Not necessarily. She could just... "disappear".

But your theory sounds more plausible.

Either way, her character clearly (and permanently) exits Jimmy's life at some point.

Since that's what everyone expects, it's what I think is least likely. I think they're gonna find a clever way for her to be both alive AND in Saul's life AND not visibly in Breaking Bad.

    Now that would be funny.

Perhaps Jimmy and Kim reunite in Omaha.

A happy ending for the series?

Damn, this week's episode was good. Even though Kim was the only person in that standoff scene with Lalo at the apartment whose ultimate fate is uncertain, it was still extremely tense. Rhea Seehorn needs a damn Emmy (or at least a nomination).

Good stuff throughout the episode. My favorite bit was after Mike’s speech to Jimmy about the small choices that eventually led him down this path. Jimmy steps out of the car and in the background are two kids riding skateboards. If Jimmy doesn't team up with the skateboarding brothers to try scamming the Kettlemans, he probably doesn't meet Tuco, which directly led to where he is now.

The Lalo scene was very intense. The scene where Mike tries to get Gus to let Nacho be free once again shows how vicious Gus really is. I didn't notice the skateboarders. I knew as soon as Kim went into the office she was quitting. I like how she wouldn't back down on her decision.

Correcting myself: we don't know Lalo's ultimate fate, but he's still enough of a presence several years later that Saul is scared of him when Walt and Jesse take him to the desert.

I didn't notice the skate boarders, but i did think (haven't rewatched to check) that when Mike drops Saul off, its at the exact same spot a while back where Jimmy drops the ice cream and then gets invited into the car before getting involved with Lalo and co.......

Maybe it wasn't but the backdrop did look familiar. Maybe it was planned, or maybe the producers have a good spot there to mount the camera gear.

Could be. It did look similar, which would make sense since both scenes are near the ABQ courthouse.

A poster on a different site had this take on the background skateboarders.

What’s funny is you can draw a line directly from those two skateboarders all the way to the end of Breaking Bad.

If they hadn’t tried to scam Jimmy, Jimmy wouldn’t meet Tuco and Nacho. If Jimmy doesn’t meet Nacho, Nacho doesn’t case the Kettlemans. The Kettlemans in turn wouldn’t fake their own kidnapping. Jimmy wouldn’t find them, be paid off, rent the billboard, and meet Mrs. Strauss. If he doesn’t meet Mrs. Strauss, he doesn’t go into elder law, discover the Sandpiper fraud, and eventually end up at Davis & Main. He doesn’t make the commercial whose airing gets Kim demoted to document review. Kim doesn’t try to bring in Mesa Verde. Jimmy doesn’t have to forge any documents and never has anything to confess to Chuck, who is still alive. Jimmy never gets suspended, never becomes Saul Goodman, and never represents Krazy-8. Krazy-8 never becomes an informant and never turns in his cousin and Jesse. There is no raid for Walt to tag along on, so Walt and Jesse never team up. Jimmy barely knows Mike, so Walt doesn’t get connected to Gus. Gale happily runs the superlab, and dozens of people, including Hank, don’t die.

The most interesting thing about that is that decisions chains that echo down the line like that happen millions of times EVERY DAY, a butterfly effect that causes influences from unnoticeable to catastrophic. A kid decides to have cereal for breakfast instead of toast. So mom needs to run to the store for milk. She gets in a car accident that kills three people. The effect of those deaths create churn in the lives and decisions of others, resulting in more ripples.

All because a kid wanted cereal for breakfast instead of toast.

Looked at from that perspective, it's easy to see how we're all irrevocably connected on a cosmic level.

Just want to add my voice to the chorus praising the quality of the writing. Long form storytelling with those kind of arcs is helping rescue TV from the mediocrity of the over the air networks. These people aren't just grinding it out. Amazing stuff.

It helps that most of these series have adopted the short-season approach like BBC has been doing for years. When they only have ten or maybe twelve episodes a season, they're forced to tell better, tighter stories.

I don't think any of the "prestige" television from the past 20+ years would've been as good if they'd had to fill traditional 22-26 episode seasons.

To quote Mark Twain's comment inserted at the top of a long letter (paraphrasing a much earlier French quote about brevity), ""You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness--the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost."

I think you're spot on with that. The move away from traditional tv networks really helps. The cable channels and streaming services are in a position to take chances and explore different formats.

I hate to keep harping on this, but this is why I get sooooo fucking frustrated with Discovery and Picard. Serialized shows have been around long enough that we've had some really good shows over the years, The Americans, Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, The Expanse, BS, BCS, AHS, etc.. We even have a prototype for how to correctly do serialized Star Trek in DS9 and yet the new shows are mediocre compared to other shows. There's absolutely no excuse for it. Every episode needs to at least keep you engaged and wanting for more and advance the story. Those two shows just don't seem to flow as well as other serialized shows and they don't seem to utilize their time very well.

Matter of taste. I enjoyed Picard. I didn't bother with Discovery after the pilot, because I just thought the whole thing was confusing to the point where I just wasn't interested.

What do you think, Kim is a silent partner in BB? Did you see the KC Royals shirt? I want next season to be next Monday. We didn’t see a conclusion to the Nebraska scene, so I guess next season will conclude that. I still think Kim gets him out of it.

While it's possible that Kim is off-camera in BB, I'm wondering if she ends up getting caught doing whatever she's planning on doing to Howard, gets disbarred for it, and then just leaves. :chris:

I was quite underwhelmed with the season finale. Don't get me wrong: it was a great episode and season overall, I guess I was just expecting... more. Or maybe I'm just sad that it's probably going to be at least two years before we see the final season. :(

I'm starting to think that Kim may be the devil on Jimmy/Saul's shoulder. As much as he said he's bad for her in this episode, she's shown some pretty dark moments over the course of the series. I think she's the one that finally gets Saul to fully break bad.

I can't disagree. It was good, but the episodes leading up to it were so strong that this finale felt a little like a letdown.

It didn't help that right before watching the BCS season finale I watched the final three episodes of The Shield for the first time. That series finale is probably the best I've seen.

I definitely agree. He was ready to call it off with Mesa Verde and Acker, but Slippin' Kimmy wanted to keep going.

Okay. I was watching Josh Gates Tonight, tonight and Carlos Esposito was on and he mentioned they were starting to film season six. I didn’t realize it was a rerun. I thought it was a recent episode.
