The difference is that there's no reason to think that Biden would stubbornly cling to power in the face of evidence that he was facigng difficulty going forward, and there's no reason to think that a potential Biden cabinet or Democratic congress would not pull the trigger even if he were reluctant to step down. I actually think it way more likely that Biden voluntarily resigns for no particular reason within the first two years of his term to allow President Harris to build a case as an incumbent rather than serve a full four-year terrm and eitther run for re-election or simply have her run in a primary without the benefit of having been in the big chair.
He can call himself whatever he likes. Equally I can call him whatever I like. Freedom is a wonderful thing.
The first step is optionally left to legislation; Congress can replace the Cabinet (but not the VP) in the process.
Honestly, Trump's reign over America has brought to light exact how much our government is run on the honor system and the assumption that everyone comes into office to act on good faith. There's so much in our system that need codification and more black-and-white clarity.
Well on it's way to happening. And you know what's going to happen at the same time? A lot of the folks that should have put country over party are going to find out they don't have jobs, either. Funny how that works.
Trump's covid treatment developed using fetal cells Abortion -- always a problem in principle until a Republican politician needs the benefits.
So apparently he wanted the "mask remove" moment when he got back from Walter Reed to be even fucking dumber - he discussed a stunt where he would appear frail walking up the White House steps, then rip open his shirt to reveal a Superman T-shirt underneath. This is the President of the United States. And before anyone busts out that pic of Obama playing with a lightsaber: that was with event-jousting folk involved in the Chicago Olympic bid.
Do you know the memes that would come from trump playing with a light saber? If we are going to be giving him props a light saber would be awesome. Maybe a skeletor mask. Some romulan ears and technology? Agent smith sunglasses? A harry potter wand? Dress him up like Troi's mother. It is halloween, and we could have some fun with this.
The first time I saw this, I assumed it was from the Borowitz Report. It is literally impossible to parody this idiot anymore.
I heard he was going to walk up to the White House with a cane and a limp, and then the cane would get stuck and he'd do a somersault.
Lecturing the rest of us on FB about how "it's not nice to make fun of the President when he's sick!"
Next best thing, I just donated $190 in your name to Texas GOP. My first political donation since Marianne Williamson. In the same spirit, earlier today I'd responded to two telephone polls (for both I replied as a former republican now firmly democratic) - don't ask me why I've been getting so many of this type of call the past month, though mostly I've just been letting 'em go to vm.
Hmm... Trump boarded AF1 using the cargo ramp rather than the usual steps. The ramp means less climbing. Also:
I can't believe he still is reluctant to wear a mask in public knowing that he has been sick and can potentially infect others. In fairness, the IV could have just been for fluids and not actual meds.
What part of "he doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself", is having a hard time getting into your head?
I get that he's a self-centered douche. It's more that even from the perspective of "what's in it for me?" being able to say "I've learned how dangerous this is, and I'm slightly changing course" would benefit him politically. But maybe that is naive of me too, since anyone who is potentially voting for Trump at this point is really not going to care that he is potentially infecting the people who are supposed to be protecting him. And some of the people who are potentially voting for him actively like that he's saying fuck masks and thereby owning the libs.
