and like him, you've managed to exemplify the point by your response... (mods, wanna dump this into that political compass thread I started as an attempt to divert from here, please?)
Someone please explain to me how this is a well written show? Also, can someone explain to me how it's "progress" to show black people acting/talking, for lack of a better word, ghetto? And don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. Ex. "Hey gurlll, yo hair looks nice, I think Imona get my hair did. Uh huh." Snaps fingers in a z motion like Men on Film.
I thought the latest episode was well written and enjoyable. So far I’m having fun watching it. It’s not the deepest, most serious and dramatic thing on TV and it’s not trying to be.
Just because you don’t know other posters personally that can vouch for you doesn’t mean my perception of your posts is incorrect.
christ... the "go back and cherry pick all the posts where I've been a racist/sexist/simped for the ultra rich" gambit? show me once where you haven't supported a status quo vs. social/racial/economic justice (which you'll now dismiss as "vague").
Shulkie 5 is better, I'd prefer a straight up Titania but this version is a little interesting. No magic and Wong Being An Idiot(tm) in this one. I guess we are done with Abomination and Tim Roth. But this one was more Ally McBeal, had a few cute moments, nothing overtly cringe worthy, and while Black Gay Edna Mode is an obvious rip off, at least they give us a teaser of DD in ep 6. ARE YOU HAPPY DICKY? ARE YOU?
Yeah, I'm done with this one. I'll watch DD show up on youtube. The writing is beyond awful, the characters are all morons, and they are all doing ridiculous awful shit to each other. Even Jen shows up at her friend's wedding as She-Hulk when she knows that's the wrong thing to do. Titania is a bust, what a waste of Jaemeela Jamil.
Did anyone catch the Wolverine Easter egg in ep 2? A news site Shulkie looks at has the tiny side headline "Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl." If this Easter egg can be taken as canon, 1. Wolverine exists 2. the events of the beginning of X-Men 1 have happened. Whether he met up with Rogue, and found his way to the Xavier school, we'll find out...some day. Yeah, we've had our fist-fights over how canon Easter eggs are in say...Star Trek, but...Marvel's been better at that. Trek hasn't found a piece of soft-canon they haven't liked to kill with a sniper rifle, whereas, Kevin Feige will delete fucking graffiti if it doesn't fit with his idea of the timeline.
I like that Dicky thinks a specific incident of a man with metal claws in a bar brawl HAS to be the brawl seen in X-Men 1. It's Logan. Bar brawls are his morning stretch.
I don't really get the heat it's getting. It's clearly a full-on sitcom, I don't expect anything more from it than that. Not groundbreaking or anything, and I seldom watch straight comedies anymore anyway, but it's a better comedic take on Marvelverse than Lower Decks is a comedic take on Trek, IMO - though I think that show is fine too
Well that's my problem - I think that's shit too. But then, I never liked the 'everyone is shitty to each other, it's funny!' comedies. Seinfeld is a big meh to me. Both of these shows are in that mold.
Oh fuck oooooooffffffff with this shit already. First, there are several characters pictured that nobody hates and are actually popular. Second, the days of using a "protected class" of people as a shield against criticism of a shitty product are finally starting to wind down. Soon enough, "You criticized a show with XYZ in it, therefore you definitely just hate all things XYZ" will be universally disregarded as what it truly is: mindless, low-rent deflection that talentless fucking HACKS have worn the hell out.
