Amazing that Hamas can kill 1200 people during a ceasefire and then hide amongst defenseless civilians for months, only for you to refer to the people trying to bring them to justice as "murdering cowards."

Some significant proportion of those 1200 people were killed by the IDF.

And no, justice is not what's happening. Although it may someday be for some of those involved.

Amazing that you can enthusiastically endorse ethnic cleansing and pretend to take any sort of moral high ground.

Amazing that I asked you to elaborate on the plausible alternatives you claimed existed to stop the endless pointless deaths on both sides over four months ago and you've still provided sweet fuck all

One of the things that a couple of decades of WF has taught me is sometimes people are so fucking gone there's no point. And when you can't even agree on a basic baseline like ethnic cleansing being wrong why would I fucking bother.

Ethnic cleansing is wrong, you dumb motherfucker, but it's a shitty situation with no plausible "right" answers, and never ending murder and rape and torture is more wrong. All those dead Palestinian kids you claim to be so upset about wouldn't be dead if they'd been moved out of Gaza instead of sticking around to participate in this endless pointless conflict.

You must be all sorts of fun when people discuss the trolley problem, I'm sure you just sit there refusing to answer the question while judging everyone that dares take a position. Congratulations, you've got the ethical high ground, and all your inaction cost was a bunch of human lives. You're a real fuckin' hero. :dayton:

Don't confuse not seeing the point of engaging with a lunatic who endorses violent ethnic cleansing as being not having other views. Learned from the lesson of Storm that when people tell you who they are, then it's worth taking them seriously.

Indirectly calling me a Nazi is so much easier than proposing an actual solution to the conflict, isn't it? Fucking coward. I might not agree with Rick on much, but at least he offers solutions of his own instead of just throwing out insults and feeling smug. :dayton:

As to 'ethnic cleansing', honestly I think the Palestinians who elected a genocidal government in Hamas should be resettled after 100 years of non-stop attacks on their neighbor, literally allying with Hitler, the killing of multiple heads of state in nearby Muslim countries, backing Saddam Hussein's attack in Kuwait, trying to overthrow Jordan, and starting the Lebanese Civil War.

But it's not going to happen, because the Palestinians elected a genocidal government in Hamas, have conducted 100 years of non-stop attacks on their neighbor, literally allied with Hitler, killed multiple heads of state in nearby Muslim countries, backed Saddam Hussein's attack in Kuwait, tried to overthrow Jordan, and started the Lebanese Civil War, so no one will take them in, especially not their neighbors.

So Hamas needs to be rooted out at the source, and that's going to get a lot of people killed.

Which, as I reiterated several times already, is why you don't go try to genocide your neighbors, over and over and over again.

There are multiple new atrocities every day to the point that it's now normalised. But what the Israeli military did to 6-year old Hind Rajab and the paramedics trying to rescue her still stands out. And western media are really outdoing themselves with how they're reporting it.

So as I have stated before I listen to Fox News Sunday as my first Sunday show just so I guarantee I get a taste of what the other side is being fed.

    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fox-news-sunday-audio/id418152882

Today’s first guest was Bibi and for real I wonder how much of his power is a) his willingness to come on American right wing media every single day b) the fact that he has no accent*. Like how much of a gift is it that the right wing Prime Minister grew up outside Philly so can go on Fox News and not scare ‘Real America’ by having an accent?

Am I crazy or is that at least worth a couple percentage points?

*this is a failure of American media. They need to get him to pronounce water and wash on camera, state his position on booing Santa and what he thinks about throwing batteries at opposing players

Okay it appears he also went on ABC and I will stand by my position that in terms of foreign policy it is good for a county to have their PM be a citizen of the most powerful nation in the world and be willing and able to give as many interviews as he is allowed for as long as he is can.

So I’ve lived with a couple Philadelphians* and there is a low guttural ‘r’ following two soft vowels (in this case the ‘wh’ is acting as a soft vowel) heading into a consonant. So you get wherter and whersh, out of water and wash, but typing it out makes the r’s seem more prominent than they are. Swallow the ‘r’ (I think maybe they call that the rhotic r) when you say it. Hard to explain over type I guess.

But one thing we can all understand and agree upon is that Eagles fans suck.

*different conversation but both were technically New Jerseian and claimed Philly. New Jersey is both the most densely populated state in America AND the least likely someone is to claim. Outside the cast of Jersey Shore no one is from there. The entire state lives either in or ‘just outside’ of Philly and NYC.

Some conflicting reports of what happened in Rafah last night.

In the course of one hour at roughly the same time that their video was being shown at the superbowl, the IDF attacked multiple targets including hospitals, mosques and houses. They killed around 100 people and there are videos being circulated of childrens body parts being cleaned off of the streets.

They say that this was part of an operation to rescue two hostages.

There are reports that the attacks were a "diversion" to facilitate this. (Mass murder of children as diversion.)

There are also reports that as well as rescuing two hostages, other hostages are among the dead.

And yet others suggesting that the hostages were rescued 24 hours earlier, with this cover-story concocted to justify preparing the ground for the liquidation of Rafah.

Aid agencies are saying that evacuation of civilians is basically impossible and pressure from the US appears to be rhetorical only, so it's possible that they'll drop some leaflets and take a couple of other token steps in order to say that they allowed them to leave. Western governments have one by one been distancing themselves in advance from what is to come.

I don't normally post this stuff - even though there's lots of it around. So, beware.

First picture is what Joe Biden (or his PR team) saw fit to tweet at the very moment that his bombs were doing what you see in the second picture to a young girl. Zionists on social media are celebrating the latter picture, making comments like "fuck around and find out".

That sounds rough man, Hamas should probably surrender and leave Gaza, and release all the hostages so the IDF has no justification for doing this ever again.

When I referenced Israel withdrawing from Gaza in 2005 you said that was a long time ago and things have changed since then so it wasn't relevant.

How do I put this politely... You are a dumb person.

In case it wasn't clear to you before, I'm endorsing forced migration. I'm not endorsing mass murder or systematic rape or mass castrations or cannibalism.

I know that's a bit more nuanced of a position than you might be able to handle, since your main contribution to this thread is expressing outrage over trigger words, but perhaps you could try next weekend. :bergman:

Well, yes. The meaning of that is that Israeli policy has changed since 2005. Not that the past isn't relevant.

But in case you don't know, and notwithstanding the fact that wanton slaughter of children never has any justification, the outcome that you suggest whereby Hamas would leave Gaza might actually be a good one. Unfortunately it has an almost exact historical analogue in 1982 at the end of the Lebanon War which may influence the course of events. In the case, the Israelis had lain siege to Beirut (starving the population as it is doing in Gaza). The PLO agreed to lay down their arms and go into exile. Not long after they did, the IDF allowed their Lebanese allies to massacre thousands of civilians. And that was in a situation much less incendiary than we find ourselves in now, with far fewer dead, without the context of Israel wanting to "thin out" the population and a settler movement desiring to colonise the land.

So the idea that it will definitely be all good if the Palestinians stop resisting is for the birds.

Israel rescued 2 hostages from their captivity in Rafah yesterday.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68271340

Biden is fed up with Netanyahu and leaked that he called him an 'asshole.'

    https://www.haaretz.com/us-news/202...-in-gaza/0000018d-9d38-db74-a1ef-df7aaed10000

    Israel has started bombing Rafah.

    https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-war-news-02-11-2014-785309c668e15728c6aac9905f290b4d

So where are we? Lots of noise by governments around Israel to put pressure on them not to attack Rafah, but no real concrete actions yet.

Hamas is largely in Rafah now, as it also appears it's likely the hostages are.

Benny Ganz has taken a large lead in polling in Israel, and there's a popular wave demanding new elections, but Netanyahu is under no compulsion to grant them. Clearly he sees the destruction of Hamas as his legacy.

Netanyahu isn't going to stop, Hamas isn't going to surrender, no one will take the Palestinians in because you can't do that without also taking Hamas.

So lots more people are going to die.

Okay, so obviously they shouldn't go to Lebanon, but if they went to other countries that already hosted Palestinians peacefully and didn't massacre them, and they stopped plotting attacks against Israel, I think Israel would have a much tougher time attacking them without consequence.

Maybe they could be relocated to Australia, isn't there a bunch of unused dessert there? :chris:

If you're talking about the Hamas leadership (as opposed to the entire people) then there are probably a number of places they could go. And there are probably some guarantees that can be given to make it work. I'm just highlighting why it isn't so straightforward. But I really wish this could be the solution - it allows both sides a face-saving compromise on the stated objectives of "total victory" and "Hamas remains in power" that would save lots of lives.

As an aside on the Lebanon War, it's also worth reviewing what Ronald Reagan (not my favourite guy) did - with Israel bombing Beirut, he simply made a phonecall, expressed his outrage and intimated that he might cut aid. And there was a ceasefire within an hour. Link.
