Hmm, can the Gaston song be reworked for Trump? (Tbf, it would be an insult to Gaston - both Beauty and the Beast, and la Gaffe)
I'll get to work on that. ♫ When I was a boy I grabbed four dozen puss every morning to help me get hard
The Internet got you, fam! Although it is about a year old, so it doesn't reference the pandemic, his 2020 loss or the riot, it's still pretty good. Skip ahead about a minute if you want to get to the song.
Oh, you haven o idea... Randy Rainbow is fuckin' brilliant... check the bio (and other work) definitely... but yeah, way overqualified to simply be on youtube. really surprised someone like John Oliver hasn't snapped him up.
I'm sure he's not happy but I get the impression that mostly he's trying to be a clever troll and he's just indescribably bad at it.
Yes, depending on which buttons you push. He seems to get his jollies "owning the libruhls" with circular logic, non-sequitors and non-stop "whataboutism". When the subject turns to policing the answers are generally thoughtful and even handed. I might not agree with them, but they're entirely different in tone than anything remotely political.
Mike Pence, IMO. The Christian Nationalists at CNP put him on Trump's team in exchange for getting their Dominionist priories (which they largely did). There are other aspirants - Cruz particularly but they recognize how unlikable he is which is why they ditched him for Trump. But Pence has the appeal of actually being a true believer - they have been grooming him for the job for a long time - few of the other pretenders are, they just say the right things. Pompeo is but he, too, is an unlikable asshole. So Clinton, who'd have been a perfectly competent but unremarkable president who could never exer escape the baggage of the right wing propaganda machine...BUT she'd have appointed a LOT of judges including at least one SCOTUS (Kennedy doesn't retire for her, Mitch refuses to confirm anyone for RBG) and prevented a lot of the Trump chaos from having opportunity to manifest. Then 4 years of Pence trying to go full theocrat and leaning hard into Reaganomics (while doing fuckall about covid) and he probably can't get re-elected either, and 2024 has a big field of Dems (like 2020 did) and a fairly progressive nominee. I don't think that's Harris (she really didn't seem an impressive campaigner) but someone that would be hard to make shit stick to like Cris Murphy or Brian Schatz (or maybe Booker solves the puzzle?)
One of the 10 Republicans who chose people and constitution over party and ambition explains why she voted to impeach:
So.... what do you all think of the conservative argument that moving forward with impeachment will only further divide the country and is counter to the Biden Administration's goal of national unity? IMHO, it's an argument not made in good faith. Most people making it are the one's who still deny that Biden is the duly elected president. Trump included. In addition to that, Trump and his allies won't even admit to any wrongdoing regarding the events of 01/06/2021. These would seem to be pre-requisites before we get tot he unity part.
It's a bunch of self-serving crap from people looking to avoid the consequences of their actions. Fuck 'em.
The TLDR response: "You first." Like you said, if people on the Right were truly interested in healing and unity, they should take the first step of admitting some pretty basic truths: 1. Even though there might be concerns about voter fraud, there is no evidence of it in any meaningful sense. 2. Joe Biden is our duly elected president and should be accorded the rights and privileges appropriate to his election 3. Even though we have legitimate policy disagreements, Democrats and Republicans are all trying to do what's best for our country. 4. There are X, Y, Z things that we can generally agree on and let's work together to accomplish those htings ASAP. 5. The insurrection twisted American principles and was a bridge too far.
If you listen closer, they were saying "Hang my pants." Clearly they were concerned with their laundry.
i just watched a few clips of the impeachment debates,.. it's amazing how many times Lincoln was quoted in both support and defense of impeachment.
So I was talking to some locals on Facebook that are STILL convinced that Trump will still be president, and Google, Amazon, all of mainstream media, and of course Facebook, will be gone come Thursday.
Except they have wildly different definitions of what constitutes "best for our country" - or, in this context, even what constitutes "our"
True, but admitting that Democrats mean well would represent a step forward from Democrats are teh evil who want to destroy this country with SOCIALISM, stolen votes, illegal immigrants while forcing you to be gay married and taking away your guns, beef, and gas.
The "patriots" are beginning to turn on Trump too: https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/en...etrayed_n_60016777c5b62c0057bc11ab?ri18n=true Beyond the concern about violence from these fuckers, my worry is that such messaging will allow Trump to wriggle off the hook for accountability - essentially "See?! They would have rioted anyway!!".
Yep, for this cohort, it isn't about Trump - it's about the white supremacy. Several of the confederate leaders after the Civil War that agreed to work toward restoring the US faced death threats. Some, like John Mosby, actually had attempts on their lives. He took a job working for the Grant administration in China to avoid threats to his family.
