I hope it’s good, but if it’s set after Revenge of the Sith would they have killed Jedi and basically turned evil?
The CGI series is the second Clone Wars series, isn't it? Am I misremembering, or wasn't there an animated Clone Wars series that ended a few years before that (the same guy who did Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack)? And then didnt a new CGI Clone Wars start this year, or was that a continuation of the first CGI series?
Oh I see. Yes, there was a short Clone Wars series by Gennady Tartakovsky in 2003, 2004, and 2005. I seem to remember that each episode was like two or three minutes long (at least at first). Then there was the movie in 2008 immediately followed by the "real" clone wars series. Anyway. The most recent "Clone Wars" that you're mentioning is just the final season of the Clone Wars series that started in 2008. So I guess you could say this: Clone Wars 1 -> Gennady Tartakovsky miniseries 2003 - 2005 Clone Ware 2 -> 2008 film Clone Wars 3 -> CGI series from 2008 - 2013, 2014 (Netflix) and 2020 (Disney+). Clone Wars 4 -> "The Bad Batch". The trailer for "The Bad Batch" even goes so far as to show the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" logo which then burns away and turns into the "Bad Batch" logo. So definitely "The Bad Batch" is at best a continuation of "The Clone Wars" and at worst, a spin-off of it.
This one is probably the one I'm least interested in. Seems like pretty standard 'rogue elite special forces commandos', a story that has been played out many times. Though maybe if one of the clones has a mohawk, gold chains, and pities the fools.
Holy shit that's exhausting to track. I think I watched the first season of the Tartakovsky series and bailed after that.
I swear to god more media has been generated off of a throw away line in A New Hope than any franchise.
They also made a movie based on lines from ANH crawl. It's also the best of the Disney Star Wars movies.
Honestly Rogue One is the least based off of throwaway lines. Solo's plot revolves around an attempt to retcon George Lucas not knowing what a parsec is. Rogue One really only ties into ANH at the end, but as far as I remember, isn't really based off of similar throwaway lines.
It's not complicated. Tartakovsky isn't canon anymore. They cherry-picked Asaaj Ventriss into the CGI Clone Wars though. General rule of thumb, if it's hand-drawn, it likely isn't canon anymore. Only exception is "Forces Of Destiny" is canon, but nothing Earth-shaking happens in it, and it was created to try to sell a line of dolls to girls, and failed. So, go ahead and stick to "if it's CG, it counts". Going by that rule, yes, everything CG with "Clone Wars" in front of it is the same series.
Sequel bashing? All I said was that is was the best of the Disney Star Wars. How's that sequel bashing?
Whelp, the Clone Wars have ended, the clankers are no more and the Bad Batch is on the run from the Empire. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
