he’s going back to try & protect her now that the army of the dead is defeated.

I see no evidence of that. The powerful will do what they want. The current Queen literally fucks her twin brother. Nobody really cares about that.

Dany is quite popular everywhere besides the North. Cersei's allies are motivated by greed (power for Euron, golden for the mercenaries). Jon is popular in the North, the Vale, and the Riverlands, likely. John doesn't WANT to rule, and thus would likely leave most of that to Dany, only voicing his opinions on matters of great importance. They would be the Power together.

I can't argue with this, but I think having a current female ruler loosens up the "old boys network" somewhat.

    Also,
    - I believe Jaime is going to King's Landing to try one last time to convince Cersei to step down. Barring that, he will become Queenslayer at the appropriate time.
    - Yes, FUCK Bronn! He's too greedy for his own good! He certainly doesn't deserve Highgarden.
    - Gendry legitimized! The new Lord of the Stormlands! Woo Hoo!
    - Pod the Rod pulls his phallic magic on a Northern girl
    - If Jon/Dany do end up on the Iron Throne, does Samwell Tarly become Warden of the South? Does his family remain in Horn Hill, or do they get upgraded to Highgarden?

I doubt it would happen but Danny/Jon would make a lot a sense as co-rulers considering Danny’s eastern holdings, background and thoughts on slavery.

Have Jon be King in Westeros, Danny Queen consort, Danny Queen in Essos, Jon King consort. With the combined militaries it wouldn’t be too long until Danny had all of Essos. A new Valaryian Empire, but larger (since had Westeros) and not built on slavery.

The Roman Empire lasted a couple hundred years with Eastern and Western co-Emporers.

Would likely require at least one more dragon for communication/hookup purposes. ‘Hey Sam, gonna go meet Danny in Pentos for the night to uh, discuss uh, some joint ops, be back in the morning.’

No one dares say it to her face and no one is in position to remove her from power.

If any other house had the power to remove the Lannisters from power they would have done so the moment Cersei took the crown for herself.

Not in the rest of Westeros.

You don't understand how Dany thinks nor just how popular Jon becomes every time he meets people.

Dany wants to rule alone. Jon would end up eclipsing her in very short order just by being there. If he's just a former bastard he can marry her and they could be happy. But if everyone knows his real heritage he's going to end up being the real ruler of the kingdom.

He has the better claim to the throne by being male which leads to your next point.....

Loosens it up yes, but not enough that you could have two back to back female rulers IF Jon Snow aka Aegon Targaryen is there in front of everyone. The great houses will flock to him.

I can already see the excuses:

    #1 He's a man.
#2 Females are crazy. Look at Cersei as evidence number one. Look what she did as ruler.
#3 Females with dragons are also crazy. Look at Dany and what she did with her dragons as evidence number two. Not more than 30 years ago we got rid of a Targaryen king who was burning people and tried to burn down Kings Landing.
#4 Aegon "Jon" Targaryen would never have burned Kings Landing to the ground.
#5 Jon is half Stark and was raised as a Stark. He doesn't burn people. Jon led the fight against the dead and without him we'd all be dead. It was Jon who prevented Dany from burning down everything. (Sansa would be whispering this excuse in everyone's ear. ;))

This is why Dany flipped out when Jon told her who he actually is. It's why she begged him to not tell anyone. It's why she practically threatened to kill him if he told anyone. Watch the scene, her words, but especially her facial features. It's the look of someone saying with their eyes, "I'm going to stab your ass if you say anything to your sisters about who you are."

I didn't know how to interpret Jaime's intent in that scene.

Is he going off to try and get back together with Cersei?
    Convince her to quit?
    Assassinate her himself?
Or simply march with Daenerys and Jon?

Is it possible they turn Jaime back to the "Cersei side" and totally fuck up the entire arc he's been on? Sure.

But I just don't see them being that amazingly stupid.

He's on his way to put a stop to Cersei.

It would have to be unintentional on Tyrion’s part. There’s no way he could know about what Euron and Cersei have been up to and what their private conversations were about.

But, either way, Euron wouldn’t make an issue out of it until after the war was over.

    He isn’t dumb like Jon.

Ned Stark kept the secret about Jon for 18 years up to this dying day and didn’t even tell his wife.

Jon tells two teenage girls almost immediately. He didn’t need to say anything now. He didn’t need to tell Dany either. He could have just kept quiet until after the Wars.

Kings Landing got nuked. By a dragon. That's the type of damage where you wall of the remains and move the capital somewhere else.

And the winner is The Hound by setting The Mountain on fire.

And the winner is Jaime by ending that cunt Euron.

And the winner is the Red Keep by falling on top of Jaime and Cersei.

And someone upon seeing Arya: "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and her name that sat on him was Arya, and Hell followed with her. And power was given unto to her to kill the Mad Queen."
