As a person who holds a BA in History, I hold Gordon S. Wood in high esteem and if he has a problem with it, then it’s probably not an accurate interpretation of history. No because he’s probably the most authoritative historian on the revolutionary war and the founding period. The 1619 project isn’t about the victims of slavery, it’s about rewriting history to fit an ideology driven narrative. It has no place in a high school history class.

Wood has a personal opinion that the founding of the US was an unequivocally positive, world-changing event, so naturally he's pissed about any other interpretation.

American historical propaganda can influence historians too, y'know.
