This is nothing new. Despite the "zero covid" policy, and the fact that anyone entering China has to endure 2-5 weeks of quarantine of some sort, we have suffered outbreaks on a monthly basis, especially since Delta. Due to the draconian domestic controls, even traveling to neighboring cities can be a hassle.

And the latest obsession: Omicron arriving on international mail packages, especially cold storage shipments. I don't know that the science substantiates this. But this past week, lots of people receiving parcels got flagged by the risk tracking system, which means they have to get a series of tests before they could resume their daily activities.

Makes sense from an organ donor scarcity standpoint. In the same way that you'd want an alcoholic to quit drinking before giving them a liver, it also make sense not to waste a good heart on someone is going to squander it.

This one makes me nervous. I'm still waiting to hear back from UPENN if I'll be approved for the heart transplant. If it requires a booster, I might have trouble. With some reports of the vaccines and the boosters affecting the hearts and haw badly the vaccine affected me makes me very unsure of getting the booster. Of course this may be a moot point if I'm not accepted or if accepted and I decided not to go through with the transplant.

Statistically you're far more likely to be "badly affected" by a covid infection than you are by a booster shot, especially after an organ transplant when you're having your immune system artificially suppressed to lower the chances of your body rejecting the donor heart.
