% change graphs without -100% on the bottom are misleading.

    But yes, it is bad.

An ex-Army (Reserves) dude was a TRUMPER REPUBLICAN? Another mass shooter from the far right? Sure.

Paging @Steal My Faceman, this is clearly a false flag op!

Maybe we shouldn't be using or even looking to a privately owned app under the control of a complete douchebag rich guy.

This is why you should not exclusively use twitter for your news and should actually do some fucking work at establishing a new and more honest method for real information to be propagated. God, journalist are some simpleton whiny fucks for people who are in warzones looking for violence. This is part of your fucking job, and if it is too difficult for you tio not rely on a fucking dumpsterfire app which only allows 144 characters and no real formatting then maybe you should do something more in your lane like picking shit out of your own ass and identifying any corn in it.

Get off of twitter people, and quit your bitching. Elon ruined it and now you might need to go back to some old methods from a couple of years ago and do the journalism thing that was done better long before the ease of twitter. Go get some avacado toast and whine about your lazy ass elitist college educated failure somewhere to someone who gives a fuck about useless and worthless people.

In short anyone who has this problem needs to STFU and go work with FF over at subway where they belong.

did something actually change while I have not been in an office? So the boss does not show up to the office while they expect everyone else to? I thought that was the rule? Is this not normal now, and am I supposed to feel bad that the people at twitter have to do what I did all the years I worked in an office?

I am not saying don't hate on Elon, but the boss not being around at work normally meant we could all relax a bit. We all found ways to game the monitoring systems so when the boss was gone we had it a lot easier.

Neither will I. One of the great ironies of my life is discovering just how bad banks are when it comes to managing their own finances. This is nothing more than chickens coming home to roost and making the case yet again that banks should be much more heavily regulated and that the monster mega banks should be broken up to protect our economy. Fuck 'em. :brood:

I recently had my bank account hacked. My assumption was that once I contacted the bank, and explained things to them, I'd at least get the shit stopped before all my money got swiped from the account. Nope. Oh, sure, the bank was very helpful in canceling my debit cards and offering to send me new ones. But not only did I watch the thieves suck money out of my account in real-time while I was on the phone with the bank, but the hackers were able to change the email address on my account along with the password without the bank telling me in any way that this was being done. No automated emails or anything like that.

Meanwhile, I'm screaming at the fuckers on the other end of the phone about what was happening and they all kept saying, "We can't do anything about those charges until they post to your account in a few days. At which point, you can contest them and we'll refund you." (Funny how they were able to allow the money to evaporate instantly, but couldn't get it back instantly.) I kept telling them to close my account and do you know what their response was? "But sir, if we close your account, you'll never be able to have another one with us." Yes, I did say, "Why would I want to have an account with you again if you're letting people steal all my money?"

In the end, I got them to agree to close my account and send me a check for the money that was in my account (though they refused to send me confirmation that they actually had closed my account). When the check showed up, it was for 25% of the money I had in the account before it got hacked, and I noticed the name of the bank that the check was drawn on (interestingly enough, the check specifically said that it couldn't be "electronically deposited" using one's phone to take a picture of the check so that it could be deposited using a banking app). It wasn't the name that was on my debit card, or any of the materials I'd ever gotten from the bank. The name on the check? Wells Fargo. At some point in the past couple of years, they'd bought my (now) previous bank, while continuing to allow it to operate under the old name. If I'd have known that my bank had been bought by Wells Fargo, I'd have ditched them long ago.

The banks, phone companies, government, and police need a better intercommunication and customer service force for these sorts of things. It seems like in these cases each of these units are working independently without sharing information freely across platforms when they need to. They also are not really good at dealing with the victims of these sorts of attacks. It just seems to me you could create a mid level paying job whose purpose is to cross communicate in identity theft, bank theft, credit theft, and gather information into a universally shared evidence folder that could be set up to redact certain info and be secure from leaking security info.

It would be good for each bank office to have a person or two on staff at each branch who is able to do better communication with what is going on with your particular criminal event. They could have the name of a police of FBI contact for opening a case, or give you a case number and contact where you can talk to a person who can give yuou some more answers because police officers always seem to have better things to do which makes them look like a bunch of asses who give less of a fuck than the bankers.

I include the phone company as they seem to be very tied in with how you end up identifying yourself through online and over the phone banking. That is a huge security hole considering those people are not trained in how to spot fake IDs and seem to be very disconnected from actually being able to investigate fraud when presented with new accounts or switching accounts. They also do not seem to be vetted like bankers are. A banker is going to be background checked a lot better by security people than your local verizon (or other phone company) guy. When your local verizon guy is going to be the one responsible for the device that is primarily used to verify your identity based on it's MAC or other identifying chip. When that guy can start rerouting your personal phone number to other equipment he better damned well be clean of crime and have a bug up his ass watching his every move.

I'm shocked -- shocked! -- that an overgrown frat boy would launch a scheme that basically amounts to "pay to have friends."

It occurred to me when I had my recent run-in with my bank over their locking my online account access when I used a VPN that I was dealing with people who knew less than I did about digital technology/security. While that may not be especially uncommon, what really frosted me is that their system is set up to make sure that I can't talk to anyone about such who does know more than I do about it. I dealt with some really nice people who wanted to help, but they couldn't, wouldn't or didn't dare connect me with anyone who could :brood:

For several years I did a lot of consumer-issue stories where we tried to help people who'd been wronged by a business.

I lost count of how many of them were about Wells Fargo fucking over one of their customers. :jayzus:
