Oh come on, you think this is decent discussion? Do not get me wrong, this has it's attractions, but even though a couple of people around here might be able to form an intelligent decent argument, there is not much here. There are places that I have been where you would get shit for posting such small responses. The warnings would fly for @garamet , @Faceman , or @Ten Lubak level input. Even though he is often wrong, @oldfella1962 would do much better because he does explain himself. @Jenee is capable of supporting her points, as are people like @Bickendan and @Order2Chaos . I cannot list all the people who do, but there is just a peanut gallery around here that never does much. Yes, even though I give him shit on his math @Asyncritus , aka assy, does explain himself. But really, Chad, WAB, TLS, and a few others are just commenters.

I am admitting I get more reaction around here which is why I bring stuff around here more. When you have extremely moderated conversation for the sake of discussion it is more like a report for a job. The discussion runs under a different paradigm and you get off on different things. if I am going to put effort into grammar, really awesome citations, format, and spelling I go other places. If I am posting with the peanut gallery I am sending flames back for fun.

It is a reason I would not put serious work around here. I do not want to hear garamet bitch about something decent because I wrote it. I can throw this shit out here all day long and I do not have the same level of caring. However, if I really put some effort into something you better damn well know I would want her shit banned for the bullshit responses she gives.

This is what this board is about. You should never have people putting what they care about out here because someone is going to shit on it just because they are a shit. I am not saying it is just garamet either. I could be the brutal one. Don't come talk to me about standards in a place that does not lift the bar up because if I had standards I would not put my words into the trash heap of free speech. Know your place. Only trolls seek free speech and that is because trolls shit on everything.

speaking of....quite a few years ago in my town they busted some Mexican restaurant owner for making fake drivers licenses, social security cards and other documents for "undocumented workers"
and selling them of course. He had shitloads of money hidden in a freezer!

You could eliminate such a income by just giving immigrants the ability to work for a decent wage. Really, those horrible mexicans were over here mowing our lawns, cutting our bushes, cleaning our houses, and cooking for us. We gotta stop that sort of thing before we all have well manicured lawns, full bellies, and things fixed in the house.

That fucking guy. He really let loose some destructive criminals.

The freezer guy was a Mexican by ethnicity born in the USA citizen who took advantage of the illegally entered Mexicans' desire to work because Mexico didn't offer enough opportunity. That's why the vast majority of them sneak into the US. For the most part they can work circles around anybody & everybody born & raised here. Are they "takin' our jobs?" :shakefist: Yes, sometimes, but often those jobs are tough to fill because Americans won't do them. Or Americans take these jobs but they are undependable or will quit when they find a better paying job. If we were truly serious about it we would shut and arrest down businesses hiring undocumented workers - are we doing that? Just fining them is a joke.

Bottom line immigration reforms are needed! Republican, Democratic, bipartisan I don't care, just get it done! Find a way to speed up the process of vetting & allowing in hard working productive people.
Will "bad guys" slip through? Yes but we already have MILLIONS of native born "bad guys" running around. We keep arresting them & releasing them to commit the same crimes over & over but that's another issue. But sticking to my point, treat the recently arrived "bad guys" like we do any native born citizen bad guy. DO NOT DEPORT THEM! They just end up coming right back here.
Arrest & process them through the legal/penal system we have in place right here in the US (or state in which they were arrested). They wanted to come here, they are stuck here for better or worse.

5G nutter sounds pretty sexy! Obviously in this case it's something different. 5G isn't something I'm really interested in, but I hear it referenced on cell phone commercials. Break it down short & sweet - why are some people against 5G technology?

duh! And now that tinfoil has for the most part been replaced by aluminum foil, evil can get in even faster!
Hmmm......"they" say that aluminum foil is cheaper than tin foil, but is that the real reason? :calli:

Usual stuff. 5G transmissions are harmful to your health (some have claimed it is the actual cause of COVID or that the virus can propagate via the transmissions), 5G allows the government to spy on you, 5G fucked your wife while you were out, etcetera.

There's more to it than that. It's not just that they take jobs that others don't want, but that even when they have a good, real, well-paid job, that still doesn't mean they are "taking our jobs". This is a very common fallacy in immigration economics, but it is still a fallacy.

The number of available jobs is not a zero-sum game. As a general rule, the presence of people in an economy creates a number of jobs roughly equal to the number of people you are talking about. That is why an economy in a small country of a million people can work, with jobs for pretty much everyone, yet an economy in a much bigger country, say one with a hundred million people, can work as well, again with jobs for pretty much everyone. The presence of those addition 99 million creates jobs (because they are spending money, and need things like cars, homes, clothes, video games, baseball tickets, whatever) because they increase demand for goods and services, thus providing the economic incentive to provide them.

It is also worth noting that studies seem to indicate that crime rates among illegal immigrants are no higher, overall, than among the population in general (unless you count the very fact of being an illegal immigrant as a crime; I am talking about crimes that actually hurt someone else). In fact, I have seen studies that show they tend to be much lower.

I pretty much agree with this completely (except for the very last part; I would be in favor of deporting them once they have served their time). I am very much in favor of a very streamlined approach to immigration. If you have 100 million new immigrants come in at once, that will produce a difficult time as the economy adjusts to the new levels of supply and demand, but there is no reason to think that immigration reform would mean 100 million people coming in at once.

Vet them to avoid any obvious bad apples, sure. But give them the benefit of the doubt as a general rule. If they believe the USA is a land of freedom and opportunity, then they are welcome.

The Republican approach to immigration is simply to use immigrants as scapegoats: make people afraid of immigrants by pretending they are "taking are jobs" and that they are "a bunch of criminals", simply for electoral purposes. And who cares for "give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free".

 so the government doesn't already spy on us? Also if 5G can spread the COVID virus can it be used to disseminate the vaccine too? That would be some Nobel Prize shit right there!
So 5G fucked my wife? Well somebody has to! :salute: Regardless if this turned out to be just a crazy suicide I'm disappointed.

no that's not him. BTW he was not a registered voter so I doubt he'd be wearing a Trump hat. Also check out post #109 with a pic of him as a much younger man.

Maybe he wasn't allowed to vote because of his criminal record? Or maybe he was one of those "system's rigged against Trump anyway" types.

And? You still look like your high school yearbook picture? :wtf:
