oh, Bailey, you're right! That was from last game, when I tried using pity to get people onto my side.
Well you're still not exactly offering new signups anything are you? Why should someone join the RSE as opposed to another alliance?
I think I've been going to Bailey's planet to gather energy... I picked a random sector and I kinda get some energy along the way every time so... I scanned it once... but I couldn't read a thing.
I was just thinking about something. The ISA said that the initial attacks were to keep the Colonial Fleet from getting so strong. I seem to remember something from the last game. The RSE outnumbered the UFP by more than two to one, but after some RSE aggression we teamed up, worked together, got tough, and stomped the shit out of the RSE. That was always the secret to our well-being. We worked together and watched each other's back.
Speaking of taking care of each other, if each member of the Colonial Fleet will check their bank accounts, I think they'll find a nice little surprise.
especially when you invited them at the beginning of the game, and they never accepted or declined, and you can't cancel invites. This is one of the worst parts of this game.
Not to be a crybaby, but don't you guys think it's a little absurd that most of the players in the game belong to a single alliance? As a solo player, I can neither withstand nor survive an assault from the Colonial Fleet. And I could never recover if they did attack. And if I choose to join one of the other alliances, I only make myself a target for the Colonial Fleet. There would be no benefit joining alliances made up of 2-3 members... Just sayin'
And then, when y'all were big enough that no one could do a god-damned thing to counter it, you stomped the shit out of people who hadn't done anything but act in good faith and try and take care of themselves. Nope, I still can't see any reason why we made preemptive attacks on the colonies. That said, we will honor the ceasefire. But when the Colonial Fleet wipes us out (and then wipes everyone else out) I reserve the right to say "see? I told ya' so."
But you can guarantee yourself to come tenth or eleventh in the end behind the glorious leaders of the Colonial Fleet!
Oh, and everyone? Ask yourselves one question: If we REALLY are such Evil Bastards as some people would have you think, then why did we choose to target the strongest power in the game, instead of picking off the weak and the unaligned?
FYI: I just destroyed 15 of my own planets and all of the colonists and defenses on them. I told myself that I was going to just piddle around for this game, but I keep finding myself drawn back into the mix. I'm just going to stick with what I have now and go from there. It's time for someone else to pick up the baton and run with it now. Let's see who can win this thing.
Sure, it was a one-time-use strategy. But by God, when your home system is being assaulted, and your people enslaved...well, One-Eyed Tigh would've approved.
hence why i've been upgrading away, once i'm carting around a million+ torps and fighters i'm happy spending a day building up a world. however i stupidly discarded my inital gameplan and built up my sensors and beams too early thus making me a stupid wanker.
Beams are good to have, actually. I'd be surprised if anyone in the UFP last game didn't quickly arm themselves to the teeth as fast as they could.
they are, when you're planning to use them... for a trader with EWDs they're pointless, far better to keep increasing hull and engine size, and then start building up the computer and torps. armour, shields and beams are useful when your EWDs no longer work - which for a traders not a problem when your making a billion a day, where you can get all three to level 20 inside a week.
The best way to protect yourself during off hours is to build up five heavily defended planets in one sector, then set the sector you own to not allowing ship attacks. Then log off while you're in orbit (not landed on a planet). In order for a passing ship to attack you, they'd have to defeat 3 worlds, making the sector unowned, first. Of course, you should always have an EWD and an escape pod for SHTF.
