My government retirement check is taxed also. And I don't get "free" healthcare but it is extremely inexpensive, which is a benefit that I earned from 20+ years of military service, which was in my contract of course. I held up my end of the bargain, and Uncle Sugar held up his end. Anyway yes I do pay more in state & federal taxes from my contractor job than I make with my retirement check, but not by much.
When I retired at age 43 I went out at the top of my game experience & ability-wise so the tax payers got their money's worth out of me and then some.
