If the recordings actually do show that then he's the biggest idiot in the history of the White House. Everyone knows that phone calls going in and out of the white house is recorded. I think you are right in the first take - there will be more than one. I mean, hell, Barr helped him with any number of illegal things but then the election lie was too much even for him.

If I have to credit a single person for stepping up to stop Trump ahead of time I'd say it was Mattis. He foretold the Jan 6th insurrection six months before it happened, and the Chiefs of Staff understood what was at stake when the time came. But hey, there's been a lot of people who did the right thing. And way, wayyyy too many that didn't.

Several sources have now said that they will have indicted either earlier today or on Wednesday. The Grand Jury doesn't meet tomorrow. My guess is they will indict on Wed and move on Thurs. They are still working out how to surrender him per other reports.

More fun - the DC court of appeals has ordered a temporary stay on Corcoran's attorney-client exemption.

However, they gave Corcoran until midnight tonight to file his case.

And prosecutors until 6am tomorrow to respond.

That's unprecedented, normally those appeals take weeks if not months.

The most likely reason for unheard of speed of arguments by a 3 judge appeal panel - there's something in the brief that is of utmost civil import, like National Security issues.

So more info - Judge Beryl Howell pretty much gutted Trump's legal defense, including stating that she believed that Trump willfully lied to his lawyers about withholding secret documents therefore causing them to perjure themselves. This lead to her order to pierce Attorney Client protections as it was done in pursuance of an illegal act. She then went further and ordered Trump lawyer Corcoran to turn over transcripts of Trump's discussions that Corcoran tape recorded.

This could easily be a tremendous smoking gun against Trump, as it includes his previously privileged communications with his own attorney. But then said Attorney was hung out to dry as is facing criminal sanction themselves for misrepresenting the issue to the DOJ. AND it appears said attorney is providing significant information on what aspects of information Corcoran has on Trump. It may very well be that Corcoran is actively cooperating in this.

HOWEVER, this was all done in the last week of Howell's tenure on the DC Court. So now we'll have to see if it's sent back on appeal, and if so a different judge will have to take up the case.

But we should expect the stay that the Court of Appeals indicated to be put on the piercing of privilege to be ruled on very quickly, due to the amazing speed in the filings requested by the court above.

I hope it's an episode where a pseudo-Trump pays off a pseudo-Stormy, and gets perp walked.

Big takeaways - Edwards attorney testified that Edwards didn't know that using personal moneys to keep his mistress away from media attention was illegal. Trump's attorney will say the opposite. Edwards was doing so to prevent his dying wife from learning of his infidelity - and made a payment after dropping out of the election to help his girlfriend stay away from the media. One of Melania's closest friends has written that Melania knew of the affair. And Cohen has already spent time in prison for these issues. He does not materially prosper for cooperating, the witnesses against Edwards did.

Appellate court ruled that Trump lawyer Corcoran has to testify and that attorney client privilege is invalid due to Trump's using it in the furtherance of crimes.

This also means that all Corcoran's recordings and notes will be subpeonaed.

This could be a major smoking gun.

That came because he violated numerous campaign contribution laws in order to cover up the affair. It's my understanding that Trumps payoff was before the election cycle, but the prosecutor has been tight lipped about details so who knows.


I do remember Edwards having this affair while his wife was dying of cancer which not only destroyed any chances of a political career, but turned his family against him.
