So I went to Momocon this weekend. For those who know Atlanta I was in the Westin and had to make it to the con center behind olympic park. Turns out I am much worse than I thought physically so I fell down the hotel escalator and had huge troubles with the walking.

So after falling down the escalator and dealing with unpacking and the mile walk I take a break on a bench before getting to the con center properties by the CNN building and the street preachers are out spouting hate at the crowd. After a good rest on a bench I stumble up behind the pne at the intersection and he is spouting off about sin and damnation in hell so I go up behind him and tell him lucifer is waiting for him. So he whi[ps around and asks me what I said to see me there standing above him in drag, and I told him he heard me.

Then idiot starts in on his speaker about how horrible it is to pretend to be a woman and be a man in a dress. Big fucking mistake. I laiugh and give him the finger as I am walking across the street and he is spouting crap at me. By the time I crossed there were already a number of crossplaying guys all over street preacher, and the fangirls were joining in.

I do not know what happened as I was just trying to make it to registration without dying, but that was the end of the street preachers in olympic park and on the con property. I do not know if they just decided to not bother with the weekend or if police ended up removing them for the con. I cannot imagine they just decided to leave on the own given how antagonistic they were, but I also do not think Olympic park was private property the police could tresspass the street preachers from. I could be wrong because the park did have gates and closed at 10 so maybe Atlanta properties asked for the rif raff to be removed for the con.

In other news my deepest apologies to @steve2^4 but I really barely survived because of all the walking and my friend thought the valet parking at the hotel would fill up. I need to start physical therapy because barely being able to make it a city mile sucks.

So about… eight months ago I guess a bar/restaurant opened up in ruralish* Snohomish County. About an hour and a half from me. It wasn’t explicitly a Queer or Polyam place but the people behind it were people I knew. And they were friendly and inviting to those kinda folks. When I was there a couple weeks back they had rented out the event space to the Snohomish Drag Queen Runway Off. Twice a month they had Snoho Polyam meetups on Weds and on the in between Weds was table top gaming nights, so basically every Weds night was a Polyam meetup.

It was a bit of a drive for me so I wasn’t a ‘regular’ but I went a couple times a month. I like country queers, I do. Like Army queers there is just a kinda shared connection that you don’t always get from folks privileged enough to grow up in cities where they weren’t hated on growing up and had to hide.

Burned to the ground Saturday night. To the ground.

Investigation hasn’t been completed much less released but considering how quickly and thoroughly the place burned, and how recently it opened (and thus had up to date fire codes, inspections) arson is suspected.



*I have a hard time thinking of a place, even in the middle of the woods, only an hour away from a major city as rural.

I know security in stores like target. They are there and with the employees can react immediately. If I walked into target in a fucking dress I would be surrounded by plain clothes in a few seconds. I have been there. Idf I tossed something on the ground I would be escorted out of the store very quickly. They would not let a sales associate start discussing shit with me like I see them doing with the nazis.

It is the wrong choice to support Target while they permit these acts and cower to the Nazis.

Last time I set foot in a Target was 3 years ago for emergency TP during the early covid paper-pocalypse.

So I went back to the church where I went to drag queen bingo a while back for their new fundraiser. One of the people who run it struck up a conversation with me. So I asked him what happened with drag queen bingo and it seems the group that was doing it was in competitions in the state, and now they have broken up to find new places where they can perform because why risk florida now that there might be a problem. The church was willing to host them and defend against any problems, but the performers cannot afford lawyers to defend them, and it is not guaranteed you will get help from places like the ACLU or GLBT organizations.

We still had fun, and there were still people there supporting the community and each other. So really they just stopped Bingo. There were even gender bending dance performances of dances. Really, the Tango is a saucy dance with two people that is pretty sexual. Much more sexual than watching a drag queen sing "I will Survive."

It will come back because Bingo is fun and drag performers are still out there. I am just tired of Rhonda Santis and Orange golf man being the only drag male performance being allowed in the state.
