Lol! The international poster pushes Evans behind Downey. Also, for some reason, the Ultron drones are cleaned away.
Contractual issues. For Towering Inferno Steve McQueen's name came first on the posters and credits on one side of the Mississippi, while Paul Newman's came first on the opposite side of the Mississippi. It all has to do with who's got the most star power.
The international poster also blacks out Cap's star-spangled color scheme. Iron Man must play better overseas, but Cap plays better at home.
My guess? RDJ in more MCU movies. If it didn't at least partially involve that, why would RDJ know/care?
Because his contract says he cares, that's why. It'll be interesting to see what it is. Not too long ago, he reversed his position on doing another Iron Man movie (he was against it, now he's said he's "interested"), so it could be IM IV, or it could be that he's just going to be showing up in a lot more MCU films/TV shows. (I don't know if RDJ would want to appear in the Netflix Marvel shows, but I do know that Netflix would be happy to name his price if he were.)
Hugh Jackman said his take away from "Birdman", is that he wants to be Wolverine until he dies. Maybe RDJ has had a similar epiphany.
Jackman can be 70 years old with a Shatnerian gut and a bad toupee, and I'm still going to buy a ticket to see him be Wolverine. I'm not quite so fond of RDJ in the Iron Man role, but I would not be averse to him making more outings as the character.
Kill yourself. RDJ was born to play Iron Man, and any doubts I had about the film version of Iron Man were erased as soon as I heard they were going to cast RDJ as Tony Stark. Given RDJ's history of substance abuse, he understood the darker aspects of the character in ways other actors cannot, and thanks to the piles of cash he's made from the role, he can understand the billionaire aspect of it as well.
Never said I didn't like him, just that I'd sooner someone else play Iron Man than someone else play Wolverine.
Ehhh, to me, Jackman and Downey are both the Christopher Reeve of those roles. I won't enjoy the day either is recast.
Politics. Bush and Obama have done an awful lot to erode global faith in the US, and people rarely separate the concept of the US which Cap symbolizes, and temporary policy, so makes sense to tone down any overt pro-US imagery. Maybe the candidates for 2016 will make a stance to adopt policies that only heroes from upcoming Marvel movies would approve of
Remember the guy who played "Stark" on Eureka. I'm pretty sure they named his character that because he looked like the classic comic book Tony Stark. I think he'd look better as Stark than RDJ. Can't say as he'd act the part as well, though.
Not really feeling it. Looks like more of the same to me. But then I'm getting a bit tired of superhero movies personally.
Care to explain for those of us who aren't comic fanboys? I assume you're referring to digital eyes dude at the very end of the clip...
Yep, that's the one. In the context of the comics, no idea. In the context of the film, my impression is that The Vision is something Stark builds to help in their fight against Ultron.
In the comics, he's pretty fucking powerful. He can control his molecular density, and become intangible, and phase through objects, or turn super hard, and heavy/strong enough to put up a good fight against the Hulk, or he can phase his fist into a guy, and partially solidify, and fuck up their molecules, and agonize even the most powered villains. If he's even half as powered in the movie, he'll dole out some ass-kicking on those Ultron drones. In the comics, there was an original Human Torch who was an android (before Johnny Storm became the biological one), and the "synthetic human", display in the Stark Expo in Captain America 1 is a winking nod towards that. Then, in the 70's or so, Human Torch's body was dug up, and upgraded, and rebooted with a new personality, and became The Vision. For the movie, it looks like they're having him be a Mark 40-something Stark suit that comes alive.
That's my guess, as well -- he's a Stark Tech armor built specifically to give J.A.R.V.I.S. a body so that he can whup Ultron's ass.
If I'm not mistaken you can see Vision in action at the end of the trailer in the shot from above where all the Avengers are fighting off the Ultron drones.
It looks good...but... The hype train is starting to wear on me a bit. It's filling up my newsfeed from pretty much every gaming or entertainment site I have "liked" on Facebook.
Still not seeing the appeal. That trailer seems very meh. Lots of improbable fighting for no apparent reason.
