If "tends to prove" means anything (as distinct from "proves"), it must mean "provides some evidence in favour of". Surely bragging that you have done a deed often counts as evidence when trying to decide if you did it once. But moreover, he also bragged about specific occasions, which does constitute evidence for those occasions. Certainly he must count as one witness to his own deeds.
Actually, no one has brought credible charges of sexual assault against Trump. If they had, it would be featured 24/7 on CNN. You may think the "grab 'em by the p***y" remark is an admission, but you have to consider his immediately following statement: "they let you do it," implying consent. Hard for some to accept, but rich and famous guys like Trump have women vying to be with them. Look at his wives. He's obviously had a pretty good selection over the years. Every sexually active guy has done something with a woman that would be considered sexual assault were her consent not implied or expressed.
That is true. We long passed the point where either party can claim that it supports and defends the rights of women. We've already seen the excuses, the rationalizations, the outright twisting of events to remove past violations from recent memory, and I expect that will continue. Who knew that when Donald Trump said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and still get elected, that the Dems would make their own attempt four years later by pushing a man who is mentally declining, has major problems when it comes to women's bodily autonomy (he's also on record as saying women shouldn't have complete control over their own body). Corporations like banks, pharma industries, defense contractors, they own our government, they own both parties, and they win regardless of whether a (D) or an (R) sits in the White House. With Trump they bit off a bit more than they could chew, but he's still someone who can be handled (keeping in mind that only profit growth counts, not body count). Joe Biden probably barely knows where he is half the time, so he would do great sitting behind the Resolute Desk, signing bills into law that would cut taxes, create more means testing for the poor, and sign more bills into law that lead to more legislative oppression like the PATRIOT act and the 1994 crime bill. For people who are decently well off, they won't notice much change, but for anyone who is poor, or who is a person of color, or a woman who does not have the privilege of wealth to give her security, we will all notice, and we'll all suffer for it, as will the immigrant kids locked in cages, or the countless lives in countries who have the temerity to be living on or near something we want. This whole "back to normal" thing is only good if you're privileged enough to still believe things were normal before Trump took office. Long story short, partisans don't care. Their party may not be perfect, but they're certainly better than [insert other party here]. Further investigation into what is fundamentally wrong with both parties will be glossed over, and those who want to fix them will be told it will be done when there is a less pressing time, and that for now we must act immediately to remove [name of current President/Senator/Congressman] from office before they destroy the country. So we never get around to it. The same issues King was talking about were the same issues Jackson was talking about were the same issues Sanders was talking about: the economic oppression of entire swathes of people; people of color, women, the white working poor, being exploited and abused in the name of unfettered capitalism. 60 years in the public eye, and we still haven't gotten around to it. So there comes a point where one has to realize it's bullshit, neither the GOP nor Democratic party gives a good goddamn beyond token gestures, and that it's all to keep us quiet and compliant. All of that said, because groups like Planned Parenthood, Time's UP, and many other liberal organizations that supposedly stand up for women have all fallen silent in the face of Tara Reade's story. The DNC has shifted its support behind Biden while people like Stacy Abrams said she believed Biden (she's hoping he'll pick her for his VP slot) and says that women need to be heard, but I guess that doesn't apply to this woman, and how fascinating that those same groups, and politicians, including Joe Biden himself who said: They now fall silent, or reject it outright, claiming a lack of information, that it's too soon to judge. That is most convenient. So I support Tara Reade. I believe she is telling the truth. I believe my eyes and ears when I see Biden's behavior towards women in the public eye. I also see the responses from people who were fighting with righteous anger to make sure Christine Blasey Ford was heard, and how Tara Reade is treated now, how the arguments used against Ford are being used here, too, but by those very same voices who demanded her story be given its moment of credibility. I see all of these things, and I remember. I'll remember when the Democratic National Convention makes its choice. I'll remember when I go to the polls this November, and I hope so many more will, too.
As you know, nothing can be proven absolutely. I use the term "tends to prove" to mean "goes a long way to demonstrating the reality of something" even if it is not actual proof. That is much stronger than "provides some evidence in favour of". But the only sure evidence we have of Trump bragging he has "done a deed" refers to sexual agression, not to rape. And to say that that tends to prove him guilty of a specific case of rape is arguing from the general to the particular, which is of course a fallacy. Just because someone is a known thief, that does not prove they committed a specific theft. The specific guilt must be established on the basis of evidence that concerns that specific case. I was not aware of that. All I knew about was his "grab them by the pussy" brag. If he has indeed bragged about specific cases in which he assaulted a woman sexually, then I would fully agree that that "tends to prove" his guilt in those cases.
Disclaimer for anyone reading @Paladin's posts on this topic: he has gone on the record several times before at Wordforge defending rapists.
Also, once again The Onion nails it: Republicans Ridicule Democrats For Caring As Little About Sexual Assault As They Do Source: https://www.theonion.com/republican...tm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_source=facebook
I have friends IRL who ignore or defend nearly everything Trump does and when I bring up the fact that they all bagged on Clinton for Lewinski and the others, they change the subject.
Oh fuck off with this shit...... The child rape case was pure bullshit. It was such garbage that even the Democrats and their media allies during the campaign dropped it. Only idiot leftists like you continue to spout that shit.
Why is it acceptable to write "people of color" but not acceptable to write "colored people"? I don't mind being referred to either way and neither do my friends.
