I tested positive last week, probably caught it from one of my school age gremlins (suspect daughter).
Luckily we have all only had minor symptoms, I know others that have suffered much more. I only really found out because I have to have twice weekly lateral flow tests for work, and it was confirmed by a PCR. I had a headache for a day, but even then I’m not sure it was the Covid that caused it.

Good to see you around anyway, and glad to hear you're not doing too poorly.

I did my own PCR test so we could go to Switzerland (my mother-in-law was dying of cancer and we needed the tests to get back across the border) and was absolutely astonished when it came back positive. I already live almost like a hermit, so I really don't know where I would have gotten infected. And I have a doctor friend who is also pretty sure I don't actually have it.

I’m really sorry to hear about your mother in law :(
It all seems a bit bizarre, really. I’ve also heard of people testing positive when they have been very strict about social distancing or shielding. A number of children at my daughter’s school have had colds so think it’s probably circulating there. She had a very, very mild cold for a couple of days, but primary age children aren’t tested and she didn’t have any of the 3 symptoms that get you a PCR here, so I’m not certain she’s had C19, just a hunch.

It happens that people who are extremely careful get contaminated. It happens that people in my age category (over 65) have no symptoms whatsoever. But both are rather unusual phenomena. The combination of the two is even more unlikely, especially given that the "postive" report mentioned that the results could not be exploited because of "insufficient viral load".

So I highly suspect that I don't have it.

Sadly, no. Last time I was this disappointed was when I had an MRI and didn't get superpowers.

No. Not one symptom, either. Not even a sore arm at the injection site.

Can't speak for the UK, but testing in 'Murica was a crapshoot at best, even if you had all the symptoms.

Agree - where I live at least, testing was more chaotic and unorganized than getting the actual vaccine. But what amazes me is when a business/office or whatever has somebody at the door who asks you "do you have any symptoms?" but even if you did, all you have to do is say "no" and you walk right on in. I don't quite get the concept with that.

In metro Atlanta testing is/was readily available, fast, and easy. As was voting for Biden. Many times.

If you didn't do it by the suitcase load, you are a mere apprentice. How can you ever expect democracy to work when you are afraid to vote just as often as it takes? :shakefist:

I swear, the single best predictor of Republicanism is probably faulty empathy circuits ... the inability to understand anything unless personally affected by it.

These is actually a lot of truth to that.

There was a time when the left-right political divide was primarily class warfare (the privileged aristocrats wanting what was best for themselves, vs. the working class wanting what was best for them), but as standards of living have gone up overall, that has changed. The political "left" today is more about caring in general for those who are oppressed, exploited, poor, suffering, excluded, not able to provide properly for themselves, etc.

IOW, the left has expanded its philosophy to include others in difficult circumstances, as opposed to simply looking for their own advantages the way it was two centuries ago. The right, however, has not moved much at all. It is still about "what is best for me, and too bad for any others".
