Actually I don't care about donkeys or elephants, but I do laugh at people like you who are blazing hypocrites when it comes to your team.
There is video of Sean Hannity on Fox Noise going full on anti-vaxxer nut job recently because... Obama. No, really President Obama urged parents to vaccinate their children so Hannity started babbling anti-vaxxer crap just so he could be against Obama. The derangement of the right wing mind is a curious thing.
As always, I would never know what FOXNews or rightwing pundits are up to if not for outraged liberals hanging on their every word.
Both Obama and Hillary are on the record expressing doubts about mandatory vaccinations, which is why the media quit discussing Rand Paul's statement by the next news cycle.
I don't believe you. You regurgitate Fox talking points so often it seems unlikely you aren't an avid viewer.
In 2008 Hillary said "“I am committed to make investments to find the causes of autism, including possible environmental causes like vaccines." Not to be outdone, Obama said that research on whether vaccines cause autism was "inconclusive." When those positions were dug back up, the anti-Paul, anti-Christie narrative went right out the window.
Upon reflection of the points raised in this thread, I concede the point: vaccinations for serious communicable diseases should be compulsory. I am convinced the benefits far outweigh the costs.
I'm afraid I can't really agree with you there. I tend to come from the school of thought that consent is required when it comes to putting something in someone's body.
"Dug up" is correct. Both statements were made almost seven years ago. In light of new research, the evidence is conclusive, and both have amended their views within the past few days. Science is a moving target. Only a moron or a liar acts as if it's written in stone.
Yes, they amended their views in the last few days, when they saw an opportunity to slam Christy and Paul. When it was politically expedient and a Hollywood fashion to link vaccines to autism, they jumped on that too. It's almost like they're pandering narcissists who don't give a fuck about science.
Haven't read past post 40 so I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but no, you're taking it a bit more meta than I intended. The vaccine is the good thing, but it's as important to require it as it is to have it as an option, to avoid endangering others. It doesn't matter a whit what the vaccine does for you, if it's protecting others. For instance, if there was an ahead-of-time prophylactic drug which only terminated the contagion in the recipient -- it didn't actually offer immunity, but it did prevent you from spreading the disease further (say by blocking viral shedding or capsid formation or something) -- then I'd say it'd be just as important to mandate that as a traditional vaccine.
When was the last time a 5-month old baby consented to getting measles virus put in its body? Or the 8-year old who's shot didn't take?
Paladin is the only one doing that, but continue to get defensive. [edit] And I'm very impressed to see that Paladin has reconsidered.
Why, that has never happened to me before in my life! (Thanks for the explanation, that makes perfect sense to me.)
The FDA doesn't want me to eat rotten meat. The FDA is part of the government. You can't trust the government. Therefore, rotten meat must be a superfood! Everyone eat rotten meat!! Om nom nom nom!!! *Dies*
... based on the seriousness of the recent outbreak, about a change in perspective that occurred sometime over the course of almost seven years and that you can't pinpoint. I hear Diacanu's making steak tartare. You should have some.
You can do better than that... "So I'm going to tell you what the facts are, and the facts are the facts, but then we know the truth. That always overcomes facts," she has said. source
